  • In this video I will explain the different cube refresh options and show you how to refresh Intelligent Cubes using incremental refresh reports in MicroStrategy. I will also show you a few VLDB settings to remove row restrictions.

Great content and insights. Thanks so much. Please keep it up. Do you have videos on visual insights or how to create Microsrategy forms for users to update, insert or pull data? Thanks again

For some reason the incremental refresh report for delete is clearing the entire cube, even though I have set filter to be less than particular date, tried both advanced option 'Filter' -> deletes everything in the cube & 'Report' -> does nothing.

Good content. Sir, are you offering full course of mstr videos? If yes, what's the cost? I am really impressed with your teaching.

Thank you Ramesh. I really appreciate it. I do have a course I recently created and plan to announce soon. The course is focused on Architect. www.udemy.com/course/microstrategy-architect/?referralCode=92CDF683D9FC8F4FAE97

I have one doubt. Why don't we create single dataset for document. Why we usually create multiple datasets for the document? Kindly clarify.

    • @JamesOliver

Are you referring to creating multiple incremental refresh reports? If so, each report accomplishes something different. One updates the dataset and another deletes old rows for example.

Hi sir, we have cube.. we have data for the dates only month end dates. Our requirement is we should maintain only latest 8 months data. Could you please let me know, how can we make it as dynamic.

ramesh pedakotla Sure, create a cube refresh that includes the latest 8 months and choose the option that deletes rows not found in the new dataset. This will load the latest 8 months and drop anything older.

ramesh pedakotla I think the easiest option is to create a cube that loads the latest 8 months and schedule a full refresh. Do you have a filter that gives the latest 8 months?

@ramaesh, you got to setup the cube refresh as full for the very first time , then in coming months 2 incremental reports need to refresh the cube. 1) Delete the oldest month data from 8 months list 2)Insert the latest month data . It will dynamically keep 8 months range always. Also most important thing is performance of these 2 incremental report will be very high compare to running 8 months of data full refresh everytime in case you have loads of data. That will eat up database resources as well. If you don't have performance/db resources sharing issues, I would suggest to go for full straight refresh of the cube.
