    Ooh, I love the last card. The purple is so dramatic! Here's a thought for those extra die cuts you toss. Donate them to your local grade school(s). If they're layered flowers, leaves, etc., put them together ahead of time. Grade school teachers usually have some kind of bulletin board/display outside the classroom door or in the hallway. They change them out per season. Kids get so excited when there's a "happy" scene to greet them at the classroom door or as they walk down the hall. Even if the dies are small, teachers can put them in the background or use them for something else entirely. I've donated "glittery" paper I personally thought was atrocious (lol). The kindergarten and 1st grade teachers fought over that paper pad! The little kids thought it was beautiful! The mothers of those kids received lovely cards/art projects (so sweet)!!! sincerely, mother of a grade school teacher!

    Hey Dawn! I love your video is because it’s so real. Watching you struggle with your purple background helped explain why I get stuck sometimes. I also end up with extra die cuts with the intention of making extra cards. Your video truly helped me think of trying different layouts after making my originals! Thank you x 2 ‼️‼️😊😊

    Wow when you changed from the purple to the white background I couldn't believe the difference in the look. The white is awesome. I'll keep this in mind when putting together pieces. And I'm buying that whole bundle next month.

    I agree you can never have too many floral dies especially ones from Spellbinders and Honey Bee stamps (lovely layers). I do cut so many more flowers than I need but end up throwing them away from frustration because I leave them in a bowl and I think I should keep extras in a storage envelope. In addition to card making I absolutely love mixed media and using these florals for my focals makes my pages pop. As always Dawn you are an awesome teacher and I'm so happy to have found your channel.

      Yeah, a bowl quit working for me. Storing them separately in a stamp pocket has really helped me, especially with extra labels and sentiments!

    I don't intentionally cut extras. Occasionally I cut something and decide it doesn't work for a particular design, and I save it. I still can't figure out if putting it back with the original dies or some sort of aggregating/organizing system is better for getting them used. If I had the sort of overflow that you showed here, it would take me considerably longer to make the card as I pick through the cut pieces than it does just cutting a new one in the paper I intend. Some people only accumulate sentiments. I tend to color-match my sentiments and rarely use black or white, so that doesn't work well for me (I do have an envelope full os sentiments I've cut to which I add more "doesn't quite work" pieces than I take out and use). I need to minimize the scraps and die cuts. I do backgrounds in batches, and having those in advance has proved efficient for me. (Of course, if I die cut them, then I have Very Important scraps to attend to, but those don't accumulate as quickly.) Sometimes I manage to use up a sheet of paper with a second card the same week as the first, but often I want to do something different. (My cards are all one-offs.)

    Great look into your process, thanks for sharing! The important question is, how much extra do you still have after these three cards? 😂

    • @dawnwplus9
      @dawnwplus9  6 месяцев назад +1

      I did manage to make quite a dent in these particular ones...but yeah, still lots of leftovers overall. The best thing about this process is that I was able to knock all of these out in under an hour because there wasn't any cutting to be done and minimal decisions to be made!
