I have worked at a wholesale perennial nursery for 26 years and the beauty of blooming flowers is so fulfilling! Only trouble is working so many hours, 50-60 a week in spring, leaves no energy left for card making! Love your work so much!
yes, please show how you put that card together. love all the layering and the details. you and Kelly are trying to break the bank this month, oh well. who says videos should only be 30 minutes. go longer and keep including all those special pieces to making the cards. if I can watch Tim Holtz for 3 hours. I dont know if anyone else was thinking that the morning glories looked perfectly fine to start with🤔but you certainly kicked them up a couple of notches. Love the shabbychicness you created. Beautiful as always.

My goodness, Dawn: A Kanjiro Camellia - Camellia sasanqua are not inexpensive plants! They are surreal, they are so brilliantly pink.
These are stunning! What a way to start my day!! I've already learned so much, and you aren't even finished with your rose. A quick side trip as to paper, and I'm fairly confident you know this. Hot press has the finest tooth. And this gives watercolor the best chance to flow like you show. Cold press has a rougher surface or more tooth, so more water is needed to make the color flow like yours does. And, oh!! I love the way yours flows. All I've been taught is that cold press is the holy grail. So all I have is the Canson xl watercolor paper, but one side is actually smoother. I definitely will be purchasing a pack of hot pressed now. Thanks so much for sharing the beautiful way you paint. Made my day!!

Oh wow. There are no words. "BEAUTIFUL" just doesn't capture the color and detail of those flowers. Your talent always leaves me speechless, except when I'm laughing at your excellent sense of humor! What a hoot!! I've never heard of Cabbage Roses. The picture makes me think of Peony's (one of my favorites). When people talk about "love flowers", I always think of "Peace Roses". I love the soft colors and I believe they've been around since God created earth (slight exaggeration???)!!! I agree, gardening is one of the best hobbies ever! I get instant gratification and there is nothing better than a yard full of color! It makes me smile! I live in south central Ks. Right now everything is "downer dull brown". BLA. I would love to see you recreate the "shabby chic" card! I've watched you make "shabby chic" in the past and it always leaves me wanting more! Dawn, for a beginner, watercolor, should I use hot press? What weight, 140? I love watching you, watercolor. You are a sweetheart, I listened to your video on how you got started in cardmaking. My dad passed with cancer, too. ❤

Dawn, your image designs and watercolor videos are so amazing! I appreciate your detailed instructions and time you spend on these videos. You make it look so easy and I feel inspired to try this technique more often. I enjoy watercoloring floral images, but I need to remember to stop fussing with the painted image too much -- I struggle with a splotchy look when it dries. I usually use Canson cold press paper. Any suggestions? Thank you so much for your designs and videos!
I’m going to bet it’s the Canson paper that is causing your blotchy results. I would upgrade to better paper. It will cost a bit more, but you will progress faster and be SO much happier with your results. Arches is a solid dependable paper for cold press. The Fabriano Artistico in bright white for hot press. I pick them both up at Blick for the best prices.

Dawn, will this new release have stencils to go with it? I am not very good at watercolor. but I do OK with stenciling. I would love to be able to stencil these beautiful flowers that you have designed.
