An incredible Japanese perspective seldom presented. Appeared to be concise and thorough, including a post battle and post war analysis. Great info for every student of WWII Pacific History.
I think one of the stupidest things about the Japanese was the decisions by the some of their commanders and officers to commit suicide when they lost a battle. Their experience could have been invaluable. Like that air commander that led an attack even though he knew he didn’t have enough fuel to return to his carrier, when all he had to do was take one of the other I damaged planes offered to him. Brave but also stupid! I wonder how many experienced officers were lost because of this attitude?
The reasons for this are cultural and complicated but yes, the end result does look foolish. In the end though, this isn't why they lost. They lost because they started a war against an enemy they couldn't hope to defeat in the long run and they started it in a way that gave their enemy the maximum possible motivation to see it through until Japan was defeated.

The AI automated voice could use some improvement. But the biggest distraction was towards the end of the video, RUclips has placed commercials every other minute.
Don't understand why the machine pronounced Aleutians correctly once and then kept getting it wrong - this isn't learning but unlearnind. Would it cost somuch more to have the text read by a human being who would get it right. It does distract from an interesting video.
Speed it to 1.25 and it sounds much better, actually perfect.
I don't know why you think this makes it better because instead it just makes it sound rushed and doesn't give your brain time to figure out and correct mistakes with the names, places, and times. I would say it even makes it stressful and kills any enjoyment.
I agree with most commenters. This is an amazingly detailed and cogent view from the Japanese perspective. Not just that either. The view of the US side shows wisdom as well. AND it’s the worst AI I’ve listened to so far. I couldn’t go on the first time I tried. But it was so damn good I tried again. And glad I did!
It was a hard and fast US rule… NO DIARIES! No journals, or notes, like these. So, these are fascinating recountings.
What a shame you chose automated voice over, a human reader would have complimented the presentation where the AI is poor and a detriment.
Holy hell, that robo reader is the worst I've ever heard.
In their prior war game for Midway, it was brought up that they might get caught re-fueling and rearming but it was dismissed.
The war games overseer (Ugaki?) simply refloated all the ships sunk due to the operation's defects the war games identified, and proceeded to sail the restored fleet on to victory. Appears someone may have missed an essential point of war gaming things out in the first place.

@@karabenomar Probably because unlike war game rules, real war no rules, only outcomes. Oops, had to go back and edit my reply, caught myself pontificating, a very bad habit, indeed! (especially if you're not a Pope)

This is the worst AI ! I don’t know if i will to continue to support this channel? The voice and the sentences are all chopped up amd hard to understand! But I really like the story! I just hope that you can sort out the pronunciation of words if t all possible

Japanese leaders seem to have a very bad case of "wishful thinking". Got to admire the two carriers vacationing up at the Aleutian Islands. OMG they attacked Dutch Harbor twice and occupied Attu and Kiska. Every now and then there is a fantastic pronunciation of Aleutian. The voice went exceptionally stupid several several times in this video. Kiska and Attu were of no value to the Japanese. The Japanese frequently overstated the number of American planes shot down and ships damaged and sunk.
