Hey there, love your videos! The name-giving of Bosch makes sense, since it‘s a German company... 🙃 - GBH stands for „Gewerblicher BohrHammer“, which translates to „Professional Hammer Drill“ in English. - 18V is the battery voltage. - 26 is the weight (2.6 kg) and also for the energy (~2.6 Joule). - D stands for the grip type (this model is also available in another form factor) Greetings from Germany, keep up the nice work!
It’s great! My shed has been completed and it turned out nice looking and sturdy and it is way better than the sheds that many of my neighbors had put up. Of course, I'm pleased with the outcome and this Ryan’s ruclips.net/user/postUgkxGZedDTcDfgD7fG_uU4esfx_EgxzlY2_1 Plans was extremely useful to me as a guide.
I have owned and used bosch tools a very long time. Never been disappointed. As a matter of fact my go to corded hammer drill is over 30 years old and is a Bosch SDS.
I bought mine weeks back when Lowe’s was running the bulldog kit for $199 and it came with the filter vac kit for free. Didn’t really have a use for it at the time as drilling concrete isn’t something I do often. I knew I’d need it at some point so I just got it. I’ve used it multiple times so far and I’m sure it’s paid for itself. Hard to pass on a great deal.
Lucky you bought when you did. There 219 now for just the drill. With buy more save more at lowes, spend 450 to get 150 off.Drill comes down to 135.I have no idea price on vacuum.
1) GBH stands for rotary sds hammer 2) 18V for the battery voltage. 3) 26 stands for the max drill bit size in millimeters(not inches since it's German) what is recommended to use for the tool. 4) D stands for dust collecting application option what can be added to the tool. Bosch sure makes sense compared to some other powertool manufacturers.
RRBuildings: Bosch names are usually related to the specs of the machines within metric system, with some exceptions. Either it means energy/performance or depth of cut. I know in America many machines have different names. 18v-26 means 2.6 Joule.
I am one of the guys that broke my wrist drilling a hole. This new technology could have saved me a lot of pain and suffering. And I would have not lost time and money not being able to work. I still feel it every time I have to drill a hole. Thanks for the video. I will be looking into picking up one.
Bought this combo for $179 at Lowes. Not sure I needed it but it was too good to pass up. Tools are one of those things were you do not need them until you do.
I definitely prefer the toolsday videos where it’s a seasoned review instead of an unboxing, u get sent a lot of tools so your experience is invaluable to those of us that need a real world review
We always called them all a Hilty drill. But I’ve been using them since the late 60s. The newer cordless tools due much better work than anything in the past. Enjoy your content 👍.
used the older corded bulldogs and loved them, nice to see they put something in so if you do hit rebar your not freaking out or breaking a wrist or arm
Bought a bosh sds hammer drill for cleaning blocks of mortar amd drilling wall starter kits, got the drill and charger and 2 batteries. So then bought a circle saw and it was great amd recently bought the gdx 210c impact driver / wrench and I'm impressed by the quality of their tools. Amd great prices too

Great video, thanks. I just bought that same model part of a combo package with the same dust extractor for $200 at Lowes. Looking forward to using it.
The serial number makes sense in german. GBH 18v means Gewerblicher Bohr-Hammer 18 Volt In english it would be CRH 18v Commercial Rotary Hammer 18 Volt Don't know about the last digits though...
Would be interesting to know how such a small battery can enable so much power to the drill. I mean that battery is smaller than the battery on my weed whacker.
hi, good job on this video. to understand bosch‘s tool name you have to think/know a little german G = Gewerblich (gewerblich) you would say professional in english, so any tool from bosch which starts with a ‚G‘ means it‘s for professionals not ‚home gamers‘ B = Bohr ( drill ) H = Hammer - same word in english 18 V = 18 Volts E = electronically C = commutated
This is off the subject but was wondering if you have a video on your interior girts and your corner post detail. I know you touched on it a lil by showing the 2x to the corner post.
I’ve read lots of stuff on people buying rechargeable SDS drills to use drilling holes in field stone for use with Dexpan and other demolition cements who were killed or seriously injured. How is that possible? Are there crazy torque forces that cause the tool to twist out of hand or kickback? I don’t understand how ppl get hurt or die. Surely all these tools have a clutch of some sort to prevent such things? Maybe Kyle or someone can expand on this?
I see totally why you want and need cordless with new construction in remote area with big sites but with mostly remodels I still use a lot of corded tools and for some stuff prefer them. My Bosch sds drill is one of them since I don't casually grab that thing, I have a lightweight old dewalt hammerdrill for little stuff. Wish I could have bought yours if it was cheap enough!! Got any other corded blue-light specials!? ;-) Thanks for the vids.
Kyle man absolutely love the channel and everything you do because of you I discovered diamondback tool belts and recently purchased one. I had been wearing a occidental for the past 7 years thought it was the best until I saw you with diamondback. Saw your review of the muck boots. I work construction in Massachusetts and work year round. As you know we are getting into winter and a lot of snow would you recommend the muck boots for working in Massachusetts in the snow?
I have Bosch. If I was starting over wouldn't buy Bosch again. Just look at their range of 18v cordless and compare to others - no nailers, no palm router (just a toy 12v thing), no biscuit jointer etc. You must look at the big picture! I guess the only good thing is that at least they are not Chinese - unlike many nowadays!
What ear protection are those green earbuds? Know also use ISOtunes Xtr, but did you find something new or different? Love the Bulldog, especially at $199 w/ free dust extractor (or 4.0 battery, but dust extractor was a no brainer, lol). Cheers✌🏼
I have a new GBH18V-20N (18V SDS-plus® 3/4 In. Rotary Hammer). I am having problems with the hammer/chisel mode. Nothing moves when the knob is turned to this mode. Do I need to do something additional for this mode to work? I hear internal parts moving but the chisel itself does not moive.
Kyle, I hope you and your family had a great Thanksgiving! I noticed the background in your shop. It looks BEAUTIFUL with the black walls and the faux brick on the wall! Your shop is so nice. Thank you for the tool day video. Once again, great information on a nice tool with a reasonable price. Have a great day!
A guy-roscope ? How about a Jyroscope. Soft G in gyroscope. Maybe it is an Indiana thing. I hated the Milwaukee 0234 drill with a grip trigger. As the bit or hole saw grabs, the handle about breaks your wrist. The jerk tossed the cable and attached chuck key into a glass window. The Bosch has a piezoelectric motion and position sensor, a solid state form of a gyroscope like they put in smart phones to orient to up.
Really nice demonstration of a tool you seem to like a lot. Thanks. BTW the F- version of this tools has an optional dust-collection with auto-start (Bosch GBH 18V-26 F + Bosch GDE 18V-16) also only one battery. PS: really? ft-lbs instead of Joule for Hammer-Energy :O Cheers
LoL. Thanks for replying. Have you used those hammer in, glass vial anchors? They’re pretty cool. I found the manufacturer’s recommendation to evacuate the hole important, though. Compressed air work great. Blowing manually does not. Thinking vacuum might be the sweet spot.
Pretty lame to release new tool and having to turn on vacuum every time. Every body else activates vacuum at the same time sds drill's trigger is pulled
Its hard to implement if they haven't made the tool with power pins or signal connectivity to turn the vac unit on. Having a separate switch is the only option, even if it looks like a bit of an afterthought. I just got a dewalt dch333, the vacuum attachment is powered by the motor in the drill via a spline, no extra battery or motor.
Hello, very good friend, your video, I want to ask you what you recommend the Bosch GBH 18v 26d or the dewalt 263 that is similar but there difference between both, good difference in joules and the kickback protection that Bosch has, the dewalt has more joules but no It has kickback protection, I would like to know what you think ... Thank you very much cordial greetings from Santiago de Chile ... atte: Jaime ...
5:30 $199,- for the complete set, including battery and charger?! Damn, here in the Netherlands cheapest I could find it was 235 euros, which roughly equates to about 275 in dollars... Mind you that that is WITHOUT battery and charger. How is that possible?
Will batteries fit from one manufacturer to the next? Like a Bosch battery in a Milwaukee or hitachi? Does anyone have a universal battery that will fit multiple manufacturers?
No they make them for their tools so you have to buy batteries from them. But, you can find some knockoff adapter here and there to maybe fit one brand to another. Quality is likely to be low.
It means GBH= commercial hammer drill, 18v= 18volt, 26mm drill diameter, D= D handle or in German Gewerblicher Bohrhammer =GBH. So if BOSCHs names are weird, what about makita, dewalt and Milwaukee🤷♂️
Is it not ridiculous you have to wear eye and ear protection to drill a hole so you want get blasted in the comments? What a world we live in great stuff as usual tho
So you want me to only share the tools I buy? Because the point isn’t to share because they were free... I have plenty of those I’ll never share because the are garbage. I share because I think it might help others. Thanks for your feedback william
I go in the Home Depot or Lowe's I'm gonna at least "walk through" the tool dept. I wonder about some of the people who are anti tool review; where I worked, every fall season, the lunch bucket discussions were about new trucks, new tools or a new deer lease- in that order!FR

wow i luv the scerenry......no houses close by....great
Interesting and cool the vac makes it more efficient, good vid!
Could you point me to a picture, or video of how your type post and bracket look after the final concrete floor pour?
I actually could see it drilled quicker with vacuum on
Soooo smaller is better....in this situation. Enjoy you vids and observing your finish skills, thank you.

Does the HEPA vac attachment suck up enough dust to clean the hole? Would I still want to blow them out before setting glass-vial epoxy or similar?
