      Domestic abuse is like a running gag to this man. Like, it's almost as if he understands that this is a problem, but then overshadows it with the drag act and some revenge fantasy boolesheeit. He truly missed a chance to be a voice for the Black community and expose our darker (ha) inclinations and what's wrong with our mindset.

    In Acrimony, the wife played a huge role in the outcome of the situation. However, to suggest that she just gave up is summing the situation down unfairly. This chick stayed down with this fool for 20 years. She used her inheritance to pay for his education, car, and financially support him over the course of decades. That is not a display of giving up on someone. He was using her. He got way more out of the situation than she ever did. Some thing was off with her the first day them met. He still decided to pursue a relationship. To be honest, she should have dropped him when she caught him cheating in college. Her mistake was staying at the party too long. Then, after she decided to stay, she fumbled. There are not a lot of women out there who would have done this. If she hadn't, he wouldn't have had the opportunity to get the big win in the end. The real message of the movie was to get the help you need because both of them were flawed, and that is putting it lightly.

    • @marlondavis9450
      @marlondavis9450 3 месяца назад +12

      That movie is incredible because the fact his plan actually worked after their marriage was crazy. Then for her to go crazy because his idea actually worked after she gave up on him was ridiculous. No one was right but obviously she’s more wrong in the situation & the joke is most women still sided with her crazy ass.

    • @elizabethjonesb2b
      @elizabethjonesb2b 3 месяца назад +19

      @marlondavis9450 I have to say both were equally wrong. I refuse to believe that man didn't know what he was doing. There wouldn't have been a battery if it wasn't for his wife sacrifice. He knew he had the right one from the beginning. She had the opportunity to leave him over the years, but she didn't because she believed in the fairytale he was selling. Now, when she left and he got on and repaid her for everything, that was for her to move on. She wanted too much in the end. On top of everything, it was with the woman he cheated on her with, and from her perspective was the cause of why she couldn't get pregnant. A lot of men feel the new girl was somehow better because she "believed" in him. The truth is that it is easy to come in and finish the job after someone else did all the work over 20 years.

Not only do I agree with you, But i'm also so sick of medea acting holier than thou and like the second coming of Solomon When it comes to her family' problems, But in every other movie she's doing some of the same thing she's chews family members out for.

    Great video! But why are we so critical of a producer like Perry for the film adaptation of the stereotypes & tropes that we willing live through & make jokes of in our communities?? All he’s doing is making a movie, obviously from his creative perspective, about situations that exist.

    • @chrisrockett5897

      @@chrisrockett5897 I disagree. His message is pretty overtly base & simple. Love family, be kind, follow God & you’ll be triumphant over the wicked💯 & this is expressed at the end of all of his films as the good always wins & the wicked is left crippled. He approaches this in a comedic way but it doesn’t change. But if you feel like it’s “junk food” you must feel like that for 90% of films ever made, if you can’t find the message in them then I wouldn’t doubt it’s nothing but junk to u.

      @@chrisrockett5897 then u just must be a tough critic. I personally like his movies, it’s just weird when ppl make it seem as if he’s the cause for the stereotypes that’s already perpetuated in our communities. Like the dark skin being the “villain” while the light skin is seen as the “hero” but in the blk community we joke about a light skin being soft or weak. How many times have you’ve heard someone say “stop acting light skin” ie sensitive/soft. Perry use that to his advantage bc dark skins with money, power & bald is more believable for the villain role. A huge part of film is get the best person for the role for believability.
