The songs on their first album were like summer homework for a group of people under the age of 15 at the time learning about the METAL genre, all carefully interpreted in the BABYMETAL style.😁
Today, many young METAL fans are waking up to the METAL genre after listening to this album.😀

Excellent reaction, and you get it, and hell of a lot of sense spoken about metal . I started with Alice Cooper, Deep Purple, Hawkmoon, Black Sabbath, and Led Zeppelin and saw bands like Iron Maiden , Def Lepard , UFO , and Saxon in their early days in rock club's. One thibg i will say never enjoyed a band as much as i have BabyMetal .
Check out Su's vocals. Now, in her 20s, she was around 16 and younger in this mv collection. 😁🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼

im a 19 yr old girl, i was pulled into babymetal about 2 yrs ago and they have been heavily responsible for me exploring the genre as a whole.
i think was some metal fans are concerned about is that they are watering down the genre, and people who start declaring themselves metalheads wont have any appreciation for the art for as a whole, rather just this slice of it.
i think its a valid concern, but in the case of myself and everyone else i know who is younger and into babymetal, it is not the case.
their collaborations spurred me to try out many artists, like judas priest, dethklok, or sabaton, and then explore on my own while listening to knocked loose, jinjer, and many more.
i hope that those who have hesitancy about babymetal and its fans can understand that many of us are very open to trying new genres, even those who are very different from babymetal!!
i love babymetal but i also understand that they do not represent all of metal 🤘 ❤❤

BABYMETAL's members are famous star (acting in TV. CM. etc) in Japan from when a child.
The agency they work for is the largest listed entertainment company in Japan and has many stars. It is very difficult to get into this office, and female applicants need to be exceptionally beautiful, first of all. Many stars have been with the company since childhood and take various lessons from leading instructors, such as dancing, singing, acting, etc., and usually become an actress.
And among them, a small number of people with high singing ability (like the lead vocal of BABYMETAL : Suzuka Nakamoto) becomes a musician. This is because it is extremely rare for a person to have both a beautiful appearance like an actress and a high singing ability.
We can see many videos of her singing song since when elementary school on RUclips.
BABYMETAL was created to make use of her talent in 2010(When she was 13years old).
Now she is often selected as one of the top rock singers in the world by famous music magazines in the United Kingdom and is called 'Queen' in the metal fandam.
When Babymetal song is voted in popularity by Japanese, 'Akatsuki' usually comes in first place.😀

There is probably no other band that has been more responsible for bringing listeners into metal from another genre than Babymetal. You made some pretty good points about how someone like Babymetal may inspire other females to try out metal, since BM started some 14 years ago there has been a flood of female metal bands coming out of Japan that came after BM's popularity. Let's not forget that BM where just kids in this video and now are grown woman and the sound of their music has matured greatly. Metal Awards 2024 has 15 nominees in the female metal singer category, Su-metal currently has 34% of the vote with the closest competitor at 17% and the other 13 woman take the rest of the votes, that must say something about their current style.

When you were describing your project I wasn't sure if you were aware that this song in a nutshell is the girls-in a sense-playing hide and seek with an ogre. It's roots-again I believe-being Japanese folk lore. Liked what you had to say about Babymetal being a gateway to other metal acts.
Another thing you have to understand is Babymetal are Japan's most successful musical export. They have really blazed the trail that so many of Japan's great-particularly-female rock/metal bands are now traveling to find their own success in the west.
Babymetal does have their detractors. That said from early on they have had much support and praise from a myriad of metal/rock legends. Off the top of my head they have performed with or opened for: Metallica, Korn, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rob Halford, Sabaton, Lady Gaga, Bring Me the Horizon, Polyphia, Electric Callboy, Dragonforce (who wrote the original guitar arrangements for Road of Resistance) they have big fans in Rob Zombie and Corey Taylor. I would say love them or leave them but don't underestimate how hard they've worked and what they've accomplished. Oh and they recently finished their sixth world tour. 95 concerts in 26 different countries. p.s. It's not Fox Demon it's the Fox God. Just saying.

    Welcome to Foxhole 🦊🤘🔥
Always cool to see new reactors getting into this amazing group and also nice one of you already know about these girls and some of their songs.
I guess you already know currently they got a new official member called MomoMetal instead of YuiMetal which left the group back in 2018 officially.
Definitely this song is one of the best exponent of their kawaii metal they created, unfortunately you fell under a live compilation that doesn't reflect the awesomeness of what they do on the stage and it's totally unnecessary.
I'm gonna try to leave in my next suggestion where to get more proshot clips safe to react if YT allows me to do it. Meanwhile next suggestion:
    - Road Of Resistance live in Japan official MV (2015).
Totally agree with your train of thought about the metal scene and this group.
    See you next time 🦊🤘🔥

Here's the list of live performance clips usually safe to reacts without any filters so you won't need to rely on live compilations, there might be some exceptions:
      - Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! live at Legend 1997, SuMetal 16th Birthday in 2013, they got MV of this and is fun, but live is a blast.
      ruclips.net/video/LNFiDWJh2FA/видео.html
      - Akatsuki, live at Budokan 2014, this is a SuMetal solo.
      ruclips.net/video/g2372C5PJLM/видео.html
      - Megitsune, official MV is my first recommendation but is usually blocked if you don't put filters, so if you want live and safe to react, check it out Budokan 2014.
      ruclips.net/video/dU38CYkpBvI/видео.html
      - Akatsuki Unfinished Version, SuMetal solo again but with only a piano behind special performance at Legend 1997.
      ruclips.net/video/nwsinmxTxbo/видео.html
      - Babymetal Death, live at Legend 1997, this is the big finale, you're gonna blow your mind with this one.
      ruclips.net/video/jRc9dbgiBPI/видео.html
      - Catch Me If You Can with Kami Band intro live at Budokan 2014.
      ruclips.net/video/ng8U_j0gpLI/видео.html
      - Ijime, Dame, Zettai live at Sonisphere Festival 2014, sometimes the official live MV isn't so friendly so you know what to do.
      ruclips.net/video/Ro-_cbfdrYE/видео.html
      - Rondo Of Nightmare, with Mischiefs Of Metal Gods Intro live at Budokan 2014, another SuMetal solo but way different than usual happy songs.
      ruclips.net/video/8WBDiLMNZcE/видео.html
      - Doki Doki Morning, official MV, their very first song and MV full of kawaiiness, usually is safe to react so try it, if you want a live performance, this is the first proshot version with the Kami Band live at Legend 1999 (YuiMetal and MoaMetal 14th birthday).
      ruclips.net/video/BSjv9OYtWZ0/видео.html
      - Uki Uki Midnight, this one is a follow up to Doki Doki Morning but way different sound, this is the PV, is super fun but the sound isn't so great but at least is live.
      ruclips.net/video/Yj-UQIlqsIQ/видео.html
If you want better sound with the Kami Band, then live at Budokan 2014 it is.
      ruclips.net/video/ESzY9dL613Q/видео.html
      - Onedari Daisakusen, live at Legend 1997, this is a Black Babymetal song, is a subgroup with only YuiMetal and MoaMetal.
      ruclips.net/video/1dT1ywYR5So/видео.html
      - Iine! again official MV hits way better but if you want live, here live at Budokan 2014.
      ruclips.net/video/5sCvYVNeD0w/видео.html
      - Karate live at Download Festival 2016, "kitsune6001" got this with a short interview intro.
      ruclips.net/video/FKOL6v3Md2c/видео.html
      - Road Of Resistance live in Japan official live MV, be careful with the blocked by putting some filters just in case.
      ruclips.net/video/zTEYUFgLveY/видео.htmlsi=BsVOSExS25Qndy1H
      - Kimi To Anime Ga Mitai - Answer For Animation With You, live at Budokan 2014, not sure if it's still safe, so try some filters, if is audio blocked try to mute or just cut the parts.
      ruclips.net/video/M8FKumvh-w8/видео.html
Here's a song you can find at Babymetal Reactor Resource (BMRR), a helpful place to get watermarked logo clips of the original live version to curve the annoying algo.
      - GJ! live at Wembley Arena 2016, another Black Babymetal song.
      ruclips.net/video/Hg0Rylcg8F0/видео.html
This is BMRR short vid to follow instructions and get the spreadsheet with the full list.
      ruclips.net/video/q40VmTHSh4c/видео.html
And here's a BM guide (the long one).
      ruclips.net/video/aIb2xEthdSg/видео.htmlsi=EnEYU4nN3tuiY3WL
There's a beginners guide at "Briaghh" called "So... What is BabyMetal?" is more short and with some fair update until last year unlike the other one with full updates till this year.

Good reaction. First of all, the girls were between 15-17 years old for the singer and 14-15 years old for the chorus girls at that time and, this is a children's song that is about playing hide-and-seek with an ogre.
That said, Western metalheads have a hard time understanding what these girls have done for metal. Japan was experiencing a time where metal was dying, since Japanese youth were invariably attracted to pop. Babymetal, which is an idol group, fused metal with pop, attracting a huge group of young people who otherwise would never have entered the metal universe, regenerating a genre condemned there. That is why they are so big in Japan, because they are not only the most influential metal group there, but with their status as idols they reach places that other heavy groups will never reach, such as the most important Christmas program in Japan where, for example, they were invited.
They are currently 27 and 24 years old, and the group has been in existence for almost 14 years. These girls still have a life of music ahead of them.
If you want to see a magnificent Powermetal song, take a look at
"Road of resistance Live in Japan".
And it is not a plagiarism of Dragon Force, but Dragon Force collaborated with Babymetal in its preparation.
You can also check out Ratatata, the latest collaboration they have done with Electric Callboys, which is one of the funniest music videos I have seen in a long time. In that video I fell in love with SuMetal's voice again.

Good one! Y’all need to check out Babymetal now, in their mid-20s and a more mature feel. These clips were from when they were early/mid teens.
Seems like you guys haven’t heard their more serious songs (old or new). Not everything they do is just “kawaii”, and about chocolate or goofy stuff.
I suggest *Road of Resistance* from Pia Arena MM 2023.

Nice reaction. Love the Kamiband intros. Near the start of the song. Moa finds her perfect hiding spot. Sliding through Su's legs she strikes a pose. The pose she takes Su's sister was known for. Known as the Himeka Beam. I never knew if she did it in tribute to Su's sister, but it wouldn't surprise me if she did. They've done lots of tributes or nods to others in concert. A big one would be Metallica of course. LOL gotta love Moa. This is by far the best song about a version of hide and go seek. I was kind of hoping they would do other songs with this kind of topic in mind. Babymetal doing a take on red light green light would be interesting. Since they're older now maybe Ring Around the Rosey. The lyrics are rather serious. It's actually about death. I think Babymetal can handle it. We never know what Babymetal will bring us. The foxhole is deep and full of surprises.

The funny part for me as a musician is metal gernes aren't real. Like all modern music (1950s to present) it is a construct for definition, characteristion and promotion for profit. Musically, the only differences in metal genres are the technique cliches used by the players and vocalists.

Great first reaction, welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊 It was just a bit of a shame you picked a compilation video as it does lose quite a bit of what you would get from just one good live performance, but that's OK as long as you enjoyed it.
This particular video used clips from 10 concerts between 2013 and 2016 (so the girls were aged between 13/14 and 18 in the different shows). The audio is from two of those shows at Wembley Arena in London and the Tokyo Dome - both in 2016.
On likening the voices to animes, I have to disagree ... I am not very familiar with anime, but it seems to me the voices in those are deliberately and artificially made to sound "cutesy".
BABYMETAL's vocals are their natural voices - but they are the voices of very small and early on very young girls (that is most noticeable in 'Gimme Chocolate' with Yui and Moa and their "atatatatatata dokkyun" which is unfortunately the first thing a lot of people, and probably most of the people who don't like them, heard and all they ever seem to remember).
However, lead vocalist Su-metal always had very powerful vocals ... that was the reason the whole concept was formed and developed around her. 'Catch Me If You Can' isn't a song that shows that off very much - it is quite a way into the song before she even gets her first line.
'Catch Me If You Can' is the best metal song about playing a game that's a sort of cross between tag, blind man's bluff and hide & seek I've ever heard. It is the perfect mix of the two extremes with the brutal instrumentals and the sweet vocals - and the game they are playing, they're playing with an Oni 👹(a sort of Japanese ogre popular in regional festivals and used specifically to frighten children ... which amuses me probably more than it should).
The growling vocals (these have always been on backing track, nearly always anonymous, along with additional instruments like piano, synth, strings etc and additional vocals like some harmonies, choral bits etc) are the Oni asking things like "Are you ready?" and the best response has to be "Maada da yo" (No, not yet) while doing a running away from an Oni dance.🏃‍♀🏃‍♀🏃‍♀👹
Jake Muller has given you a good list of more songs you could try - for something more recent I would suggest 'Mirror Mirror', 'MAYA' or 'Monochrome' all live at PIA Arena in April 2023.

This song and performance is from years ago, they weren't in their early 20's here. And they have both shed and re-invented kawaii metal since then.
One thing to point out is some of their songs can have J-pop 'style' or anime 'sounding' vocals, but that is a choice, not the default. many more of their songs don't. Also Su is 26 years old now and her voice has matured, and their music has evolved since then as well.
Maybe reacting to something more recent like Divine Attack might give you more context. Good reaction but it feels out of date.

It’s a pity that you reacted to a compilation video. Compilation videos are, in my opinion, an insult to both the viewer and the band; the music is certainly overdubbed, and the changes in venue and costumes (sometimes even personnel) can be confusing if not completely annoying. You are not reacting to BABYMETAL, you are reacting to a highlight reel of BABYMETAL. For all the good it did you, you may as well have listened to the song on Spotify while staring a BABYMETAL poster.
You wasted your time - I'm not wasting mine.
