Actually the white pegasus who acts like willy wonka is a g1 pony called Surprise who inspired Pinkie Pie.
I also saw Firefly from g1 dressed as a wrestler. 😂
This is easily my favorite of the RDP series.
For me it's a toss-up between this one and Haunting Nightmare.
Okay, I'm sure I missed a lot of references in this one, so feel free to point out my blindness. Just FYI, while re-watching this while my encode was uploading, I realized a missed a couple more Back to the Future references, namely the flux capacitor on the machine's control panel, and the flaming tire marks when the second Thrackerzod took off.
+Applegeek 26:22-28:07 This entire portion was a reference to a game show from Nickelodeon called "Legends of the Hidden Temple" it ran from 1993-1995 and kept airing as reruns until 2007. The first part referenced is how the game-show explains how to complete each room. The second part was how a lot of times the kids got caught up in "The Shrine of the Silver Monkey" (one of the few rooms to never change while most other rooms shifted from episode to episode)

Yeah this was a great episode, definitely one of my favorites if not my favorites. I love Rainbow in this, loved everything in this episode. Great reaction. XD.
This is my favorite RDP! Yes, Aurora's voice is based on Bill Cosby. I read the story, but I was much more interested in the sequel, Pegasus Device, which dove into the psyche of the workers of the rainbow factory, it was interesting on that level at least. The recolored pinkie pony is called Surprise and is actually the pony our current Pinkie Pie was based on. Best quote "I want to be an Oompa Loompa! Take me to them , so the deed may be done!" ^_^
I know it is one of the biggest cliche with a character like Thrackerzod is that "she" get to love "her friends".
She is a millon year old star monster god who adore to kill and murder, still save them and I don't think because "normal ponies do that". Normall kids just die in a similar situation.
Best character development beside Twilight's.

Pogo the Clown(sometimes Patches the Clown) was serial killer John Wayne Gacy's day job. He'd perform at birthday parties, parades, and charitable events as the character, but usually would not commit murder in costume. Gacy's confirmed victims were all male, and heavily favored late teens to early twenties, while Pennywise heavily focused on children with no regard to gender. I don't remember how Pennywise was described in the book, but there are pictures of Gacy in costume online, and he doesn't look anything like the Pennywise from the miniseries or the recent theatrical release. About the only thing they really had in common was they were both clowns, the only evidence I could find that suggests Pennywise was based on Gacy is that Gacy was caught and tried at the same time King was said to be writing It.

The part with the puppy and the picture of the family and the crayons is a dig at how pointlessly cruel, to the point of absurdity, the process was in the fic. I mean really, did the machine REALLY work better if mechanical arms came out and broke the kids' bones first? Then again, it wasn't a fic that was dark, it was a fic written for the express purpose of being dark, so that kind of nonsense shouldn't really be surprising.
"Maintaining the title of Princess even though your parents are obviously dead." A princess is the daughter of the ruler. If her parents are dead, she's a queen. After all, it's the Kingdom of Equestria, not the Principality of Equestria.

it was a very good one I don't know which one is next but look forward to the one called The Nightmare hunting or the haunting nightmare I can never remember
not sure if anybody already explained it, but the entire opening section of the video is a thinly veiled take that at equestria daily. you see the same way the trixie variety show puts rainbow video in their roundup section, equestria daily did the same with flimflam's rainbow dash presents videos (probably for the same reason as mentioned in the video).
meanwhile the halfassed voice over by a person called alcapones was a barely hidden attack on shercloppones who did the friendship is witchcraft abridged series (i think they recently finished their series with the release of their second eqg video)
edit: oh yeah and about the songs, nearly ever rdp has one in it. i think there are about three that don't have one which are "bubbles", "spiderses" and "somewhere only we know", but the rest definitely does. there was one in cupcakes as well if you remember? the i got a feeling parody sung by pinkie^^
+thechatteringclown Regarding EQD, I talked about that in this video prior to starting the reaction. For the songs, yes, I remember the Hooked on a Feeling song, but it was a voice-over. I think the songs in this episode were from-scratch originals, as the melody wasn't recognizable at all. Of course I could be wrong, since I obviously haven't heard every song in existence.
Yeah, nobody's quite as good as Greg and Peti when it comes to making an uncomfortable fic absolutely hilarious.

Don't have much to say about all of the stuff in the aftermath. Though you really, really need to see some of the shorts they do. There is a lot of shorts based on Aurora with the masterful voice work of Remarkable DeMarcus! As well as a short based around the Celestia vs Luna moment of history in a short called "Budget Impasse". You will not regret it!
The spoiler could lead to either a boost to the fan-fic I am writing, or it could nuke it. So going to suck if Season 6 comes out near the end of my writing it, and sets my story on fire and I just have to delete the damn story.

And I so want to keep my story within show cannon of known stuff. Non-addressed stuff is more open.

Haven't watched the thing yet, but I heard you mention the whole EQD drama. Oh boy, there was even more.
For some of the female voice acting, Greg enlisted help from the team behind Friendship is Witchcraft, I think. But after seeing the joke "I don't try to understand the fillies in my life, I just enjoy their company"...someone on the team thought it was sexist and it created a bit of a coldline of communications between Greg and the help. Though, eventually it did get smoothed over and things got back on track.
This is just a very controversial episode, isn't it?

I know I'm late, but fun fact: Aurora was the name of author of the Rainbow Factory fanfic, so that pony is her personal avatar, I guess she made that character so that she could suffer beside the ponies she was torturing. (Probably reading too deep into it though.)
