Legendary Defender definitely has my favorite overall cast. Mostly because their chemistry in scenes together is spectacular and they're all very talented voice actors. The writers and directors really pushed to have a skilled and balanced cast, and I think that shows in their choices. (Their chemistry isn't shown in the video at all really, but if you watch the show it's definitely there.) Some of the VAs from older incarnations of Voltron sound pretty good, but not that many, most are pretty awkward and some could even be considered a bit uninspired. (Especially the original cast, Sven and Pidge's 80s voices hurt me)
According Neil Ross it was something he came up on the spot as he thought the character was going a one off type of character. Ever since doing Pidge Ross has stated that people either love or hate the character and some say that they can do the voice better he could. To be honest it's better than his Sylvester Stallone impression on Rambo: The Force Of Freedom
The new voice acting is not only a million times better but just sounds a lot more natural and suits the characters a lot more,, it doesn't sound forced and deep

I hope the original voice actors for Voltron cameo in the new series. Like if they flashback to the Paladins of 10.000 years ago and two of them are voiced by Micheal Bell and Neil Ross, with Peter Cullen voicing Coran's grandfather. Wouldn't that be fitting casting.

I didn't realize how awesome the new Voltron is until I went back and re-watched some of of the 80s Voltron after marathoning Voltron: Legendary Defender. I still love Defenders of the Universe (and will watch it any day!) but Legendary Defender blows it out of the water- from the voice acting to the animation, to the stories and character development. The voice cast has great chemistry and is pretty perfect.
The voice talents of the original casts such as Neil Ross, BJ Ward and Michael Bell is light years ahead of the new guys, I have not seen the new voltron cartoons, and I doubt I will, I will just stick to the old days and enjoy the nostalgia the old school guys give to me.. So talented they could do so many characters distinctively and one would never know.
