Part 10 of an ongoing series which discusses whether the Bible presents a difference in meaning between being “begotten” versus “created” as well as the concept of “time” in the Bible. Our focus in this series is also to determine whether the way these terms and concepts are presented in the Bible is consistent with how they are used and understood by Trinitarians.

How could Jesus be both the “root” (ancestor) and “offspring” of David? (Rev. 5:5; Rev.
22:16), since both terms refer to a genealogical tree?
A. That Messiah is the “offspring” of Jesse (David’s father) is stated in Isaiah 11:1.
B. That Messiah is also the “root” of Jesse (David’s father) is stated in Isaiah 11:10.
C. Jesus posed this paradox to the scribes and Pharisees, which they could not
answer because of their Unitarian presuppositions (Matt. 22:41-46).
D. Jesus solved the riddle in Rev. 22:16.

@@CWJahTube I see. I'm mostly Agnostic, but I have been recently looking into Christianity to answer some of the tougher questions I have had. I have had most of my problematic questions answered for the most part, but it seems that this may be another issue I need to look into. I have seen verses in the Old Testament that actually potray a Trinitarian concept. You may be aware of the scriptures I'm referring to and may know how to dispute them.

Exactly. Once you figure out and quote verse 15 you'll be close! You'll still need to master 1 Corinthians 8:6 though, so...

@ArtofRobinMitchell "ALL things" is in the context of him as the exception, "Firstborn of all creation." The same "all things" is used in verses 20 and 23 and also requires exceptions. So we're right and you're wrong. Sorry!

The trinitarians always talk about the trinity as jesus and god but never discuss the holy spirit as the 3rd person,Genesis 1:1 it states and the spirit of God was moving over the face of the earth,this scripture clearly the spirit is not a 3rd part of a trinity its the spirit of God that he uses to perform all that he desires,simples
Yeah one of the most weird things about the trinity is if the Father is Holy & Spirit then why the need for another separate Holy Spirit person, and if so what is the Holy Spirit's name?

@@theuncreatedlight4717 it's revealed. That is how God revealed himself. There is no "necessity." And the Spirit is talked about distinct from the Angel of the Lord, and Yahweh
@@blusheep2 it's not just in Genesis. Justin Martyr had a debate with Trypho the Jew proving the Trinity from the Old Testament. I'd give it a read. He was an early Orthodox Christian Martyr in the post-apostolic period.
Begotten. = "brought into existence."
Create. = "To bring (something) into existence."
Father. = "a man in relation to his child or children."
...Jesus was created by his father and God Jehovah. Case closed.
