    I'ts 4:33AM in the morning for me. I woke up around 3AM. I guess I was still nervous after today (you'll see why in a few lines) and I just fell right into a Disney song marathon.
    In Pocahonta's "If I never knew You" I saw in the comments that it had been erased in the theatrical release, just as this song hadn't been included in the Aladdin movie. I had never heard "Proud of your Boy" in my life so I immediately looked for it.
    In just a few verses I realised this song captures just how I've always felt about my Father and Mother. I've never really been a problem child but I think I have haunted myself with expectations and a very unhealthy guilt complex for years now. It's not their fault in any case. They've just been everything for me. They've held me upright every day of my life, and so I've always felt this dread... this fear of not being worthy of their infinite love and their efforts to help me be the best man I can be.
    Just today, I've had an interview for a very good position in a great firm after a year-long internship. I think it went really well. I really do. On Monday I'm expecting to give my family some great news. This song has appeared in my life at such an important moment that I just couldn't hold back the tears while I listened 20 minutes ago, and can't hold them back either now as I write.
    It just hit me so very hard that I needed a moment to calm down, and then I just felt compelled to share this. I hope you don't mind.
    For all of you out there still on their way, hold fast.
    I'm sure you'll have your moment for everything to finally pay off.
    My best wishes to you all.

    I just watched the live-action remake. It was great, but I'm disappointed they didn't put in this song. I know that Aladdin's mother isn't a big part of the plot, but as many have said, this song gives depth to Aladdin himself. Plus, I think this song is even more powerful in the context of his mother being a posthumous character, with Aladdin saying/singing the things he wished he could've told his mother but never had the chance to.

    • @vainezaiven6677
      @vainezaiven6677 4 года назад

      I agree. This song actually doesn't really work if the mother is a living, breathing character that Aladdin can interact with whenever he feels like it. It works MUCH better--in fact I would say it ONLY works--in the context of her already being dead and Aladdin is singing it to himself in her honor.

  • @vainezaiven6677

The way the founder explains it, he went to go see his daughters who were performing in their school’s staging of Aladdin, and was thrown aback once he started hearing a boy singing this song (whom he referred to as effeminate), and looked out in the audience, wondering who in the hell would be proud of him...yeah. Sounds like an awesome origin story.

      But what I think is more funny is that my comment above is genuine. I mean, you already blew your chances of me being nice to you, but i wrote my comment hoping that people not knee deep in in the McInnes kool-aid would realize they are being played. And if you don't believe me look up how he tried do throw the alt knights under the bus.

    If you think about it this song is kinda sad because it talks about his parents being dead while he's trying to do his best. Another reason would be when he says "cross his stupid heart" Its kinda sad to put yourself down. This is just my opinion, It's still one of my favorite songs in the broadway performance for when i saw it.

      the song to me makes me think of "Go The Distance" from Hercules. I kinda have the feeling it might've been intentional after this song was cut. Kinda like they wanted a darker death scene for gaston and they basically ended up making it with different characters later in lion king for scar.

      @@QueenofWheels Bigots? The Proud Boys are highly diverse. Black, White, Hispanic, and Latino, and many gay men as well make up their membership. Really odd that leftists will call an extraordinarily diverse group bigots, while AntiFa is a white organization that attacks random people and will use racist racial epithets against black conservatives or black police officers. The Proud Boys have never been and are not racist.
