Honestly, Murphy’s my favourite character. Not only because of his ruthless sarcasm, but because he’s real. He’s not a “hero” but he’s also not a “bad guy”.

The beginning where he said despite him changing his ways people still treated him like garbage really spoke to me because everyone except Emori, Abby, and Jaha treat him like he is nothing and that is so screwed up. Everybody on that show has done bad things. I challenge you to name a character that doesn't have blood on their hands. And yet Murphy is treated like scum. In season four it was really made apparent when someone said that they didn't think he had it in him(he did something kind of heroic but I won't say what in case you haven't seen it) and Abby replies that she always knew he had it in him. And Raven is especially nasty too him, saying things like once a cockroach, always a cockroach and you aren't fooling anyone, you're still a d*ck. And then there is Bellamy's callous response to hearing how he was tortured for three days by the grounders and saying he wouldn't have given in and given away information because he's a better person. Still he takes it all in stride and just keeps his distance from others for the most part. He helps when he is need and yet rarely is he thanked. He has to be all levels of screwed up and still he rarely shows emotion. Murphy has had one of the worst deals on the show. His dad is floated trying to save him, mom becomes abusive drunk who blames him, mom dies, gets arrested as a teen, sentenced to die, hung for a crime he didn't commit, banished, tortured, given a virus, bitten by that snake-thingy and left for dead, locked in a bunker for months, raped, and yet somehow he keeps on going. He's a survivor.
Oh no...He was always my favourite character and now you just put everything that was clear to me into a beautiful argument that brings me to tears. The "oh no" was because I realised everything that happened to him and it makes me sad. Thanks for this. I'm being sincere, not sarcastic. I always have a sarcastic tone so I feel like that might carry through to my comments even when I'm being sincere

clarke literally tried blaming him for what finn did. that was the moment i started not liking clarke which i know is an unpopular opinion but idk she scares me lmao
She is a hypocrite didn't like her from the start, she always says "I had to/I was trying to say people/I did it for humanity etc" for every awful thing she does. And I have never understood her dislike and anger for Murphy cause it's baseless, he has helped and saved her and her friend more times than they give him credit for. I it weren't for Murphy saving them Bellamy and Clarke would have died at multiple occasions.
I sometimes understand Raven's anger at Murphy(cause she is in constant pain and almost crippled because of him) but not anyone else's especially not Clarke's.

SPOILERS FOR ALL SEASONS
I hated Clarke. She always said that she "had no choice" when she always did. She killed so many people and said that she was sorry but she didn't care. If she cared she would have done something to change it. "I'm doing it for my people" but how many times has she had the option to save more of humanity and didn't take it saying that she was saving humanity. They made it seem like she was the hero when everyone else did far more than her. At the end of season seven, she couldn't save the world Raven, Octavia, Echo, Murphy and others did that because she failed. She would have died in the first season of it weren't for Finn, Bellamy, and Murphy. Yet everyone treated her like the hero. I did enjoy that she didn't transcend when everyone else did. The show finally recognized that she is the absolute worst.

I feel so bad for him. I love him. Hes the best character on this show in my opinion. He went through so much and has come so far....hes survived. 💜 he will always be my favorite

Best ending for him, I love him so much, I'm so proud he chose to save Emori even if we had to die. Finally, he's able to live with the love of his life, so happy for him
He's an eternally strong character, his actions cause him to shut everything and almost everyone out. He's had so many problems come aftee him, his past one of them but he still stands. He's be stabbed and tortured in other ways yet he still stand after EVERYTHING that has happened. Besides all the killings and bad decisions he's a good person deep down.

So Murphy end up killing a few people for self preservation and he becomes a bad guy for every charterer and they start treating him like shit, he talks his way out of situations he is called a cockroach, he looks out for himself (cause no one else looks out for him) and he is called selfish, he is deemed unworthy of saving and redemption from almost every character in the show etc. He fights for himself (because no one else thinks he is worth fighting for or saving ), that too he does just by talking his way out of situations and less with killing etc. He has killed far less people the any other character in the show even Raven has contributed in killing more people than Murphy has. Everyone calls Murphy out on looking out for himself. Why exactly? How is surviving using your mind worse than surviving by killing/or helping in killing hundreds of people?
Octavia killed for revenge so many times she is worth saving and is redeemable? Clarke, Bellamy etc killed thousands of people because they didn't want to negotiate with people and for their "for the greater good/for the good of humanity/for our people" crap and they are redeemable? I mean think about it: they barbecued hundred grounders in season 1, in season 2 they never once considered making negotiating donating blood/bone marrow for their people's return with mount weather they just went in for a fight and killed them all without once taking matter to the negotiating table, Bellamy lead a massacre with Pike and the others in vengeance in season 3(that too at their allies not enemies) etc. Octavia kills anyone she wants saying it because she is on a mission or for vengeance etc she has even killed just for power. And these characters are on forgive and forget terms and are treated on the basis "you can over come your demons" but not Murphy.
Remember when Finn killed innocent people just because he couldn't find Clarke? Everyone in the characters was like oh he is innocent, he didn't mean to, he was upset. And they have a problem with Murphy trying to survive.
Plus Murphy saved all of them multiple times just because he happened there. And they all deliberately put Murphy in situations where he can potentially die.
murphy is my favorite character in the show. yes at first he was kind of an asshole but there was reason behind everything he did. & after being hung what the hell do you expect someone to do. he was tortured and hurting and broken all along and he really was the character that caught my eye in his story. i love murphy, especially after he meets emori and i think richard did an amazing job playing this physco yet amazing character from the start.

Let’s be honest everyone hated Murphy in the first few seasons but all of a sudden everyone’s in love with him... tell me I’m wrong??
I didn't hate him from the start, I found him interesting, yeah he did questionable things in season one but so did everyone else. I started following his story-line more intently from the moment they tried to hang him on a false accusation, refused to acknowledge that they did anything wrong with him and then banished him.
Then again I am a huge fan of Klaus Mikaelson from The Originals, so I think i was bound to follow an antihero's story here too.

What’s funny is that I only started watching the 100 in season 2 because my dad had already been watching and I was kinda watching over his shoulder and slowly getting interested. 5 minutes after seeing Murphy walking through the desert with Jaha, I turned to my dad and was like “WHO IS THIS GUY?? HES AUTOMATICALLY MY FAV CHARACTER NOW” and when he said John Murphy I think I was the only person who was calling him John until I saw no one called him that and got very confused lmao
