Completed it yesterday. Damn it's good, one of the best metroidvania's ever. Fantastic platforming sections, fun puzzles, great combat and boss battles. This game is (for me) better than Hollow Knight. Favorite metroidvania game to date.

Clayton is a gaming master!!! This game has officially been added to my backlog. I am overwhelmed at its sheer size, I must admit.
It is big. But every stage is so good.
Clayton, great review! Personally, this was one of the biggest surprises I have EVER had in gaming (I’ve been gaming since the 80’s). I was expecting this game to be the typical Metroidvania that takes about 5-10 hours to finish but instead, it turned out to be an epic adventure with great controls, fun combat and a HUGE map to explore! What a phenomenal game!
It reminded me a lot of Rayman Origins/Legends many times while I was playing it.
Dang, I didn't know you did game reviews.. I haven't gamed in forever but the POP sands of time was a favorite.

I finished the game in 31 hours, 74% completion in items found, and almost the entire map filled out minus maybe a few unknown hidden rooms and one tough platforming challenge room I gave up on. Excellent Metroidvania, up there with some of my faves in the subgenre like Castlevania SOTN, Super Metroid, Ori and the Will of the Wisps (Ori 2, much better than Ori 1), and Hollow Knight.
It's something in me that makes me 100% something I spent cash on
I love the prince of Persia series. These are the kind of games I love. Going to grab it on my switch.

Hi. Just wanted to make you aware but you may know. Prince of Persia is a name that was given to a bene'haElohim, i.e son of God, gone rogue, later a fallen one. This name was mentioned of this entity in the Bible, Daniel 10:13.

Yes! That was me! Drawing Metroid maps while in elementary school when I should have been paying attention. Metroid on NES is the first game I ever beat.

Thank you for being honest about the difficulty of the game and how of a masterpiece this game is.
I played the 1st Prince of Persia, on diskette, basically our problem was that our PC was too slow, PoP used the CPU-clock for the FPS, so for us the whole game was in slowmotion.
But try Metroid Samus Returns for the 3DS, this is a remaster of the original GB game Metroid II The Return of Samus, they added color, a counterattack and free aiming, other then that its so close to the original, and as i recall completely rewritten because the engine did not work for 3DS, a labour of love, this game to me is THE metroid game.

It's on every platform. I bought it on Nintendo Switch. But it's on Xbox, Playstation 4 and 5, and I'm sure it's on Steam too for PC.

As of now Game of the Year. Maybe there will be something better but this is 9/10 for me. Great metroidvania. I played maaaaany of them (this year also great The Last Faith came out and is also very good) but I can think only 2 better MVs than Lost Crown - Castlevania Circle of the Moon and Bloodstained Ritual of the Night.
Thank you. I was definitely interested in your take on this game. Currently I have been really enjoying the Tomb Raider Remastered collection not only because it is a remaster done right but because it is based on older games before all the current woke nonsense, I knew I would actually be able to enjoy it. Woke culture is killing gaming and really everything else it is touching. Outside of Nintendo games and retro games, many developers now care more about pushing their woke agenda rather than making a fun game. Nice to see that is not the case with this new Prince of Persia game.
Sadly, when I heard you are actually not the prince, but you are rescuing the Prince of Persia I started to roll my eyes and think there is going to be a "twist" in the end, and they will end up being gay lovers. I have been burned so much by many modern games and their "twist" or "big reveal". If that is what people want, let them know in the beginning so they can get that but for those not looking for that, the whole "bait and switch" thing is getting tiring and has to stop. Again, thanks for the review. Now it is just a matter of deciding if I should get it for the Switch or on Steam to play on my Steam Deck. Looks like this is something I can share with my teenager as well.

Also highlights how important Japanese game developers like Nintendo are to the gaming industry and its future and why their games are timeless. Hack n' slash w no puzzles!! lol! It sounds like someone believes PoP started w the Sands of Time & is still desperately awaiting a sequel to PoP 2008. Except The Lost Crown is the natural evolution of the PoP series...(?)
An unreleased 3D PoP title dubbed PoP: Assassin was eventually released by UbiSoft in 2007 instead under the title Assassin's Creed...& with new tech developed, in 2008, Ubisoft released the Prince of Persia. & Moving forward, Assassin's Creed would become the default 3D successor to Prince of Persia in 3D...& rightfully so - Assassin's Creed sold some 14 million units while no single 3D PoP title from Sands of Time to Prince of Persia could break just over 2 million units sold upon release. In fact, Assassin's Creed went on to release several subsequent titles & every single one released outsold the ~2 million units of the best of the 3D Prince of Persia titles within their 1st year following launch.
Prince of Persia simply returned to its roots as a platformer. & I'm not usually one who plays platformers, but it certainly has not remained a stagnant genre. & There has been lots of innovation compared to old platformers that PoP has clearly integrated. In fact, it's probably because of how complex & difficult the puzzles in today's platformers get for why I'm so hesitant to engage platform games.
As for how a platformer game is a Hack n' Slash...? That's a difficult one to understand...Dungeon Crawlers are traditionally considered Hack n' Slash; ...Dynasty Warriors is Hack n' Slash. PoP is not Hack n' Slash...(?)

For me Ori and the Blind Forest is the best Metroidvania...i love that whimsical fantasy style, but damn that game was hard. Anyway...i played all of the Prince of Persia games (and watched the movie) but heard only mediocre thing about this one, keeping you in high regard as a man of integrity i'll try and find time and check it out.

Normally ww2 movies and games are heavily biased towards US and UK involvement forgetting that Russia lost 23 million fighting the Nazis before the U.S. really even showed up on DDay. Anyway just curious what that game gets wrong. Never played it.

And the historical meaning of ww2 is just wrong, so I stopped playing even though I had purchased the Xbox one battlefield edition.

As a guy who doesn't really like the genre and grew up with the Prince Of Persia trilogy and the 2008 game, this game hurts my soul. Its art style is just a visual mess of popular modern things. What happened to prince? Why his replacement is wearing this stupid modern trendy haircut i see everwhere? What happened to the mysterious arabian tale atmosphere that the oldrr games had? Its just isn't for me.
