Thank you for another informative video Dr. Prasad!! You explain things so well.
You're welcome, Linda Liffers. I'm glad you found it informative. Thanks for watching!
No doctor talks about how long it ACTUALLY takes to heal, you may look okay after 2 weeks but you are certainly not done healing at that time, you are still having scar healing and experiencing that wooden or tight feeling, some numbness in the lids even through 16 weeks and longer, especially if you are older...so while you look great doesn't mean you aren't still "feeling" the effects of healing which takes months, many months!!!!
Hi Terri Timmons,
I actually made videos about healing after hooded eyelid surgery, lower eyelid surgery, and eyelid ptosis correction surgery, so I am a doctor who does talk about it. For your reference:

Dr. Skin booster injections are very safe unlike risky fillers ?
Any age ?
Does it help with smile lines ?
Hi Anu m,
As I've answered several times in your questions, the risk of fillers are minimized by the experience of the doctor performing the treatment. Skin Boosting is not an injection, so it doesn't penetrate past the dermis. It may help improve the appearance of smile lines. I normally treat facial aging, but you haven't indicated your age, and I haven't examined the effects of aging on your skin, so I can't really answer your question about age. I hope this clarifies things for you.
hi, Dr Prasad. I'm a doctor from malaysia. I saw alot of videos of subcuticular running closure for eyelid surgery using non-absorbable sutures(prolene) instead of absorbable sutures. is there any particular reason for the preference? Wouldn't absorbable suture do better for this closure technique as we dont have to remove the suture afterwards? Which method & material of suture yields best cosmetic results for eyelid skin closure in your experience? Thank you for your informative videos.
Thanks for video, I had it down when I was 6 or 7 and they got the surgery wrong twice, leading to me being verbally bullied from when I was 12-16, I’m now 29 and still can’t move on from it, I’m filled with rage all the time from it, is there any surgery that can help my eyelids level again, basically my right eye can’t shut fully, my left one is normal but I have scar on my eyelid so my eyelid looks diagonal compared to the other eye, it makes me look ugly leaving me with no confidence what so ever
Hi @jamesfellender5393,
Sorry to hear about your problem. Eyelid reconstruction may still be possible, as I do specialize in more complex eyelid surgeries. A physical examination is needed to determine what can be done in your case.

Hi Doc-
I have a question, so I've had asymmetry in my eyes for a long time.. there's definitely extra skin on my left eye but I've also noticed the difference in orbital bone around my eyes compared the left to right.. would this mean I would need not only upper eyelid surgery but also hyaluronic acid filler in the bone area?
Hi Niko Paz,
The procedures are a possibility, although I can't tell what you need for sure without an examination. If you can see us for an examination, a local doctor who specializes in the eye area may help you with recommending specific procedures. I hope this helps you.
Is prp injections very effective for dark circles ? It's for my mother
skin booster treatments are injections ?.....can this be done at any age , if no skin concerns ?
Hi Anu m,
PRP injections, along with other possible modalities, are very effective in improving the appearance of dark circles. You can refer to these videos about treating dark circles:
ruclips.net/video/QBvjjvxPt2g/видео.html
ruclips.net/video/S6_nTRr1tio/видео.html
ruclips.net/video/jQUb67RpaAM/видео.html
ruclips.net/video/RHJodb437o4/видео.html
Skin Boosting is not an injection, but rather a milder form of microneedling, where PRP and hyaluronic acid can be administered past the outer layer of skin. Since you indicate you are only 25, I would have to see if you actually need skin rejuvenation at such a young age. I hope this clarifies things for you.
I am not satisfied with my frontalis sling surgery. It is unfortunate that i cannot see any oculofacial surgeon here in the Philippines. My ptosis was under corrected and the crease is too high... can that still be adjusted? My procedure was open with lid formation. I am not sure if the incision was 10mm above my eyelash line. My surgeon was a bit conservative with the lid height to avoid lagopthalmos. I want to scream every time i look at my pictures.
What can be done to correct this? Thank you Dr. Prasad...
Hi Caloy A,
Sorry to hear about your problem. Any surgeon experienced in ptosis surgery knows that additional enhancement is sometimes needed because it is such a precise surgery. Your surgeon should have a revision policy in place for eyelid ptosis correction as it is the nature of this surgery to sometimes need further work soon after healing. I hope this helps you.
Dr. What are the procedures in clinic u recommend for a great party glow ?
Hi Anu m,
PRP injections, Skin Boosting, or Hydrafacial are possibilities.
Chin augmentation , fillers , jawline fillers make changes only in side profile ?.....not in front profile ?
Is it safe ?
How long does it last
Hi Anu m,
Changes to the jawline will also affect the appearance of the front of the face because it adds projection. More viscous hyaluronic acid fillers used in the jawline and chin such as Juvederm Voluma can last up to two years. I hope this clarifies things for you.
@@AmiyaPrasadMD is it 💯 💯 safe unlike lip fillers ?
What is the minimum age to do ?
Dr....if u have pics showing its effects in front profile ....plz share
Hi Anu m,
Lip filler treatment is safe when done by an experienced doctor. You can refer to this video about the risks of lip filler treatment - ruclips.net/video/GO1taD9mtKs/видео.html
I only recommend facial fillers for volume loss due to aging, and in young adults whose faces have stopped growing, but have a genetic volume deficiency. You can refer to these videos to see the different angles of jawline, and chin filler:

Do you guys take care credit?
Hi Natasha Barfield,
Yes, we do accept Care Credit. I often recommend doing both upper and lower eyelid surgery at the same time as it does save on costs for you to have them done together instead of separate surgeries, and it also saves you on downtime. Hello Dr prasad how to reduce the redness from hypertrophic scar, what type of gel or cream have to apply to recuce it
Hi Judicious Kharbuli,
Redness from hypertrophic scar is not that straightforward to treat, so it needs to be examined first, with possible treatments including laser treatment, or steroid injections. I hope this clarifies things for you.

For a 25 yrs old. What procedures do u recommend for a very great party glow ? .......not hydra facial
I don't have scars.
Hi Anu m,
25 is still very young, so you should have a natural glow to your skin. I would have to see your skin to determine if you need any treatment at all. I hope this clarifies things for you.
@@AmiyaPrasadMD ok doc....I don't have any skin concerns in particular and I have a glow as well .....but since it's my brother wedding coming.....so any procedure u can suggest for an immense party glow
Hi@@anum3702,
I don't normally recommend procedures to someone without an examination, and like I said you are still very young, so you should have naturally glowing, dewy skin. I suggest you enjoy your youth instead of worrying about cosmetic procedures meant for people who want to look as young as you are. I hope this clarifies things for you.
@@AmiyaPrasadMD oh...thanks a lot doc
I asked because a dermat nearby told in general that microdermabrasion , skin booster injections , HA lip filler can be done by everyone irrespective of their age and skin conditions
Hi@@anum3702,
Your dermatologist who examined your skin can recommend treatments for you, so I hope you understand why I can't make recommendations for you without examining your skin.
Hello, I am not sure if this is the best place to ask questions but, 9 weeks ago I had levator resection for ptsosis/ brow lift for brow ptosis / and blepharoplasty. My healing has been fantastic as I already look almost healed the scars are minimal and i had zero pain after the surgery. But what I was not expecting is to have my eyes open at night still at the 9week mark... i have to heavily lubricate my eyes and tape them quite harshly to keep them from opening in the night and they still do. Also my eyelids shake like crazy when they are closed. I am trying my best not to worry but I wonder if this is a bad sign at my 2 month mark. My eyes when im not sleeping close fine, and blink function is fine, but the spasms and eyes opening in the night frighten me. Thank you for reading
Hi @Nitirii,
Sorry to hear about your problem. Eyelid ptosis correction, and upper eyelid surgery in general has great results, and overcorrection separated by millimeters, so it's a highly precise procedure. Any surgeon experienced in ptosis surgery knows that some additional enhancement may be needed for eyes to full close at night. I suggest you follow up with your surgeon to properly assess your eyelid function. I would have to perform a physical examination, as well as review the medical records of your previous surgery to give you a proper second opinion. I hope this helps you.
@@AmiyaPrasadMD Thank you so much for the speedy response, I have followed up with my surgeon and all he said was it can take upto a year for my eyes to close at night comfortably, but i should be better in another month? and he asked me if i was exaggerating my eyelids shaking when closed, which was a bit unsettling to me. But he said he can give me botox in the area to help with the spasms. (He does not seem to have any concern) Why I am wondering if this is very common side effect, with my 3 surgeries performed and to just be patient, or if this is something i should be getting a second opinion on. Its only been 2 months but my healing looks like its going so well that I worry these 2 things are actual complications I might be having now. How often can this happen / when should I worry? I live too far away from you for a physical examination D:
Hi@@Nitirii,
It's hard to say it's common as the extent of levator muscle resection does vary, from mild, to more extensive. I suggest you keep your affected eyelid well lubricated at night, your eye protected, and see how things improve with time. If improvement in closure is not noticed by the 6 month point where most post-surgical swelling has dissipated, then a second opinion can be sought. I hope this helps you.
I have up eyelids operation for three months, but my eyelids uneven so badly, I wonder whether you would do revision surgery for me. Thanks
Hi@@sammyyoung6324,
Three months is still too soon after your surgery to consider a revision, and temporary swelling may still be affecting the height of your crease. I suggest you wait at least 6 months after your surgery before considering a revision when temporary swelling resolves enough to see close to your final result, and swelling won't affect the accuracy of surgery. You can refer to this video about it - ruclips.net/video/WsriwbQmBrg/видео.html
LASIK can cause ptosis or hooded very rarely as side effects ?
Hi Anu m,
Lasik itself will not cause ptosis, but the process of keeping the eyelids open during the procedure needs to be done carefully to not damage the eyelids. I hope this clarifies things for you.
@@AmiyaPrasadMD dr in this comment u meant hooded eyelids or droopy eyelids ?
Hi@@anum3702,
Damage to the eyelids will not cause hooding, but damage to the upper eyelid muscle can potentially cause ptosis (drooping). I hope this clarifies things for you.
@@AmiyaPrasadMD doc. damages to lower eyelids can also happen in any ways ?
Hi@@anum3702,
I suggest you consult with a medical practice that performs laser refraction for the eyes about your specific questions for the procedure. I hope this helps you.
Hello Dr Prasad, is it possible to correct an over corrected (too high) sleepy eyelid procedure? It's been 6 months plus since my procedure. It looked better before surgery now I regret my decision.
Hi Millie Lu,
A 1-2mm difference between the height of both eyelids is normal, and unnoticeable to others, but I would have to examine the redness and pain more closely to determine how that could be addressed. I hope you understand that it's not my place to go against your doctor's advice since he knows your anatomy in detail, and the details of your surgery, and I'm unaware of these details. I hope this clarifies things for you.
@@AmiyaPrasadMD not sure if you were referring to my question/comment. I'm Marie but you addressed Millie Lu?
Hi@@marierose9144,
Sorry, RUclips error. It is possible to have your ptosis surgery revised. I suggest you ask your surgeon about it as enhancement is sometimes needed with eyelid ptosis surgery as it is very precise, so your surgeon should have a revision policy in place. If you would like a different surgeon for the revision, a physical exam, as well as your records of your previous surgery are needed to determine the approach to your revision. I hope this clarifies things for you.
@@AmiyaPrasadMD thanks for your response Dr. Prasad

While your condition has not been assessed as normal asymmetry, or congenital lower eyelid retraction, if your lower eyelid needs to be raised, there is no non-surgical way to do it. You can refer to this video about it - ruclips.net/video/pMezey-K9Ww/видео.html

Hi Saabi,
It's not clear if your current results are due to new orbital fat prolapse, or if not enough orbital fat was removed during your initial surgery. The results of lower eyelid surgery usually last 10-20 years, or even longer. An examination is needed before I can give you a proper opinion.
