I see that more and more channels are starting to make my Through The Lenses Videos :) Well, we started a standard I Guess :) So: HP reverb G2, Oculus Rift S or Valve Index???? :)
Unfortunately we have even lower quality than the Rift S. ;) One thing we do have though is two OLED screens, rather than one LED screen like in the Rift S. So we have deeper, perfect blacks and in some ways better colours than Rift S, I think, plus better refresh (90Hz). But obviously just no comparison to Index or Reverb G2, even if they don't have the deepest blacks, they win on anything else. Mind you I got my CV1 for 300€, and the Reverb G2 is easily double that. But I can't say I'm not tempted. I'd have to see how much I can sell my CV1 for to mitigate the upgrade cost. I will still wait though to see the final verdict on the tracking, which I haven't seen anyone really talk about. I won't settle for anything less than the best tracking. ;)
It's Official, you are the KING of Through The Lenses! Thank You for your hard work, and Thank You for getting this Video up fast for us. Thumbs Up Tyriel. ppfffttt.......This should be the standard going forward, 2160 by 2160.

As the stunning PC you need to run it. 2160 x 2160 each eye? Not even this next generation of GPUs will be able to sustain such a resolution at 90 fps with good image settings in most games. Forget then altogether supersampling.
@@drakemaroc Sure can. You have a GPU that can power 4220 x 4220 resolution with 90 fps at high settings in games like Assetto Corsa Competizione, how not. Probably you come from the future and you have access to hardware that's not made yet, and that it will not exist probably until 2021. A 2080ti cannot reach 90 fps on a Rift S in ACC (or similar other modern games with intensive graphics) but your GPU "can" with more than double the total resolution to deal with, sure. Try for fun putting 2x supersampling on a Rift S in ACC and enjoy puking all over the floor after 3 seconds of gameplay.
We all saw it coming when FB bought out Oculus shortly after successful Kickstarter. Oh well, if it wasn't for them and the sell-out, the VR scene would not be as abundant as it is now, I reckon.
It almost seems like people don't consider minimally the specs required to run a G2. Sure, it has a crisp image but that's because it has 2160 x 2160 resolution on both eyes! Do you understand the amount of power you need to run such a resolution at a stable 90 fps? Neither the coming next GPU generation will be able to sustain such a resolution with decent settings in the vast majority of titles (apart from the simple ones). It looks good, sure, but to run that headset properly you will need to wait 2021 for RNDA 3 and 7nm Nvidia chips to come.
@@lavir74 I have the G1 with the same resolution panels and a 1080ti. Runs smooth for most titles mate. Games like DCS you will need to dial back the graphics but is still more then playable and looks crisp as.
You'll see quite a difference with the grey blacks which breaks all immersion. I've preordered a G2 but won't be using it for dark games. Wish someone would bring out a comfortable oled panel headset with good audio and higher resolution :(
@@Tiv3e yes have seen this, very black for elite dangerous and big screen etc but CV1 was very hard to read menus so hope can adjust blacks enough in RG2 to be acceptable.
Really great, thank you! (although it was VERY STRANGE to keep swapping up the left to right order, one excepts the Index etc. to come up again, where it did before, not suddenly be in a different spot. With this 'feature', rather than relaxing into analzying, and not worrying aboyt what will be where,., instead, one has to read the text names of each and every one, every single time, IDEALLY BEFORE taking in the visuals, in order to get the most out of it. Really a very big (likely unintended) negative effect from a small editing choice, I wonder what you are thinking while doing it, (if you think tthere is some reason to swap them up) I politely mentioned this last time too, but I guess you didn't understand... So close to perfect and this strange choice, I can't imagine why.!
I liked it this way. Made it easier to see what my bias was causing. If it looked better because I thought it would look better. Also allows for more directly comparing different headsets.
I agree. I put the titles out of my mind to keep my bias in check, intending to only glance down afterward to mark my preference. But once I noticed he was swapping them, I found myself checking the title first and more often; so if it was intentional it actually had the opposite effect. Just made the effort to remove bias require more effort.
Wow, what a great comparison, mate! You did fantastic. I've been playing alot of Assetto Corsa on my Rift S and always thought it looked quite good, but the difference in clarity, especially in the distance with the G2 are astounding! I'm glad I preordered it already in July. Can't wait to get it!
I pre-ordered my G2 a couple of days ago, I CANNOT be more hyped for it! It's (understandably) on a massive backorder right now so I won't get it until December but my god after seeing these videos that wait is more than worth it!
a brightness slider is essential. i can change the backlight levels on my tv, my monitor, my phone. why not on my vr headset? a screen is a screen. and it would be very beneficial depending on type of game being played etc. i consider it a necessary feature that is all too often lacking.
@@AaronNickols88 that's good, do you know if you can with other headsets though? I can only speak for Gen 1 wmr and I don't think they have the option.
I love that your through the lenses videos have a "standard" few views that you constantly use, it's great to have such a standard. I've opened many of your videos side by side to see how different headsets stack up even if they weren't in the same episode.
Thanks for the amazing comparison. Though G2 has really good center resulution, it seems the sweetspot of the lens is rather narrow compared to the others. Sharpness drop quite quickly and even severe chromatic aberration appears. Hopefully at least they correct that in production model/firmware.
@@Begohan1234 yes they are. I said this why are they changing a major component so late and close to release unless this is the reason only a handful of review models were sent out yo wow the reviewers and get great reviews. I had my first view of VR in person the other day - my friend owns a HP Reverb G2 and he decided to show me the best that VR has to offer as my first ever experience... I put on the headset and loaded up Half Life Alyx and my god... Those first few moments on the balcony looking around.. grabbing stuff.. looking at the NPCs and cars down in the street.. Looking at the stairs, walls and junk lying around the rooms... It was absolutely mind blowing - like truly a portal into another world. It looked so real it was really like i was actually there! I don't know if the other lower resolution headsets would have offered that same experience since there was zero screen door effect on the G2 - everything around me looked real just like this video shows. I know now for sure that VR is the future of gaming - just need to tackle the motion sickness issue and then VR will be the new normal for video games I am sure.
@@cronus33 The Reverb is still set little bit too Bright Hp said. They still Work to give the Best Color Picture when they Ship it. So its gonna get even better.
I love that you also shared comparisons between the G2 and the original Rift and Vive, and would love to see more of this. It really puts these newer headsets into perspective, and for people like me, who to some extent contemplated buying a used last generation headset it helps with deciding what to actually get. The difference is night and day, and unless I manage to find an old headset at a really cheap price, it seems far better to go for something of the current generation, as it appears to be of an order of magnitude sharper.
Reverb G2 looks beautiful! I hope we witness a 8k VR headsets soon because its just so beautiful when we have high resolution vr headsets with big fovs.
No GPU currently available to consumers could drive it. Reverb G2 is pushing the resolution vs. performance boundary, where you're going to need a beefy GPU just to run most games at modest settings.
There is almost no content that is made for 8k, gaming sure, but you'd have such a low fps that it would not be worth it. Keep in mind the g2 will require basically a 2080+ next generation you will probably want a 3080 or 3080ti in your pc.
TheGoreforce of course there is content for that! You are going to be able to watch movies with less aliasing, and the readability for productivity applications will be better! Also, I don’t think that you are going to need a graphics card just because it’s available, a 1080 is still recommended on their website
@@dominicstocker5144 you talking rubbish. i have a 2080ti and i9 32gb ram and i have the valve index and i struggle with many titles to get a locked 90fps. i had the GTX 1080 before the 2080ti and i had to upgrade because all my games i liked to play ran like shit and that was on the index so the G2 will be a lot harder to run. Even if it runs like my index you still need a 2080ti to even get the most of it. you probably have a quest and an xbox
You're the best, everytime I look at a VR headset to buy, you have a video on it and in many cases, a through the lenses video as well for a *general* idea of how it might look compared to others. Thank you!
They really got that pixel gap down really far on the g2. That feels like the biggest improvement here which of course does come from the resolution, but having almost no percievable gaps between the pixels does so much!
I had an OG vive, got the vive pro but hated it, so I got the Index. Didn't arrive even after 2 weeks so I bought another one. Didn't arrive either after 2 weeks, so I decided to order the g2. Can't wait!
The king of TTL videos :) Just one observation, can you try and set weather conditions in game the same when it applies? For example, the in game conditions themselves are very different in Assetto Corsa, and even in ED the lighting is very different obviously due to planet position. Regardless, as you say these videos take a long time, so much appreciated and they are great. Thanks.
hey, i was thinking the saem. In some parts it shows the Rift S looking better than the index and better blacks lol. i take these through the lens videos with a pinch of salt
@911LookuptheLavonAffair yeah for some reason his index in comparison looks terrible compared to when im in my headset. I was thinking maybe fov combined with brightness a little too high? Not sure man. I purchased the index about month after launch and its better than i thought it would be. The more you use it..the more you love it. Wouldn't want any other headset
But does the hp have the fov that we got on index does ?does the hp have the refresh rate that we got ? Nope . I'm chilling over 144fps/hz with a wide field of view
@@AaronNickols88 not to mention they needed help from valve to complete the g2 because the g1 lasted how long?😂😂 what a joke of a life cycle. Dont listen to the index haters who never even touched an index!!
@@Vr_Demon_ not to mention Oculus rift only made it cause valve was the main devopler of both htc Vive and oculs rift , untill they make a different headset with over 130fov and above 144hz I'm sticking with my index
With the Valve Index not being available in all markets would it be possible to do a through the lens comparison between the Rift S, G2 and HTC Cosmos? These are available in all markets globally and it would be interesting to see the comparison between these. Awesome vids by the way and looking forward to more content.
They're both rendered at a similar resolution in SteamVR (Index is rendered at 1.4x native due to lens distortion whereas Reverb isn't), so performance will be relatively similar. I think the Reverb will have a render resolution that is effectively 5.5% higher.
@@christopherpope1800 I also have a 1080ti. Do you already own a headset? you can test the resolution in steam vr. Steam VR reads out the resolution you're currently running and you can bump that up to equal the G2s 2160x2160 per eye which is 4,665,600. For me, most of my games were ok.
@@mrexpendable1232 I feel like if I can run a quest with pc link on my 3700x w/ 2060 super - you should be fine with ur 1080ti. One thing to note. Even though the G2 has better resolution the Index has variable refresh rate - 90hz, 120hz, & I've heard a beta 144hz they are currently testing but don't quote me on that.
Something to note here is the colour balance displayed by the different headsets. The G2's colours look more warm whereas the colours of the Index and Rift S look more cold? Warm colours are better for the eyes at least which helps with eye strain etc due to less blue lighting.
This is the best comparison video I’ve seen yet - thank you! As much as I love the bump in resolution, I don’t think it’s enough of an overall upgrade from my current valve index. Now I’m hoping valve will come out with an announcement by the end of the year! :)
Yeah i will stick with 5k+ and wait for something new from Valve or an 8kx or something mind blowing next year hopefully. A Nvidia 3000 series GPU will be a more important purchase for myself at the moment. The G2 is perfect for someone new without basestations etc etc great deal.
Definitely just stick with ur valve. I just pre-ordered the G2. Was holding off to see what the new quest may offer but im over all the rumors and speculations. My only concern with the g2 was the controller tracking but I think diwn the road im just going to pick up some knickles and base stations. Figured it give me the best of both worlds.
Saif Khan - Yep, I’m staying with my index for now and I really can’t complain. I’m pretty sure the G2 is NOT compatible with knuckles and base stations however, but enjoy the best resolution!
@@dirkdex oh they are. Mrtv did an entire video dedicated to the g2 and him using it with knuckles and base stations. That was a big decision maker for me.
Just bought a Reverb G2 2nd hand to replace my Rift-S. I've used the G2 briefly last year on a buddy's PC, but these videos really remind me that it was the right call to upgrade. Rift works fine even today, IMO, as an entry level device to get you hooked. But I only do flight-sims in VR and after a while, the resolution of the Rift-S really started to bug me. Looking around the cockpit isn't so much the issue - that stuff still amazes me to this day. It's more the "looking out of your cockpit and trying to find and track enemy planes"-bit where you really need a sharper image. Now... all I need to do is decide on a new video card. I'd love the 4070 Ti, but I think it'll have to be the plain 4070. I don't really need the Ti's added power outside of VR and it's a little too expensive for my taste. Not that the non-Ti was a bargain, mind you ... :)
Thank you very much for this video and especially the little comparsion to the older Headsets like the Rift CV1 and Vive! I would love to see a more detailed comparison between the older headstes with the G2, since this is the sharpest headset. Also I would love to see you playing some Sims, especially the MSFS2020 with the reverb G2 or Xplane/DCS World, so you can share some expereince with performance and which PC Specs you can recommend. @@janred94 lol i can tell you as someone who has 2 rift s HMDs in the house and one index the Rift S is far from on par with the Rift S in clarity. The look it up they are no where near like one another. The clarity of the Index over the Rift S is mind blowing even more so in Sim racing. Lighting and weather conditions wipl have a huge impact on there through the lens videos and i understand it must he hard to get a one for one like results but i can tell you from experience these through the lens videos are nonsense. Anyone who have never tried the index or the rift s would believe due to watching these that they are about the same in clarity when that is completely untrue. Do you own the Index and Rift S or tried then side by side as i did when i first got the Index?
@@janred94 also remember these through the lens videos were done using the old lenses as HP have said they are changing the lenses and i quote "for far better ones" lol you only change a major component this pate if there was an issue So now we have no idea on sweet spot and glare as the new lenses may suffer poorly on both and this is why we watch these sort of videos so for HP to change the lenses after only sending out a handful of review models has me questioning why. Why only send less than 10 units out for review and then change the lenses that were in those models. I believe it to be less sent out less problems spotted. After all the trouble with the G1 i will hold judgement until it comes out but for me going down in F9V is a no no as i am a sim racer and the sense of speed you get from a large FOV is way more important than clarity as the index is clear anyway and at 150% Ss looks great and Automobilista 2 is just a next gen for VR imo. If you like sim racing try AMS 2 and be prepared to be blown away with how good it looks.

at 2:52 what are those dark blotches on black areas. didnt see that in mrtvs vids. looks like a really intense mura effect which is weird cause there mura is barely noticeable anywhere else. looks like its an issue with blending dark gray into black? and at 3:54 its not there at all. seems like its only there on still shots but not in motion. maybe its video compression artifacts. if you look at 6:23 - 6:25 (in full screen at 4k) youll see the frame change and the blotches become more apparent. thats on the rift s, so they are less obvious bc of the washed out colors and low resolution. but on the g2 its having to choose black or grey for so many small sets of pixels, to blend that gradient accurately would try to allocate a much higher bitrate (assuming its VBR), take much longer to render and create a much larger file size. so depending on the settings and behavior of the encoder, i think its hit its ceiling for how evenly it can blend the gradient at the max allowed bitrate. i dont deal with such high res footage so im not sure. but its definitely some kind of video artifact exaggerating the tiny mura pattern, which based on other through the lens shots, would be almost unnoticeable during use.
Hey Tyriel, great review as usual dude! I'd like to suggest being a bit more cognizant of the order even though you show the titles of the headsets. The production quality would just seem much better if the order of the headsets stayed the same and didn't switch around!
There must be different settings on Assetto corsa, on the tests. Cos only the Reverb have reflections of the foilage like the trees reflected on the cars chassi. Even if the other headsets have lower resolution, they would still reflect the same thing, but in lower resolution. But they dont reflect it at all, so the settings must be different, cos that has nothing to do with resolution.
The shots are obviously taken at different times. You cannot replicate perfectly the same exact parameters for both. Just a simple restart of the game can change how the scene is rendered, even when the settings are exactly the same in both instances. Many things change in the background when you restart a game: clouds, shadows, light etc. all get recalculated newly and very very rarely you obtain the same results (in fact it is almost impossible: just simply a change in the way clouds are positioned in the sky can dramatically alter the way the light plays with the environment). Watch every single graphic comparison video: if the scene has to be rendered anew you will notice many changes in lightning; in fact the more sophisticated and real time the engine is, the more the changes. In old engines, when lighting was all baked there were no changes because it was all pre-rendered, but when lighting is calculated in real time then exact shot comparisons become almost impossible to re-create.

The main thing im concerned about with the g2 is the lack of oled screens. I was playing my psvr earlier and the only time that ever even came *close* to being fully immersed in that headset was a dark murder mystery map in rec room where i got completely sucked in to the point that I literally confused the vr world with the real world and it felt incredible. Im scared that the black levels wont be as good and it will completely murder immersion in dark scenes despite the clarity adding so much immersion.
Awesome video! You show the differences in much more details than any other youtubers I have watched before. And you did focus on the important parts such as the horizon in race game. The text is also very interesting. Please do this kinds of video with all new headsets. I am also interested to see the same comparison between the reverb G2 and the Samsung Odyssey.
You can clearly see some aberrations and one thing I noticed is how your blacks looks way greyer than MRTV videos, so much that sometimes the rift s and index seems to have better blacks even after Sebastian commented how superior the blacks on the G2 are. Could it be because you may have a "older" version of the g2 headset? Or a headset with older lens?

What f-stop are you using on your camera? I’m just curious about the camera and settings. That will give me a lot of insight on what it will look like in person.
Excellent comparisons. The moving video one was good too! It helps show how the anti aliasing is resolved with each headset. Something you don't get in still photos.

Through the lens videos are certainly the best way for the viewer to see differences between headsets... BUT!!! ----> 1) Be VERY careful that they are in focus!! - there's a couple of shots where the G2 looks much more blurry than it should in comparison to the others. MRTV had to re-shoot a couple of videos when it became apparent the focus was obviously incorrect. 2) The vast majority of viewers will have no idea whatsoever of how this footage is captured and of the importance of spending enough time to properly set up and focus the camera.
You should keep the same order for the examples. If you start with riftS-Index-G2, stick with it. No big deal but it makes more sense and you get a progressive representation of quality too.
The G2 resolution is stunning and the colors look so natural. SDE is my biggest gripe with my Quest so really happy to see this almost gone in the G2. Really happy I pre-ordered.
This is the kind of video I wish everyone doing reviews of headsets would do. Actual visual proof of what they are seeing. That HP .. the visuals are so much better. It might be better to look into knuckle controllers and light houses. WMR tracking is a pain and was the main reason I was looking at the Index.
Thanks for the video. I have a g2 on preorder (upgrading from rift s) but from your video especially ac Is the g2 that much warmer in display colour ? On the rift s and index the sky was blue. In the g2 it was grey :/ Also the other thing I noticed was the g2 seemed a lot more blurred in the sides of the display even more than the rift s . Is that how it looks through it ?
At 9:40 the comparison to the HTC Vive is jaw dropping. I have pre-ordered the G2. Going from my current Original Vive to G2 must be like a person having poor eye sight wearing a proper prescription glasses for the first time. Can't wait!
11:16 Why did you change the game quality settings in this for the HP Reverb? There's no reflections on the car in either rift or index's picture? Are we REALLY doing a 1:1 comparison or are we skewing the results? Maybe we need to look at it more objectively.
The only way you can compare black levels on a video is get 2 identical images of a game in photoshop, look through odyssey and edit one of the images to how it looks in the headset and then do the same with g2 and upload the 2 images side by side. I did it with the cv1 and rift s when it first came out.

You nailed it, same here 🤩
Same. How do u like it now??
this man has definitely crossed into another dimension
I just sold my Rift S because of the Facebook requirement, getting a Reverb next.
We all saw it coming when FB bought out Oculus shortly after successful Kickstarter.
Oh well, if it wasn't for them and the sell-out, the VR scene would not be as abundant as it is now, I reckon.
Who cares
@@bve7397 well i care

I literally considered a rift until the FB requirement, the Reverb came along and I immediately knew what I was getting.
My mind says "YES!"
But my bank balance says "NO!"
I pre-ordered 🥳
Poor? solution is simple: get rich
heyjeySigma wow! Why didn't I think of that?!
My parents said I could get it as long as I shared with my brother 😒
But your credit card says "YES!"
I'm definitely getting G2 after this video, that will feel amazing after going from my old CV1
i bet it will, i jumped to the index after the cv1 and it was nuts, g2 looks crispy

@@David-tp7mc first time i hopped on pavlov after i got the index it really felt like that..
Great video Tyriel!! Blown away by the G2's clarity and color depth! Can't wait for it to release!
Going from a CV1 to Reverb G2 so expect it to be quite a difference, mostly played Elite and have Alex ready to go.
You take no risk ^^ don't worry! CV1 is just a pixel jam compared to even the worst of these 3 HMD
@@pinball16 yes, hoping the black levels are adequate!
You're right. It was indeed weird to see them switch places.
Wow, you do the best most professional through the lens videos I've ever seen! I know how hard that must be.
Wow, what a great comparison, mate! You did fantastic. I've been playing alot of Assetto Corsa on my Rift S and always thought it looked quite good, but the difference in clarity, especially in the distance with the G2 are astounding! I'm glad I preordered it already in July. Can't wait to get it!

a brightness slider is essential. i can change the backlight levels on my tv, my monitor, my phone. why not on my vr headset? a screen is a screen. and it would be very beneficial depending on type of game being played etc. i consider it a necessary feature that is all too often lacking.
Yep, definitely a must.
You can change index brightness levels in steam vr menu.

Thanks for the amazing comparison. Though G2 has really good center resulution, it seems the sweetspot of the lens is rather narrow compared to the others. Sharpness drop quite quickly and even severe chromatic aberration appears. Hopefully at least they correct that in production model/firmware.
This is likely due to the fact that it's being viewed through a camera. But yes, there will be better lenses coming on the production model.

Damn good! I was looking for a video like this, showing side-by-side of the different VR headset. Wonderful job, thanks so much!!
The reverb is scary clear and I think that the index does lighting a little better
In Assetto Corsa the HP Reverb has more detail on the hood of the car. Is that just because of a different time of day in the game?

But look at the sky and blending of shades. Index wins.
@@cronus33 The Reverb is still set little bit too Bright Hp said. They still Work to give the Best Color Picture when they Ship it. So its gonna get even better.
Pretty sure that it was just a cloudy day in the game, but definitely more detail
@@sundaynightdrunk We need to start seeing foveated rendering
Thank you!

The king of TTL videos :) Just one observation, can you try and set weather conditions in game the same when it applies? For example, the in game conditions themselves are very different in Assetto Corsa, and even in ED the lighting is very different obviously due to planet position. These are available in all markets globally and it would be interesting to see the comparison between these. Awesome vids by the way and looking forward to more content.
how much of a performance hit do you encounter with the G2 vs the Index? Lovely video as always
They're both rendered at a similar resolution in SteamVR (Index is rendered at 1.4x native due to lens distortion whereas Reverb isn't), so performance will be relatively similar. I think the Reverb will have a render resolution that is effectively 5.5% higher.
@@GhlyMasta could you explain the index bit? why are they rendering like that?
I'm just praying my 1080ti can handle the resolution !
Wireless index would make it King of all headsets
Any chance of doing a through the lens video for the quest 2? Thanks
Thank you very much for this video and especially the little comparsion to the older Headsets like the Rift CV1 and Vive! @@Simlife101 Because Index and Rift S are mostly on par? I dont get the question, the G2 is way clearer than both. I currently also have the Rift S.
@@janred94 lol i can tell you as someone who has 2 rift s HMDs in the house and one index the Rift S is far from on par with the Rift S in clarity.
@@janred94 also remember these through the lens videos were done using the old lenses as HP have said they are changing the lenses and i quote "for far better ones" lol you only change a major component this pate if there was an issue
So now we have no idea on sweet spot and glare as the new lenses may suffer poorly on both and this is why we watch these sort of videos so for HP to change the lenses after only sending out a handful of review models has me questioning why.
Why only send less than 10 units out for review and then change the lenses that were in those models. I believe it to be less sent out less problems spotted.
After all the trouble with the G1 i will hold judgement until it comes out but for me going down in F9V is a no no as i am a sim racer and the sense of speed you get from a large FOV is way more important than clarity as the index is clear anyway and at 150% Ss looks great and Automobilista 2 is just a next gen for VR imo. at 2:52 what are those dark blotches on black areas. didnt see that in mrtvs vids. looks like a really intense mura effect which is weird cause there mura is barely noticeable anywhere else. looks like its an issue with blending dark gray into black? and at 3:54 its not there at all. seems like its only there on still shots but not in motion. maybe its video compression artifacts. if you look at 6:23 - 6:25 (in full screen at 4k) youll see the frame change and the blotches become more apparent. thats on the rift s, so they are less obvious bc of the washed out colors and low resolution. but on the g2 its having to choose black or grey for so many small sets of pixels, to blend that gradient accurately would try to allocate a much higher bitrate (assuming its VBR), take much longer to render and create a much larger file size. so depending on the settings and behavior of the encoder, i think its hit its ceiling for how evenly it can blend the gradient at the max allowed bitrate. i dont deal with such high res footage so im not sure. but its definitely some kind of video artifact exaggerating the tiny mura pattern, which based on other through the lens shots, would be almost unnoticeable during use.
i think it's just the camera noise (iso) that's probably why it can be in one shot and not in another one
@@jolf542734yeah looked that up and it makes more sense based on the intensity and distribution of the blotches.

Hey man would you say the G2 is a worthwhile upgrade for someone who already owns a rift S?
Hey Tyriel, great review as usual dude! I'd like to suggest being a bit more cognizant of the order even though you show the titles of the headsets. The production quality would just seem much better if the order of the headsets stayed the same and didn't switch around!
Consistent you mean, but yes, I agree!
It’s really confusing and frustrating when you keep changing the order of the headsets that you’re comparing!
These kind of videos are the reason I'm on your channel.
This is your stronger side.
I agree. Almost like the video poster is trying to make the G2 stand out on purpose. Kinda defeats the whole point of the video. Direct comparison.
You make the best and most informative through the lens comparisons. Thank you!

Well done , love your video. Please do fast moving simulator like racing with FPS shown with minimum HP requirements would be prefect. So we know the real deal with this headset
Wai In Leong none of them will. habe you ever wondered why no one ever shows that. NDA
Brummie Deano we will find out soon how “honest” all these RUclipser are soon. Sure they will test it themselves obviously but ignoring this issue will consider as hiding the fact “ if “ the FPS are actually bad. Now is early to say but we will find out soon why they never shown it. Could be everything great so they never shown “ i hope” . Let’s wait and see ...
What f-stop are you using on your camera? I’m just curious about the camera and settings. That will give me a lot of insight on what it will look like in person.
Great comparison. One of the best and most objective comparisons I've ever seen
Excellent comparisons. The moving video one was good too! It helps show how the anti aliasing is resolved with each headset. Something you don't get in still photos.
Through the lens videos are certainly the best way for the viewer to see differences between headsets...
BUT!!! ---->
1) Be VERY careful that they are in focus!!
Looks like I may have just found my next VR headset. Can't wait to see your review of G2 and sim racing. Great video here. As always.
You should keep the same order for the examples. If you start with riftS-Index-G2, stick with it. No big deal but it makes more sense and you get a progressive representation of quality too.
i really enjoyed the backround music. great choice. thanks always for your work
I ordered my G2 on 6/2 and am patiently waiting.
Best through the lenses video with G2 so far, good job.
The text tests really made the G2 shine out of all of these...great video :)
The difference is stark. I can't wait till September
At 9:40 the comparison to the HTC Vive is jaw dropping. I have pre-ordered the G2. Going from my current Original Vive to G2 must be like a person having poor eye sight wearing a proper prescription glasses for the first time. Can't wait!
awesome.....the resolution and clarity in text in all demos are stunning
11:16 Why did you change the game quality settings in this for the HP Reverb? There's no reflections on the car in either rift or index's picture? Are we REALLY doing a 1:1 comparison or are we skewing the results? Maybe we need to look at it more objectively.
Could you please do a comparison with the Samsung Odyssey+ so we can see the differences in colors/contrast with an OLED display ?
The only way you can compare black levels on a video is get 2 identical images of a game in photoshop, look through odyssey and edit one of the images to how it looks in the headset and then do the same with g2 and upload the 2 images side by side. I did it with the cv1 and rift s when it first came out.
Thanks for another awesome video. Yes please I'd love to see a more detailed comparison between the G2 and CV1. I love my CV1 and upgrading to the G2 without having used any other headsets besides PSVR will surely blow my mind!
