You said it. I know what I sound like but we made things like that with old cardboard boxes? They were poor? Don't think so! And we had imagination! Piece of crap.
I lived on a cul-de-sac that went downhill, so we would get in the car and the other kids would push us and we'd go flying down the hill and crash into the curb at the bottom.
In our neighborhood we kept doing this even after we couldn't fit inside the things - riding on the top is almost even more exciting (and dangerous, since it's very top heavy).
We did something similar to that back as kids my friends and I, we would all try to ride the car at the same time going down hills. So three of us would be inside, a person hanging on each side of the car, and someone on top of the roof. So one afternoon, we decided to go down this steep hill not realizing there was a drop at the end. So we all got on it and picked up speed from all the weight, and started to lean forward from the rough hill. So when we realized there was a drop, it was too late, we flew off with all of us getting hurt.
Some friends and I did a much more dangerous version of this - with a traffic barrel. It showed up in a neighbor's backyard, and when he called the DOT, they had no interest in retrieving it. It was, however, perfectly sized for a small-to-average size middle schooler to fit inside of. You'd just brace yourself and let your friends chuck you down a grassy hill. Good times, though, looking back, it's a miracle none of us broke our spines. xD
I had one in the 80s it definitely didn't have eyes. I think the eyes showed up in the 2000s, if you look at toddler toys now everything has eyes. Imagine a room full of staring toys. Just always staring.
I was nearly 5 feet tall and a hundred pounds when I was 5 years old. I might have had fun with mine before I was old enough to develop memories, but man, I just remember being pissed that every time I would try and yabba dabba the thing with my feet, my knees would hit the wheel and dash. Then, I took it up a hill because I saw my short friends do it and it looked fun. I tried it, couldn't get my legs up high enough, my feet dug in and I rolled the thing over forward and would have been thrown clear if not for my massive girth. I guess what I'm saying is, I would have mailed you mine. Sorry I didn't know. Cheddar, Plz add trigger warning for big children.

These came out JUST after I had outgrown that kind of toy. But, I work in child care, and there are a few of these on the playground. They are a favorite!
There was a dump down the road from my place as a kid. Two bins on the side of the road. Someone threw off two of these and me being the smart crafty hands on kid I was took them home, took two and made one (took wheels off the bad one and put on the good one). Then my brother and I "drove" the thing till it literally fell apart. When we took it back to the dump it had no roof (we took it off cause we got too tall for it LOL), no door, no wheels and the "steering wheel" was locked up and well worn. We didn't want to but we had no parts and no choice. Plus we had outgrown it. Great memories of our little junker. I am just glad we got to give it a second chance to please a kid.
I feel that in my bones. My personal favorite is when you saved up birthday and Christmas money from other people to get something you really wanted only to have your parent 'borrow' all your money, and you never see a dime back, because "hay I feed you and keep a roof over your head so I don't owe you shit".
This is probably the best marketing ever.. Ive never heard or seen one of this before ever in my life, but now Im totally thinking of buying this for my future kids
I remember my Nana had a pickup truck version of this and I think the original too. The cool thing about the pickup version was that it was big enough for a 7 year old to drive and it had a trunk that worked like an extra seat and what me and my cousins would do is we would have one of us operate the pick up,while one of us sat in trunk and held onto the plastic car while the person in the plastic car enjoyed the ride. Also what we did since it was during the summer time the adults left out 2 coolers full of juice and soda and me and my cousins turned it into a drive through
I didn't have one but when we went to the supermarket there would always be these cars there and you could borrow one like a shopping cart for you kid to have fun in while you walked around collecting produce. I remember my parents never borrowed them except this one time when, I don't remember why, our parents got 1 for me and my brother and we were overjoyed even though we had to share.
My older sister's had one of these before I was born, you can see it in a picture we have. I have the memory of it being stuffed in the basement in our old house, can't remember what happened to it.
But it sells really well in the UK as well. They litterally said that in the video

I actually had a purple version of that when I was younger.
Ewwww.
Cindy Helms I my dad worked at little tikes when I was growing up so my family got them for free, I remember him giving my cousins a purple one
Ive never had a toy that was worth More than 5 Dollars
I feel that in my bones. My personal favorite is when you saved up birthday and Christmas money from other people to get something you really wanted only to have your parent 'borrow' all your money, and you never see a dime back, because "hay I feed you and keep a roof over your head so I don't owe you shit".
It’s been years now and it’s still sitting behind the shed covered in dirt and overgrown weeds
"VW Beetle"
This is probably the best marketing ever.. Ive never heard or seen one of this before ever in my life, but now Im totally thinking of buying this for my future kids
I only had sticks and stones.
Also what we did since it was during the summer time the adults left out 2 coolers full of juice and soda and me and my cousins turned it into a drive through
Why does he sound like a young Gilbert Gottfried.
You mean in United States? I've never seen this toy in my country.
Exactly, that was my immediate objection when the video started.
My older sister's had one of these before I was born, you can see it in a picture we have. I have the memory of it being stuffed in the basement in our old house, can't remember what happened to it.
Where?
"If you were a kid in the last 40 years, you probably have a Cozy Coupe memory."
You forgot to add "in the USA", though...
But it sells really well in the UK as well. They litterally said that in the video
@@williamsmith6921 What I meant to say is that Americans keep forgetting the world does not spin around them and that videos posted on RUclips are viewed globally.
I never owned one, but they had a car combined with a cart at stores and I always used to ride in them and when my mom pushed the cart the car was attached to the front and would also go forward
Is that the American Bobby Car?
My thoughts exactly
This is bringing back memories I didn't think I had.
"all across the globe" .... you mean america
The same thing to americans
No, it was extremely popular in the UK too
I had money, I would commission an adult size version to relive my childhood.
Please...tone it down with that voice
We have one in the back garden now and the kids love it.
I had a 4X4 of this, it was used for me and my other two siblings. Eventually tho it stoped getting used, and was just vibin in the garden for a bit, getting bleached by the sun. After a few years it got donated to a nursery, so a bunch of nursery kids use it now.
We had one of these growing up and I remember that my grandparents had a mini one for the dolls that little tikes released in the 80's
Never had it, but I used to love playing with it back when I was in preschool
We just got one the other day for my niece surprisingly. Well done Cheddar.
In my country even some shopping malls had those. While parents had to push their shopping carts the kids got to ride those cozy coupes ☺️
I wish they would make an adult version
I’ve purchased 3 of these in different colors they’re 10/8/5 years old these things laser along time loved this toy so simple and kids burn their energy.
I had one, and now my children have one. They love it!
I had one, but my cousin had one of those electric two seaters. Needlesstosay I was quite jealous peddling around manually with my feet like the Flintsones.
6:17 those shopping carts right there were my version of the cozy coupe growing up.
I had a yellow pickup toy truck similar to the Cozy Coupe, these cars were awesome
I've actually been to the Crawford Auto Aviation Museum. I don't remember seeing the Cozy Coupe, but if you ever find yourself in Cleveland, it's a more interesting visit than it might seem.
