Thanks again for another great video, I’ve just been through this whole process myself and found it pretty difficult to get information about what speakers are a direct replacement for the Y62. I ended up going with a focal isrni690 kit which includes replacement front speakers and tweeters for the dash and bolts straight in with no adapters or spacers required. The only modification necessary was the connectors on the tweeters which, for some reason didn’t quite fit. In the rear doors to keep the cost down a bit I used a pair of Hertz cx165 with adapters which sound great but are about half the price of the focal equivalent. After this the sound was awesome but what really lifted it to the next level was installing an amp (kicker key 200.4), this improved the sound dramatically with clarity and crispness and now I don’t think it needs a sub. All this ended up costing more than I anticipated (always the way🙄)with the components costing about a grand but the improvement is dramatic and worth the extra coin I reckon. Hope this helps, cheers Bill.

I did look at focal too 🤣🤣 there are so many good options these days for speakers I was amazed. It has been at least 15 years since I’ve looked at after market car audio. there are so many cool things I now want 🤣 I ordered an active sub, I think I’m going to get a 4channel amp for the speakers too

@@HappyGoTravel An amp will make a huge difference, both the kicker and focal amps are small enough to be hidden almost anywhere.

I must say Your videos are a love hate relationship. Love watching them but hate knowing that it's gonna cost me money!! Another mod added to the list.. I have to do this now! 😂
I recon I'm gonna go the focal gear.
Thanks for the breakdown. Made me realise how easy it actually is. Been 10 years since I've done one!

Hahhahaha I feel your pain 🤣. Focal actually have a plug and play 4 channel amp that grafts into the factory system. I think that’s what I’m going to do next.
I just put a different sub in today it thumps so much harder than the active sub I did last week. So don’t watch the next video I’m about to release 🤣🤣

Thanks for the vid. I recently upgraded the speakers in my MY22 Ti. I used Polk marine rated speakers, MM692 for front and MM652 for rear. I used the original speakers as stand-offs! Just cut out the speaker cone away with a blade and then used an oscillating multi-tool to cut the plastic speaker supports and away it came. Then using same tool trimmed the thin “lip” of plastic on the front to make it flat. New speaker just screws into this plastic face, solder some wire from the speaker to the original socket that remains and re-install. Looks factory as existing plugs are used. The speaker is quite a solid structure that looks to be fibre reinforced so should last and used Marine rated so no rot (which I’ve had on past vehicles).

Alpine make tweeters to go with the s line speakers. I can remember buying them all as a set years and years ago when I was a punk p-plater.

Great video. As a TiL owner I can assure you that the sound system is very ordinary. Gonna need to add another amp or something at some stage.
Also for anyone removing door trim be VERY careful when removing the rubber door stoppers that press on the B pillar switch to tell the car that doors are shut. They are flimsy and will tear if not removed correctly. Just had the trim off myself today. Had to repair both front door stoppers (drill hole thru them and put a screw in) as the dudes who did my wood grain wrap just hacked at them and they were both 90% ripped

Thanks mate, I’m keen to actually see the difference in speaker quality between the two models. Those rubber stoppers would be easy to break

@@HappyGoTravel those big magnets love to be fed some power! Haha the hardest thing will always be getting a strong, clean signal from the factory radio using a hi/low level input.
You can spend big dollars on converters with equalisers etc on them, in reality.. it’s just the best of a bad situation.
With no standard RCA output, or control behind them it makes it quite hard and becomes a bit of a rabbit hole. I would personally just do the sub and amp and take the bottom end (bass) away from the hi/mid of the door speakers, I’m sure one day soon a company like alpine will bring out a quality new head unit that will fix all our woes, great source to then build up a big system with amps etc
You’re definitely on the right track with the steps you’re taking!, hard finding a nice spot to put a sub in these things haha

@@talk.steer.5536 yeah I agree, it’s definitely a best of the worst situation. I knew as soon as I started modifying it I’d want more 🤣 I didn’t want to put the sub under the false floor but there isn’t many options

      @@HappyGoTravel great equipment!
Only going to be as good as the signal you’re feeding it however… and that’s not great 😅
You will make more noise, but quality will lack.
You can look at some Audio control (Brand) level converters, they’re the best in the business, but once again.. best of a bad situation, not to mention you’ll struggle to find someone these days to (properly) set it up.
You’ll start with one under-seat sub and want more, trust me! Haha

    • @HappyGoTravel

In the front just aeropro 1” carpeted. You will definitely need them to clear the windows. You could get away without them on the rears but those adapters made it an easy job. All the parts are listed in the discretion if you want specific part numbers. I believe there are plastic bolt in ones available for the front also they are just more expensive
