I was ten and my sister nine at the time this song came out. We used to hear it on AM radio and sing it together. Singing and smiling, she knew all the words ... Happy music, happy times: ❤
Mr. & Mrs. Bob Jones, Sr. had a '66 Chevy Van: small V8, '3 on the tree' shift stick! They either sold or junked it, I can't remember; it's been 39 yrs this Spring!!
I had the same but a '68. I met a beautiful blonde babe going through Taft California. What the song tells I did. A wonderful memory I will never forget.
STILL love this song-- November 2024 ! Funny it's on the Shop Rite "play list" so I hear it playing once in awhile when I'm grocery shopping. Still own my custom 78 Chevy Van too.....And still "vanning....." Great times
Sammy Johns is reminding me of a Friday evening, 8-4-78; we were on the highway from Bartow, FL when the transmission gave out: "We all bopped in the 'Chevy Van' and that's alright with me..." I thought? Uncle Joe took us back to Grandma's home: come Saturday morning, we eventually left!!
No. Chevy vans were being coverted before 1973. 1970 was the start of luxury conversion vans, my dad had brand new Chevy he converted himself. He was a carpet layer so yea carpeted walls, everything. Lol It was a gorgeous red one with side pipes, Crager wheels and had flaming red paint. I was about 9 back in those days living out in the country on a homestead. And today, Yep I'm living on a homestead on a mountain at age 58. Its the only way to have REAL Freedom these days. No tvs and limited internet. Amen!
I remember being 8 years old, sharing a room with my older brothers Tim and Eric and us drifting off to sleep every night with our Technics Stereo that Santa left us the previous Christmas tuned to our favorite stations -- WABC ''77'' in New York with the legendary Dan Ingram.... "The Famous 56" Philadelphia's powerhouse WFIL... and our hometown favorite, "The Big X", WEEX 1230 AM in Easton PA.
Decked out vans were a thing when oz a kid i remember the Denim Van in a hot rod magazine back then lol i couldn't put that magazine down that was the koolest van ever - Do any 50 something dudes remember that van ? 😊
A Magaxine that was out in those days Van World helped me survive those years and helped me stay hopeful until I reached Adulthood whatever that is or supposed to be LOL
I still love this song, and it’s February 2023.
