    I Forgot to add, it has
    fuel and oil pressure input- safety,
    supports flex fuel input,
    Bluetooth connectivity,
    And since august, supports boost by gear/speed input

    In fact, the original Speeduino is an amateur project, without any protection against electromagnetic interference and in the VR conditioner, precisely where it is most needed for the vehicle to function properly. These PCBs do not have grounding planes (there should be at least 3), do not have adequate filtering on the 12V line (Pi filters with inductors and capacitors). The VR conditioner used is very sensitive to electromagnetic noise (EMI and RFI), normally generated by the switching of coils, injectors, actuators, relays and electric fans in any vehicle. To make matters worse, the VR conditioner is mounted on a separate PCB, making it even more sensitive to EMI and RFI, which does not occur with professional ECU designs. I have been dealing with these problems for more than 2 years on a Speeduino V.04.3b and the best solution is to use a professional PCB design, with Pi filters, several grounding planes and a properly grounded metal case, as on the Speeduino DropBear. Only then will your problems end. Alternatively, I recommend using Hall sensors and shielded cables in the rotation and phase signal, eliminating the VR conditioner, soldering the configuration jumpers directly to the PCB and installing the PCB in a properly grounded metal box (Faraday cage immune to EMI and RFI) . It is also essential that the harness is well constructed, with wires of a diameter compatible with the signals, braid the sensor wires and ground them directly on the negative pole of the battery, and use high quality spark plugs and suppressive cables. Even doing all this and adding a large filter capacitor to the cooling electric fan, I still have problems with the rotation signal failing while the vehicle is driving and the engine turning off at idle when the electric fan is activated with V.04.3b. I plan to switch soon to a DropBear or a Professional Programmable ECU.

      Interesting write up. So where are you having grievances? It sounds like your only problem is vr crank sensor. Both cars that i have running on speeduino use hall effect sensors, and i have never had issues with rpm signal. But valid points. Worth considering if you have vr crank sensor engine.

    Nice video and informative. Keep it up.
    Few issues though.
    What is the price difference between the ecus you mentioned?
    Don't see it being fair as a straight comparison but more as a alternative upgrade path with more features and tunability.
    The dicktator Std was never a full house/featured system but filled a void for a basic ecu to get guys running on a budget.
    For what it is, it is still a impressive cheap ecu even though its probably a 20 year old design.
    For more features there are lots of newer ecu options available with the features you mentioned.
    Speeduino interests me but without local support its a hard switch.
    For a lot of guys the Dicktator has been a very simple system to fit and work with and guys going to higher end or full featured ecus get stumped at the steeper learning curve. I joke with customers.
    " If you clever, you more likely to have problems fitting it. If you stupid, you more likely to get it running." Biggest issue we find is incorrect fitment and basics when starting a car with Dicktator.
    The speeduino comes across similar in approach to the megasquirt ecus from the early 2000s.
    A Great way to learn but has never been really cost effective for us in ZA.

    • @061garage
      @061garage  2 года назад

      Thanks.
      Its pretty much an very accessible megaspuirt that uses and arduino as a processor.
      Biggest reason for using it is :
      boost cut and boost control,
      flatfoot shifting and launch control.
      I had my ecu built in ZA. Circuit with map sensor on it. About 2000k Without wiring. You could pin it into stock ecu plug and you wount need a loom. I made a new loom from scrap yard wiring since i had nothing. I 3d printed a case R200.
      The following can be done for any car:
      Stock crank sensor.
      Stock cam sensor
      Vw boost controller.
      Vw speed sensor.
      Flex fuel
      So the flexibility on setups and features its pretty much competing with high end ecus like haltech and ecu master,
      biggest difference is there is no plug in dash for speeduino but will display all parameter on bluetooth cellphone.
      As basic price comparison to get to a dictator level of functionality is about R3000. But then you can obviously make a world worth of upgrade to wire to the ecu which makes it more pricey eg flex fuel, boost controller.
      The internet as much more resources for speeduino than dictator, which left with no real desire for local support.

    Hi... Brujie. I don't think you know the management system to give a review or a comparison. Besides I honestly don't think you know your engine because then instead of std dicktator you will use 60-2. Please do proper research on the management. Besides the speeduino is Chinese management. How many people in SA actually does it? I do management installations and tuning I think you need to ask people the right questions.

    • @061garage
      @061garage  2 года назад +7

      Hi, bratjie. I don't claim to know everything, learning everyday. No worries you seems to be just as confused, calling out Chinese without doing research. But your comment could be useful to some.
      My speeduino can run 60-2, distributor, 30-2 and any other trigger setup without having to buy another ecu, as you would have to with diktator.
      Don't misinterpret my nerves as being misinformed.
      I look up to your channel, found it helpful. I don't want to lose respect for you.
      As far as south africa, this is not a local ecu, it's global, with global support and forums, Facebook groups. Frequent advancements eg boost by gear, Since August last year.(same hardware) And all for the price of diktator or less. You might have to look into speeduino again buddy.

    • @junaidjunu1879
      @junaidjunu1879 2 года назад

      As you can see his using a distributor setup so a Dicktator standard is suffice however even if he does 60-2 he will still sit with the same crappy batch fueling and still have less features and functionality than the Speeduino. Dictktator is old and outdated yes it does the job it suppose to but that's about it.

      I have seen your videos Buddy Rocks you do great work!!! 061 GARAGE nice move on switching to Speeduino I am building my first project and I am going to use Speeduino for the features you mentioned but especially because its open-source which gives you virtually unlimited creativity as to how you going to integrate other car systems with the ecu - like the Bluetooth thing you did thats serious customization you can't easily get with proprietary ECUs

    • @julesofsouthafrica9994
      @julesofsouthafrica9994 2 месяца назад

      I saw your diktator video and you were nervous af. The beauty about Speeduino if you didn't already know, it's Open Source which in essence means it's run by the people for the people. A great example of this is the Linux operating system which is now used on the Space Station because it's more reliable than Windows. I was going to use Diktator until I found out about Speeduino.
