Most swimming pools are indoors and heated in the UK due to our colder, rainier weather. They are normally part of a leisure centre so there is a gym attached, other sports classes like tennis, badminton or martial arts or yoga/pilates are held there and sometimes there is a soft play area for young kids. There are some outdoor pools or lidos in the UK and wild swimming is quite popular even in winter.
Thanks for the insights! They sound like great place, I can think of one place in my town like that and it's a little costly for a day pass.. probably because there is only the one in the area!
It's so satisfying to see other people discover this incredible show! To mix it up you can add in some Rhod Gilbert stories. I would suggest starting with Did Rhod Gilbert pay for a meal with a Nissan Micra?
Thanks BB, great to hear you are enjoying the videos! We certainly can.. on your suggestion we just recorded the Nissan Micra story today, hilarious! I'll have it edited and uploaded in the coming days :)
So... you're saying you want more David O'Doherty?? Hahaha I joke... You bet we will do some more Claudia Winkleman :D She was great! We just filmed her Totoise story and will continue her compilation so expaect many more Claudia videos Mads :)
Thanks Caroline! We just filmed to tortoise video, it will be edited in the coming days, and will keep chipping away at her compilation, hopefully the animal association story is in there, otherwise I'll add it to the list :D
@@filmslate Yeah pretty much all public outdoor pools in the UK are called lidos and are 1920s unheated concrete holes in the ground - there was a period where they were just left to disrepair and as places for skating/smoking/cracked skulls.... but over recent years some have been refurbed and fashionable and are a fun ol' thing (in the summer only natch coz otherwise they'd be full of ice and/or fallen leaves/frog spawn)
@@firstsurname7099 Thanks for the insights First! I've never heard the term "Lido" before.. great to hear they have been refurbished and up and running once again!
We call them leisure centres. They often have other sports facilities, but i've only ever gone there for a family swim as a kid in the heated indoor pool (in the 80's and 90's), but usually in Summer, never December.
I see James's parents as being fairly reasonable here. Think about it. If you are in their shoes and both kids want the same gift even though it's a shareable gift you wouldn't want to spend twice the money just to discourage them from sharing. An album can be listened to by both kids so why on earth would any parent buy two copies of the same album? I imagine it was less of them buying Ruth the album and not James and more that James wanted his own personal copy that he didn't have to share.
Indoor pools everywhere in uk alot are local council owned and so are really cheap maybe £1 or £2 for a session, my town has around 150k people can think of at least 10 indoor public pools and many more private or attached to gyms

Yes, correct there are a few places, like near where I live on the Isle of wight, that have indoor/outdoor pools with retractable roofs. 😊
@@lynnhamps7052 I think there are about 100 lidos in the UK mainland.

And most swimming pools have free or very cheap entry for local kids (or sometimes even adults too)

Love the reaction again guys. In the UK, nearly all swimming pools are indoor pools because the weather is unreliable...
