Ashitos arc with his mother especially got to me. I have seen all of these different sides of my mother as well. But I always know that she tries her best to provide her children with happiness even when she knows she can't be with us forever. That letter she made for Aoi was a particular emotional beat that worked so very well.
This is the best, so far, Football anime had to offer. I know it does not reach the heights of Slam Dunk, I read it before watching the show, but this hits home tbh. This is simply a glimpse of what Football players go through following the academy system in Europe. As a football player since Elementary, I just had to relate to this anime so hard that ep 6 (maybe or 5 idk) made me bawl tears out. And the episode where he was told that instead of being a Striker, he becomes as a fullback was something that hit home for me since I also experienced this change that I had a crisis during my HS years. I hope the story continues to become better and I do hope to read the manga soon.
nah, def not. blue lock was really great. was a big fan since a year ago. when i read aoashi months ago, i was just blown away. the tactics, explanations, and overall knowledge and information it offers about football/soccer is impeccable: something that wasn't present in blue lock. this manga shows just how much of a team-oriented sport football really is. imo, blue lock hit a stale era with isagi not even improving by much, but it's stepping up again now. dont get me wrong, still a big fan of blue lock, just a bigger fan of aoashi
After binging Haikyuu about a year ago, no anime has really gotten me that same feeling it offered until i decided to watch Ao Ashi. I see so much potential even though I dont even watch much soccer.
I can definitely recommend Hajime no Ippo if youre looking for an anime where the character starts from the ground up. It may be a bit old, but it is an absolute masterclass among sports anime.
Ao Ashi is such a great story. I completed the manga in just 1 night because it was so good. Definitely one of my favourite mangas. Very easy to read as well. Great video :)
I almost cried in 25 episodes bro. the character development and emotional aspect of Ao Ashi IS AMAZING. I can't wait a year for this damn second season
Ok, you did it again. A lot of youtubers said that this is a good show, finally new chapter of sports anime after Haikyuu, but it's your video, your thoughts that sold it to me. Just like months and videos ago I started reading the manga of Haikyuu because of you. I will watch Ao Ashi and come back to this video to say thank you, because I'm sure I will like it.
Just wanted to tell you I'm enjoying all the content you put out, Ik trying to break away from just doing Haikyuu content isn't going to be easy (mentally and numberswise) but I do think that your narration and storytelling are really fun to listen to, along with you clip selection. Rooting for your sucess!
I love this anime I called this anime trash without watching it now that I did way better than blue lock pls don't get mad at me, this anime connected to me like no other...
ijust want to thank you for this video, the moment you spoke about the scene in the episode 5 when ashito read his mom's letter, this moment really touched me in a way i can't even describe. Everything about this anime is beautiful, the journey of ashito... a masterpiece.
I hope we get the new season 2, i was so entretaining with the show, and when togashi was introduced, i decided to read the manga while also watching the anime
Ao Ashi is my favorite sports manga It just describes sports in a super realistic way and shows the mc Aoi actually struggling to do anything for about a good 40 chapters every arc he stuggles through challenges but he gets through it with pure courage
This Anime is already a SOLID 9/10. Constant football education. and the Episode with his mum's letter had me in tears I even sent it to my mum. Ashito's story relates to mine so much and that's why this anime is so good for me.
Haven't watched many sports anime (because I know nothing will be better than Haikyuu 😉), but this looks really captivating. Ashito looks like a character that I'll love immediately based on how genuine he sounds from the way you described him. The anime looks surprisingly amazing too when it comes to the visual quality. Definitely gonna give it a watch! Great video Harsh!!
You should definitely watch more sports anime if you enjoyed Haikyuu. Haikyuu is great but that doesn't mean that all other sports anime aren't worth watching.
Thank you so much for covering this series. I feel it deserves far more attention than it got while it was airing, and you covered the emotions it brings beautifully. The scene with Hana and Ashito in episode 14 particularly gets to me; that's some powerful shit.
This made me tear up, remembering all those beautiful scenes. I have read the entire manga (up until the latest releases because no translation yet) in like 3 days because it was such a powerful journey that kept me reading.
i was very skeptical about watching this anime as it was about football and i was wondering wat can they do smtgh different to bring the same passion about the game we fans have in a 23 min anime. And man i must say every match they play and the build up upto the match keeps me in the edge of my seat. i am glad that i watched this show and would love to see more of it. Its time that Ao ashi gets the recognition it should deserve. You have done a wonderful job highlighting this anime
I am so glad you did a video about this. This anime is very good and love it when you do content on sports animes. It's always music to my ears in a sense Keep up the great work. I'll always be supporting 🥰
Not just anime, the manga give more information in football. Not just strategies but the machanisme about football management in japan and Europe. We will know what player feeling as player and human.
I’ve not watched this anime yet so I watched this video till 7:10 You know what makes your videos different? It’s that you compare your daily experiences to the character’s experience and that makes the content for us viewers more relatable! Even if someone has not watched the anime, it feels as if you are experiencing it first hand! Thankyou for that!❤
As somebody who has been playing football my whole life , I'm loving it. A lot of stuff that they talk about when it comes to football is actually true but a lot more simplified. It can get a bit cringy because of all the football stuff but I actually enjoy it very much because it's not only focused on football but it actually has emotional characters and story lines. Can't wait for season 2.
I want to see more sports animes being covered by you namely Kuruko no basket, slam dunk, hajime no ippo. Especially kuroko since it has such a variety of players with different ideals and aspirations
This anime was so good, it actually got me emotional because of how close it resembles my past and seeing that you can break through obstacles and struggles in life made it that much more emotionally satisfying.
i love ao ashi but the slow start is what I think many people will get away from because of it, I finally started getting into it in when the first actual b team match happened.
Absolutely the same. I watched it during a life crisis when I had to decide something to get my life back to the track. It was a tough decision full of risks but I took it. The letter that his mother wrote to him made cry so hard. An amazing anime
I am genuinely impressed by your ability to tell stories. You were able to convey the feelings I had while watching Ao Ashi in such an effortless manner. I am sure that you put a great amount of effort behind this video and i am happy to have been able to come across your channel!

Hey Harsh, thank you for making this vid. I've been reading the manga since last year and while comparisons with Haikyuu will happen, Ao Ashi needs time to flesh out the rest of the cast to be in the conversation.
Yessir. Finally, an Ao Ashi appreciation video. Been waiting for one I was even thinking of making it myself. With the new Blue Lock anime streaming, Ao Ashi is bound to get more fans as well. And, yes, Ao Ashi > Blue Lock. I'm a big fan of blue lock, just a bigger fan of aoashi.
Ao Ashi is my fav piece of fiction i have ever consumed irrespective of the medium. I have never connected to a story more than this. I never thought their would be something that would beat One Piece but Ao Ashi did and i am not a huge manga fan but Ao Ashi is the story that got me into manga. I love Ao Ashi and will continue to love it. Hope it comes out in English so that i can collect it.
This is why I liked Ao Ashi way more than Blue Lock i thought I would like Blue Lock more but Episode 5 of Ao Ashi hit me like a train never i never recovered from it. I cried multiple times reading and watching Ao Ashi hell your video made me tear up a little Ao Ashi is that good man.
Let's not forget the other players really putting into perspective that it's not about 1 player, each player plays a position that's important and what that player brings to their position isn't overlooked either.
As a former competitive athlete I resignate to sports series so much, i to angels to go pro but you got to wake up to reality, form being inured and parents not affording it, best I can do is grow my business be a lawyer to help ppl out inshalalh
this is a great video and i agree with your thoughts. some of aoashi gave me the same feeling i got watching the hardships of the main character in ace of diamond
I love Ao Ashi and its characters. They're written as humanly as possible, which reminds me of my favorite sports anime, Slam Dunk. While the anime adaptation could have been better (according to some manga readers' standards), I was okay with it. It isn't even bad, it's just that readers often become demanding when it comes to their beloved works. I know, 'cause I've been like that in the past. Lol. Anyway, I like the slow yet well-paced developments this series offers.
We are living a goat tier era of sports anime/manga. Giant Killing Ao Ashi Days Be Blues Diamond no Ace Hajime no Ippo(Forever in all eras) Blue Lock Yowamushi no Pedal Slam Dunk movie

If you like Ao Ashi you'll deffo enjoy Diamond no Ace, it's another sports anime that gives a realistic take on youth sport with many ups and downs and gets its viewers emotionally invested
Great vid as always! I recommend the manga. For me, I liked the manga way better than the anime, idk why but I just think the manga makes everything so much better. The art also makes most scenes better, in the anime the same scenes can look cringe IMO. What I love about Ao Ashi is that, unlike other sportanimes and mangas, the mc always strives to become better. In some animanga they don’t show the hard work u need to put in to be good at a sport. That’s why I love Aoi, he loves the game and just continues practicing and reflecting so thst he can become better, a very relatable and inspiring character.
Also, Ashito not understanding football is also relatable. Rn I’m playing handball, started playing with the older ones, and I feel like I don’t understand shit and that I’m so much worse than the others. I’m mad that I didn’t start playing at an earlier age just so that I could understand the game better and be able to make better and quicker decisions. I love when animanga bring out side of sports that many people can relate to.
