    I met George once at a local casino I worked at, I told him he was my favorite comedian, he stood up, hugged me, and said "get better fucking standards" was the best moment of my life next to my wedding 🤣

    • @genostellar
      @genostellar Год назад +3

      I like how "now" consists of more than 2 decades. You remind me of this one radio station that does the same thing. Mentions the 80s, 90s and today, as if the noughties and the 10s are still a part of the present.

    • @shaybradad6150
      @shaybradad6150 Год назад +8

      @@genostellar Unlike those radio stations, I don't consider "now" to include the past two decades. My comment was specifically linking his commentary of the 80s and 90s to our current world. I do, however, realize that many of these issues did exist (and often worsened) during the 2000s and 2010s.

      @@genostellar You do make a valid point, despite being a bit rude. I do think the 2010's are still recent enough and have enough in common with the 2020's to be considered the present, although that will probably only be true for a few more years. But 2000-2009 is definitely 'the past' now. It shares more in common with the 80's and 90's than it does with the past 13 years, mainly because the smartphone and social media didn't exist for most of it.

    So years ago Rick Moranis did a parody bit on Carlin and called him out for lazy jokes among others. Instead of getting offended and sitting there pitying himself Carlin came back with avengeance and proved who he was. Took that motivation and came out back on top again. That's how you come back and that's the energy you're seeing here. No one beat Carlin when he was on.

    1-hour photo finishing:
    Back in the day (hey, I'm old.
    I can use old, worn-out phrases), film was kept in a roll of anywhere from 12 to 36 pictures. It might take up to a year to take all of the photos, as no one would pull the film early and leave some exposures unused. Hence, quick finishing was popular, since a person might not remember what the first few pictures were.

They weren't popular yet when George passed in 2008. Had the first iPhone a year earlier, and the first Galaxy a year later. They were mainly flip phones with crappy internet up until then.

    Obviously, 95% of everything coming out of his mouth would get you canceled now. And I'm sure some people may be genuinely offended. But if you're a Carlin fan it's fun to imagine how scandalous his response to being canceled would be. He would likely deliberately escalate the outrage aimed at him, and then critically analyze & expose how some of the loudest voices crying foul are actually insincere and making noise just to hear their own voice.

    Before 1-hr photo finishing, or at least in small towns where we didn't have such places, you put your film in an envelope and MAILED it off. A month or so later your pictures came back and you could see how many were out of focus, had heads cut off or people cut out of the picture, or you just had your finger in the way of the lens when you snapped the pic. Too late now. So you usually took at least two pictures of everything, hoping that one of them would turn out decent.

    I think back in the day the excitement to have the photos that quickly was because you wanted to share them when people asked you about an event or vacation you just had. It was a lot more fun and dramatic to have the photos to prove how cool or beautiful it was while you were explaining it to them. You'd have to wait for the next time you saw them to pull out your vaca photo album. lol. I always used to scoff at how older generations will say, "things were better back in the day, simpler." But honestly, when it comes to things like that, I agree. I do like having the photos to show right away, but considering everything else that comes with it now, I would be willing to go back and deal with the wait. There's a lot of amazing and great things that come from our advanced tech now, but I really wonder if we're better off without it still. I know George would have a lot to say about this world. And I'm sure that he would still shock us with some deep truths that we weren't expecting. It's sad and ironic that a comedian is the one person I look to for truth instead of politicians and religious leaders- the people who swore to serve us and work in our best interest.
    Love the George reactions! Keep them coming!

    Gawd! Imagine the material he would be putting out if he were still alive today! Btw @BrittReacts, 35mm film was the standard film in the 90's, which is when he did this routine. George died in 2009 from pancreatic cancer

    Lol, I remember the salad bar at Wendy's also. Don't know why they got rid of it. I loved it! I would get that like 90 percent of the time I went there. And of course, it was all you can eat!

    Hi, Britt :)
    My friend in Canada hears voices in his head, but they never tell him to do anything dangerous. The worst thing he's ever done is strip naked and run down the hallway of his apartment at full speed. Dave is 6'1" and at the time he weighed 560 pounds... No that's not a mistake.

    Hey, Britt. Love your comedy reactions. Would love to see what you think of "Women, Know Your Limits" by Harry Enfield. It's a very short skit from a TV show from the BBC in the 90s set as a PSA for females in the 1940s to not educate themselves. There's a whole bunch of them, but this one's the best. Cheers from Australia.

    There was no one like George. He had an awesome brain and command of the issues. I always thought the same thing...what would George say about things today if he was alive (he passed in 2008). He obviously would have a war against the Woke and Cancel Cultures and its possible he would have been cancelled.

    As you seem to be soft spoken on this one, perhaps turning up your mic gain a little would help as your voice was quite low on this compared to the Carlin video.
