    The Massachusetts Institute of Technology is an independent, coeducational, privately endowed university in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Our mission is to advance knowledge; to educate students in science, engineering, and technology; and to tackle the most pressing problems facing the world today. We are a community of hands-on problem-solvers in love with fundamental science and eager to make the world a better place.
    The MIT RUclips channel features videos about all types of MIT research, including the robot cheetah, LIGO, gravitational waves, mathematics, and bombardier beetles, as well as videos on origami, time capsules, and other aspects of life and culture on the MIT campus. Our goal is to open the doors of MIT and bring the Institute to the world through video.

      @@GautamYadav-jb7xw because having a machine with the agility and mobility of a cheetah but with the durability and controllability of a robot could be very useful for things like search and rescue, fire fighting, disaster relief (eg searching damaged buildings after earth quakes), and probably much more. However, robots are no replacement for the wonders of mother nature and so we should be protecting things like living cheetahs so that we always have them to appreciate and also to be able to study (from a distance) in order to improve robots like these.

      @@maxk4324 animals train can do that and wonders done by them are no match to cheetah.. Well my saying is that why not conceptulaize greater machines, not just mimicing the natural beings . . What say??

    • @maxk4324
      @maxk4324 5 лет назад +2

      @@GautamYadav-jb7xw So first, a cheetah can't be trained to walk through a burning building unharmed, but a robot can be built to do that, as just one example. Second, evolution has spent millenia creating machines specifically optimized for certain tasks, so why spend all the extra effort trying to reinvent the wheel? Not to say that we don't make modifications to the design as needed, for example by adding reversible legs, but starting from scratch is a lot harder an in many cases unnecessary.
