Every new player should look at the pre flop % chart religious until it’s memorized. So useful it really changed my game for the better. Realizing how bad a hand like A 6 or K 3 really is % wise and like you talked about AA is 4/5 times likely to hit for you. It really helps you understand the value of your card when it comes time to make a hard decision

    Unless its Phil Hellmuth 😂.
My favorite poker moment ever... in the "the big game" show... the Amatuer who won their seat at a $100,000 buy in table goes all-in with Phil and wins.
Of course, he throws a fit cus the table cheered for the amateur and he took it personally. And I forget who it was, but they said "Phil, you have endless trunks of money. He is a school teacher. You have ENDLESS trunks of money... 80 grand is life changing for this guy. Settle down."😂

Unfortunately in Pennsylvania, we have the same crew of players every day on PokerStars. I was at a table a few times where every player had top skill and all we did was constantly stay break-even. PokerStars made money from the rake and it all depended on variance as to who was the most lucky player that got any considerable win. I'm talking the classic online setups - high end of straight over dummy end of straight; set over set; aces over kings, king flush over ace flush, etc. Those are the type of nights that you want to bash your head off a wall because it's so dull.

Altho your right, I mostly agree with your points, I only partially agree with your point #4, about semi auto semi overfolding AA, KK, whether in your example, other situations versus NITS, OMC's, because of your point #3 about OVERVALUING hands.
During the last 17 years I have played, there has been a semi lot of times that I have folded AA, KK, small 2 pair, etc, to a NIT, OMC, only for them to turn over a hand that while NOT A BLUFF, I HAD BEAT.
The reason for this, is that Nathan, your right that they are not bluffing, but even tho they are not bluffing, they are, do, often OVERVALUE their hand.
Take your KK example, the NIT, OMC, could be playing QQ, AJ suited.
I know that AJ isn't a good, great hand, and that some of you would say that, but AJ suited, is still a top 17% to 20% to 23% of hands, hand, and a NIT, OMC, could think that AJ is awesome, and could be waiting for AJ suited or better, and could have hit top pair of J's, A kicker, and think that's AWESOME, and be OVERVALUING that, and NOT BLUFFING, and just betting his top pair, top kicker, and KK could be folding to that.
And it's not something that's a theoretical possibility.
In that kind of, type of KK hand, example, etc, about 23%, 33%, 43% of the time the NIT, OMC, IS beating my KK, with AA, 2 pair, set, trips, etc.
But about 59% to 69% to 79% the NIT, OMC, is not bluffing, but still is OVERVALUING, and still is losing to my KK.
So because of that, just semi auto semi overfolding KK, etc, is NOT semi automatically the right thing to do.
    What is the right way?
The right way is what Nathan outlined in his point 3 about OVERVALUING.
KK, vs the NIT, OMC, should be trying to limit, control the size of pot, via calling or pot control. Don't reraise, don't bet. Just check call. And only call big double pot bets, all ins, etc, IF, IF, IF, you are getting AWESOME POT ODDS PRICE to call, like 4,5,6,7 to 1 awesome, and only IF board is not 4 to a straight, JT98, or 4 card flush, 4 suited's on board, etc. If the board is something like Q 9 7 4 2, no straights, no flushes, and you have KK, NIT, OMC, likely has AQ suited that hit Top pair top kicker, and think they have you, KK beat, and don't know you have KK.
Can't be scared of 2 pair, sets, trips, monsters under the bed, even against the NITS, OMC's.
Yeah sure you will get your QQ, KK, AA, etc, beat about 20% to 30% to 40% of the time.
But the times you win, will make up for that.
Also that's why you should have good bankroll management.
Also another reason why you check call with KK vs NIT's, OMC's, is that sometimes your read on, about player type, can be wrong.
What if they are not a NIT, OMC, and they are just unluckily going through extreme ultimate card dead ness, and because of that, you think they are a NIT, OMC, and fold your KK, to their AQ that hit Top pair, top kicker.
I know that there have been times I was extremely card dead, and players wrongly thought I was a NIT, and I was able to exploit that and bluff.
Sometimes going to have to fold AA, KK to NIT's, etc.
But most of time, rather then saying call or fold AA, KK, QQ, JJ, vs NITS, JUST PLAY VERY CAREFULLY vs NITS.
So no, AA, etc, is not a AUTO FOLD VS NITS.

Great channel. Aside from the topic in this video (which was very accurate), what do you think about Americas Card Room? I reside in New York State so online poker is very limited. I've been playing ACR for years. Never large stakes. Mostly low and micro tournaments and some cash. I will play about 5-7 tournaments a week. I will reach the bubble quite often and even min-cash. However I never go beyond min-cashing. Before the bubble I will have a commanding chip lead, within the top 10% of the field. Yet near the bubble I ALWAYS begin to lose. It never seems to fail. I also play live poker on the weekends with positive results (to the point where I have considered quitting my job to play full time) and study poker just about daily. So this all leads back to ACR and whether or not something shady is going on when players get near the money. Has anyone ever analyzed hand histories like they did with Ultimate Bet and Full Tilt Poker to see whether or not certain users are winning with sketchy hands all too often? Just curious if you know anything about ACR. Thanks for all the videos and info you provide.

Nathan, when is it that you want or need to limp in preflop? I know when we decide to bet our hand we want to bet 2,3 or 4x the bb but when is the rare occasion to limp?

    • @nicetryson
      @nicetryson Год назад

Im far from a pro but..deep in a tournament sometime limping when your are 1st to act and theres a few players that are short stack it can make them shove all in thinking you arent that strong.(espacilly if that specific person your targeting is on the BB or SB)

    • @mikehickmanvloggamessingin3604
      @mikehickmanvloggamessingin3604 Год назад

@@nicetryson That's a good strategy against looser players.
But even against semi tight, semi moderate , semi very aggressive players, shorter stacks, that is not a good way to play, and here why.
The chance that the player will get A2 to A8, K8 suited+, Q9 suited +, JT suited, QT, QJ, KT, KJ, 22, etc, on the SB, BB, is about 2% to 4% to 6% of the time.
And the chances that they will shove preflop to steal, scoop the limp ins, if they are dealt a hand in that range, and beat the EXTREMELY LOW ODDS to have such a hand on blinds in first place, is about 33%.
So because of that, when you open limp trap a premium, semi premium hand to try to trap, catch such a player, your usually about only about a 10% to 13% to 15% chance that someone will shove on blinds and bail your limp out.
Most of the time, your then in a 4,5,6,7 way limped in pot, with your trappy hand, with about a 59% to 63% chance of getting OUTFLOPPED, BEAT by the turn, river, by 1 of the 4 to 7 limpers.
It's just TOO RISKY. And you don't your limp trap bailed out, paid off, etc, often enough to justify playing that way.
And when you play that way, most of the time it doesn't work, and then the one time it miraculously works for you, some tight, limp happy player on the short stack unluckily, miraculously wakes up with a shoveable hand that is behind your limp trap hand, and shoves, and bust out, making players like you think that limp trapping like that is good, when it isn't as good as you think.
Only limp trap vs the extremely loose, hyper aggressive players.
The rest of the time, raise like you should, instead of limp trapping on a limp happy table, and you will win more, etc.

Gee...#1 Make Perfect Sense......but will there ever be a table to play at? I live in the Heart of Hold'em Country. Between Winstar's & Choctaw 40+ table poker rooms, legal card rooms, and private poker games, + Online, I have no shortage of options. But to find a table that is not a mix of TAGs, LAGs, & Nits would be like finding Eldorado.....

I imagine he's referring to the fact that there could be another 6 in the flop etc, ie just because you have a pair of Aces it's not a guaranteed win.

They could catch a straight with 7, 8, 9, and 10. They could catch a flush with 4 hearts or 4 diamonds. That could catch a 6. One of those things will happen 20% of the time and best pocket Aces

OK, I know it isn't exactly the point of the video but for #5, is K7o really such a bad call on that board? You have a straight and you block KQ which is one of the main hands villain would be representing here.
It also depends on the bet sizing, but am I missing something? I don't really play but K7o doesn't seem like a terrible hand here. I guess I'm the fish. :)

Whats crazy is, I'm a total fish. However, sometimes I'm playing WAY too wide so I try and tighten it up. Then I'm playing WAY too tight and I won't get action when I have good hands. Its literally a lose-lose LOL

I swear to god if it wasn’t for statistical anomalies, I would be a millionaire already. You have no idea how many times I was 51% on the flop and got nothing how many times somebody was 4% on the river to hit something and they do it. I don’t understand why these things these anomalies happened to me consistently. I’m mixing up my hands I’m mixing up my play it’s insane.

Fold you KK to a nit who will show you AJ on that flop. They sit and wait so long that in the end they don’t wanna fold if they hit anything.

I was dealt KK, so I raise pre flop and 1 guy calls me. 333 comes on the flop, now I have full house so I raise him and he calls me. 4 comes on turn so I raise again, he calls. 3 comes up on River (4 of a kind) I make another raise, he re raises all in, and I call(rookie mistake)…he had the ACE kicker..The rest is history

@@dietergilian1403I'm not trying to be condescending it's just everybody has a poker channel saying what you should what you shouldn't do This guy here has a book I mean it's like sports You have all these analysts and trying to break down the game and saying that take this team and the points or whatever They don't have no more insight than the regular person just watching football and being a fan I mean if people knew the right way and to do things and we shouldn't do this and you shouldn't do that it's BS that's why it's called gambling I can sports again it's no different cards people say take the point so I'm guess I guaranteed lock and they lose and they make up all excuses I mean if you knew the outcome of just I don't know a couple of football games you could retire.. Just like this guy saying it was a rookie mistake and you saying it was a easy fold , He's saying it was a mistake cuz he got beat You saying well everyone should have folded in that situation more but after the other guy was bluffing You don't know that and then it just got wins everybody goes Yeah I could call Monday morning quarterbacks .. This is voice types so there might be mistakes there's no way I would type all this on any reply Take care 🇺🇲🦅🌍⚓ USMC

    3) overvaluing top pair. That's my biggest leak. Or at least the one I notice the most. If you've got two pair or better in a hand against me, and I've got top pair, you're probably going to win a fairly big pot. Unless of course, I see 4 to a straight, or 4 to a flush on the board. I'll lay down a set if I see that.

Its a proven fact that the software can differentiate between good solid players following preflop charts and know how to read board texture and the players who open k7 suited utg k9off utg 86suited frok early position. If you're one of the latter, the sites software will help you win pots. Thats a fact

People need to realize the stats and follow them. AA isn't going to win 100% of the time vs 66. It's correct to win 80% of the time and to lose 20% of the time. Maybe your AA gets beat by 66 3 out of 5 times in one day. Okay maybe you got "unlucky" for that day, but over the log run the stats don't lie.
