    Lyrics:
    From the hill - I've been watching - stealing the light.
    In my dreams I touch animal blood rich earth swallow it down deep into my soul.
    It feeds her war and raises my true nature. When I awake I am whole.
    All the gods are screaming.
    My feet of clay lead me on through the void and far beyond
    to demonstrate my will and path, to embrace the wolf in her glory.
    All hail her and wash this time in blood.
    The horizon will burn, rise in fire and return to us.

    I listen to Neurosis,Tool,and Isis very much. I love all three bands. They all have something pure about them.
    But Neurosis takes it by miles.
    Nothing surpasses their workmanship and pure emoting while playing.

    seeing on august 16th in Houston. I was a late bloomer for Neurosis, not even being aware of them until 2007 (my freshman year of undergrad). I was on a road trip to Orlando from Austin, tx to see between the buried and me, opeth, and dream theater. The driver of our Astro van was my friend's older brother who listened to a vast assortment of metal. We listened to all genres on the way but every time I heard a song that stuck out I would ask what the band was and would write it down. By the end of the trip I had written down about 8 different tracks from Neurosis. I listened to their entire discography when I arrived home, including the newly released given to the rising. Every song I heard was better or equal to the last. Since then I have considered them by far my favorite band, even life changing. I have been fortunate enough to see them twice already, with a third time in 1 month, and can tell you they are even better live. It is truly a spiritual experience for me. I love this band.

      I saw BTBAM, Opeth and Dream Theatre on that tour at Hard Rock Orlando. The Dream Theatre visual show was one of the best I've ever seen. I've listened to them since '93 and wept. Opeth held their own as well. I got there during BTBAMs last song.

    When people speak about this album, and in reviews I've read, they mention "The Tide", "Stones from Sky" and "A Sun that never sets." All great songs but... did they not hear this crushing classic? By far the most moving and interesting chord changes on the album. Combined with an all-time vocal from Scott Kelly, this easily makes my top 5 Neurosis songs.

    God how we disappear into it all. How we forget our true nature. How we turn and turn like rocks in a tumbler when we're from dirt. The mountains, the rivers, seabeds and sky......made glossy and smooth edges with time.

    @LifevsMusic
    While I respect your opinion, there's no way that a band that released there first record in 2007 and their last in 2009 and aren't even the best progressive/post metal band to have come out of the UK, let alone the world can seriously be touted as being 'better' than a band who were making records 18 years before them and are largely responsible for creating the whole post metal subgenre. Fall of Efrafa were ok in sub- Cult of Luna kind of way, but more atmospheric than Neurosis?!

  • @elgreco18
    @elgreco18 13 лет назад +2

    @LifevsMusic
    i respectfully disagree. i like fall of efrafa, but they take an attempt for musical vulture and contemplative ideas which seem, in the end, integrated for structural purposes. to fix their stuff more exciting and likeable, although its pure. neurosis manage to leave an emotional purity in their songs which is absolutely unique. fall of efrafa are, as artists, not capable to provide this purity neurosis offers.

    I don't know if they're idiots but I always find Isis is way too clinical for my taste and a bit too "metal" where Neurosis has more passion and mixes a lot of genres in an interesting way.

  • @LifevsMusic
    @LifevsMusic 14 лет назад

    @DrRepper well, i didnt exactly say, and also didnt mean, that fall of efrafa are actually better. they just did a better job to my ears. :P
    now, i know, thats shit. :'D
    point is, that bands are actually never better than another. they may be richer, or more succesful, or techincally more skilled, but music in fact can never be better, or worse. ;)
    its just, that when i listen to FoE i get chilled every time.
    neurosis never woke emotions in me, not even close to do so.
    but thats subjective...

  • @equinesound
    @equinesound 12 лет назад +4

    Yes, I could not agree more on the vocals for Isis - The generic death grunts totally ruin the vibe (and the singing makes them sound like bad Tool),..I don’t have an issue with music that’s easy to listen to and Isis did manage some good riffs and ideas here and there but Neurosis operate at a instinctively creative level that few bands (especially “heavy” ones) are capable of and move them to a place that’s more than just “arty Metal”. Just consider yourself lucky to be aware of it!

      Neurosis is a band you do not listen to. If you're just listening you will never come close to getting it. Humans are afraid of facing all their pain, that endless deep well of ache within them. All their inner darkness that keeps them unconscious and blind. Afraid of facing all the lies of their thoughts. Neurosis is strictly a band that you must 'Surrender" to. You must fully surrender to the music. And purge purge purge, and purge some more. The ego-thinking mind is afraid of surrendering. As everything in the mind is a total lie. The Prison of the Mind.
      Do not fall into the trap of trying to understand Neurosis with your mind. Because you will never be able to understand them with your thinking mind. As thoughts can only operate in duality, and duality is total illusion in reality... Eye feel that Neurosis' album " A Sun that Never Sets" is the perfect starter album for someone new to Neurosis to experiment this with. Followed by their albums the eye of every storm and Times of Grace , to anyone new. Then later get into their heavier albums, as every Neurosis album is different.
      Neurosis has the ability to totally transform your ideas of what you believe music is. The real magical art of music. And Neurosis can broaden your horizons of creativity that you never knew existed. That are all far beyond words, and far beyond any concepts and far beyond any ideologies of the mind.
      Listen to Neurosis' entire discography over the next 3 to 6 months, alone, and fully let go, and fully surrender to it. Mold yourself into their music and let it seep into you deeply... honestly. Like when you see drops on a window on a rainy day, as the drops accumulate and mesh together and fall slowly, allow their music to fall slowly into you the same way. And more and more deeper, and don't let your thoughts get in the way. Do not think.
      The more pain you experience by surrendering to their music, the more healing you will receive with the many hidden teachings in the music, and "allow" it to flow through you. Because the immense beauty of the high consciousness of this band is far deeper than mere words, as lyrics are merely at the surface of images, and this magical band of beauty is far beyond any "images" .
      Truth is ALWAYS Paradoxical ;-)
      Raze The Stray ... Raze The Stray ... Raze The Stray !!!
      Someone in another video said that they finally understood Neurosis by smoking some Hash. I did this years and years ago accompanied by 6 beers + Hash. LOL. Neurosis + Hash can break down anyone to the core. Honey oil hash with Neurosis is only for the bravest of the brave. It's definitely not at the powerful depths of Ayahuasca, but it's strong. Step by step by step by step, as we face all the lies of our thoughts. Add some good hash and Neurosis can totally deconstruct and dismantle you nicely. The only cures for pain is hidden perfectly deep within the pain (while everyone else in society avoids it). This is something they will never teach you in any school, or in any church. Nothing is more liberating than fully facing all your darkness deep within that is far beyond the mind of thoughts. The only path to the light is by fully facing all the emptiness and darkness within. Infinite teachings of bliss and beauty far beyond any words : -)

      Robert Demeter That was very nicely written. Was a pleasure to read. You nailed it. Neurosis are on another level. Their music consumes you like an Ocean if you let it! I heard TSIB and EOS a long time ago and enjoyed both a lot. I also listened to this album though not as intently as I have in the last 6 months. Glad I re-discovered this band because everything you wrote is true. After listening to this from a place of oneness and wisdom and surrendering to the music as you said I found their music to be like an ayahuasca trip. It brought up deep seated pain and made me feel quite uncomfortable at first but as with an aya trip, After purging and purging and purging you find a sense of balance within that is indescribable. You feel the Sun That Never Sets burning within! Both the light aspect and the dark aspect one in a totally harmonious Infinity. This album in particular but all the albums I've given the time and energy will remain ingrained into my consciousness forever. I am very grateful.

    no offense and i know everybody here will troll around, or call me a troll, but in my opinion fall of efrafa did much, much better job than neurosis...
    they found a better way to combine all those genres like hardcore, post rock, black metal, all that shit... fall of efrafa did it better than neurosis. its my view... they just had more atmosphere in their songs. more emotion.
    though neurosis had a better feeling for names. i mean most guys cant even pronounce fall of efrafa. :'D
