Underlining vs. Lining - which to use?

During my latest sewing project, my fabric was so thin I needed to either underline or line the entire dress, but I struggled to figure out which was the better option. This short video will cover how I decided what to use! It's definitely not an exhaustive reference on the subject, but I think it will be helpful for those that have a garment that doesn't quite fit in either the underlining or lining category.

So glad I came across this video. Just a few days ago I watched a video where I first heard the term "underlining" and thought they were interchangeable. So I did my first underlining and didn't know it. Now I need to experience lining a garment. Thanks for making it clear!

Hi. Do you drop out the neck facing when lining?

hmmm, I'm actually not sure. I would probably keep the facing to prevent the neckline from rolling, but could be wrong!
