Punggol used to be a very large area. Old Tampines Road used to be in the Punggol area. If you look at Punggol Park & Punggol Primary School, they're both not in Punggol!
Everyone says this is too expensive and overrated and i thought u would either not review this or not like it. For me, this consistently hits the spots and satisfies the craving. My fav combi is chicken wing + egg + brinjal + lady fingers + another deepfried side and extra helping of sambal. Needs a serving now…
Been eating this for 15 years! Its amazing how they keep their shop clean and taste consistent throughout the years. Hugely recommend the eggplant and long beans (si ji dou).
Helloo..the best nasi lemak is of course in Malaysia, the country where its originated from.
Its originated from the malays ,so the best are malay nasi lemak. Try Nasi lemak Wanjo in kampung Baru, KL.. the top rated nasi lemak in Malaysia. Good luck!
Always looking forward to this series every week
been eating this for 20 years (im only 34), and have always told my friends that this would be my last meal on earth XD you have to mix the HBH with egg and the rice!

@@zultana2078 dude literally already went to Malaysia for Nasi Lemak lol...even gave Wanjo 0 plates 🤣it's on this series' playlist
i like the Pork set
very delicious
Their brinjal and ladies finger is damn good too.
Rice is so flavourful you could eat it on its own.
Was here a few weeks ago and thought, surely Alderic’s gotta include this one in the series. And tada! 👍😎🎉🙌
Used to open till 2-3am 8 years ago. I rmb cycling to the Tanjong Katong branch at 1am just to eat Ponggol nasi lemak after studying so hard during my uni days!!!
You should also try the rice with their curry vegetables. The gravy will make it even more lemak. Sedap
$19 what has the world gone to!
Did u see what he ordered and how much ingredient before commenting?
@@gabriellim2650 Of course i did, but still it's more expensive than most nasi lemak, which is undeniable.
agree with most of the comments here - the star side dishes at Punggol Nasi Lemak are the veg - whether it be the sambal stir-fried veg (brinjal, lady finger, long beans) or curry veg - pair these with a sunny side up egg and you won’t even miss the chicken wing - time for another visit Alderic to do it justice 😂
"The real Ponggol is the friends we make along the way" -Alderic 2024 💀
This is my favourite place for chicken wing and nasi lemak!
Note that the time you eat the dish matters. For this, you had it at opening time so everything is freshly made.
i always get their brinjal, sooo good
the name i think is 2 fold, 1 is that ponggol originally refered to a MUCH bigger area (which includes the current kovan area, upper serangoon area, etc.) and 2 is the original seller is an old lady who had a pushcart who sold it throughout the region. this is tiagong from my dad who used to buy from her whenever she pass by his house (in charlton park alrea) when he was young. her specialty back then was actually the chicken wing which you enjoy, i am pretty sure she has some kind of peanut thingy in the coating thats why it smells so damn good when you eat it
I bet very few knew how their ikan bilis was like back in the 90s. Totally different standard now as the recipe somehow evolved over the years amd became totally dried version.
They use the smaller whitebait instead of the usual larger anchovies. No bony bits. Easy to eat.
Hi which sambal is better? ponggol or village park?
Try any of the fong seng nasi lemaks. I wanna see how they hold up...
Hi Alderic, please try Aliff Nasi Lemak at Serangoon Gardens Hawker Centre if you aren’t too tired of eating Nasi Lemak hahaha
i would to see you try akka nasi lemak in selangor, since u have tried malay, indon n chinese, why not find for an indian one as well? i think there is also one branch in sg as well
PUNGOL nasi lemak that i first know it was at upper Serangoon that was near Punggol , beside the teochew porridge.BUT i guess just put up a street name that u r near like BALI NASI LEMAK and u will catch attention back then
I not sure what u mean on the inefficiencies but the purpose is to split into 2 counter when ordering and there is no need to go back front to pay. Its more like ppl indecisiveness when ordering that jam up the queues usually.
The are the first outlet is in used to be called punggol. Then the maps were redrawn.
Yi Liu Xiang is nearby at the Lorong Ah Soo market aka Hainanese Village Centre, the latter which is a silly rename by the then powers to be as there is no Hainanese food there. The rice is.. I will say cannot find in any other places in Singapore. Used to have more staff, but uncle (current owner) quarrel with son, son not working with him after that, so now only him and his mum (original owner). Open selected days. $3. Rice nice. Rice
謝謝!
Thanks for the support!
I would say nasi lemak ayam taliwang tastes better and gives you more bang for your buck.
I don't know if it is just me, but the rice in jalan besar outlet tasted - very mid. But yeah, pricing is definitely on the high side
Yay
sibei expensive. i only go for the packet $2 ones hahaha
That is crazy expensive
I actually think ayam goreng berempah and rendang of the likes make the nasi lemak jelak very quickly
You never eat Husk Nasi Lemak, you never lived! 🎉
Alderic! Are you trying any in Changi Village 🌚
Ate the one at Jalan Besar and wasn't impressed......maybe there's inconsistencies between different branches....
day 3 of asking for pangkor island nasi lemak at bukit canberra :)
Try madam kwan:s?
Is it halal ?
When coconut club tho
Alderic I thought u spelled the title wrongly 😂
is quite expensive....please recommend the good and cheap ones
$20 sgd? 😱
is Alderic single?
😂 bruh you sot ah? Where got peeple eat $20 Nasi Lemak wan? Siao ah?
Boon lay power nasi lemak?
Lousu
Thanks

sambal shrimp 1.50

prawn 3
coconut rice 1.50
spicy chicken (3pcs) 4.20
ikan bilis 1.50
fish (2xS) 2
ah char 2
I thought they overcharged but they actly did not omg.
Even if they're not arrested for inefficiency they should be arrested for daylight robbery!
D:< SUPPOSED. not SHO-pposed.
Thanks for keeping me honest :p
I also dont know why people keep saying PGNL is overrated, yes its expensive but not overrated and their consistency is scary almost every time you will get 8/10 bowl of nasi lemak
Worst nasi lemak I've eaten! At two of their outlet at Katong and Jalan Besar. The katong outlet have dry, skinny chicken wing, hardly any meat or flavour. The Jalan Besar one also mediocre, nothing impressive! Always wonder why got queues... Eaten once, never going back!!
Quite disappointed that u didnt listen to my recommendation. Jurong west hawker center funtastic nasi lemark
Most expensive cai fan
Nope. For example, Shangri-La Hotel Nasi Lemak is $26++
Surprised with your rating. Yi Liu Xiang is far far better imo, the best Chinese style I’ve had.
Real Nasi Lemak was made by the real Malay auntie, by the roadside
What with the chinese style sides😂😂😂 its ruin it
Thats more like an Indonesian style nasi lemak
This is not even close to being called Nasi Lemak. Please don't ruin this Malaysia national dish. This is more like chap fun.
Overrated
