      Andrew Lloyd so how effective is the hip flexer

    • @SkighAthletics
      @SkighAthletics  5 лет назад +57

      D'Angelo Russell The main reason I always warm up / suggest warming up your hip flexor is to take tension off the quads. It’s a muscle that can be difficult for basketball players to warmup considering they rarely get in a full-sprint like a football player or track athlete. Activating the hip flexor distributes the pressure throughout smaller muscles so the quad can perform better and pain free.

    Is there a specific reason training lower back increases vert?

    • @SkighAthletics
      @SkighAthletics  5 лет назад +4

      someguy1000009 It compliments the core and it’s also bridge between your lower and upper body. A strong and stable low back is key to more balance and controlled explosiveness in your athletic movements!

  • @James-qn9rg
    @James-qn9rg 4 года назад +1

    Will progressively overloading compounds movements that don’t use leg muscles still help with improving vertical? So will working on my bench help?

    • @SkighAthletics
      @SkighAthletics  4 года назад +1

      James71695 I think progressively overloading upper body movements gives me a higher ceiling for strength for my lower body and just keeps me “balanced” / grounded. I enjoy training with heavy weights and have other fitness goals outside of dunking so that’s why I go a bit bananas on upper body but I just thing quick-twitch/ “strong” & conditioned muscles all around are key! But, that’s just me!
