Main take, it's a society builder, rather than a city builder.
Your main obstacles and management are societies of peoples, rather than with buildings and resources.
Automatons?!
*democracy intensifies*
There is no city builder where building a residential district next to an industrial district is a good idea.
I played a lot of the first Frostpunk so I think its neat to see that the second one will be a different experience than the first - after all, we can play the first game or the second. Just because the next in the series has a number 2 in front of it does not necessitate that it needs to be "the first but more". Though I do wonder if I will be hit with the same emotional beats the first game had with the general feel. With people feeling the depersonalisation with the city growing larger, it is just natural with taking on a larger scale. You might have had control over a few hundred people but now it is going to be thousands so... I personally welcome the more macro scale. Maybe it will scratch the itch of a more hands off level of control as you play, managing the powers that be.
And in recent times, going back to playing Endless Legends or Old World has kept my mind abuzz about certain aspects. People see hexes and immediately think "Oh this is clearly like X" when it is not. I sincerely hope diplomacy inside and outside the city in Frostpunk 2 will be a good system.
The big question certainly will be, "Will this game make me feel emotional as the first" as things occur. It already has set itself a little different... No longer a Town in size, but a whole city. You can only be directly in control of so much. Who knows how oil will change things either. As for me, I will be waiting until July patiently.
Man that music, Marty talked about "emotional equity" when making music from halo 1,2, and 3. Frostpunk nailed it from 1 to 2. That music hits hard.
everytime, it's actualy the most game that toughed me via music, it's just emotionally mesmerizing,
its defo different but i think it makes sense considering they wanted to emphasise the society settlement builder aspect :) rlly excited to see how it is on release/deeper into the campaign. it’s not the same but if i wanted the same i could just play the first game
Alternating between 999 and 1000 likes is way more satisfying than I could have imagined.
Where is my big thermometer in the middle? 😅
I'm really not sure about the lack of detail zoom and the change in the game speed to days/weeks rather than being able to watch in real-time. I really loved the intimate feel of the first, and this one seems way more macro-focused, which I get lore-wise, but it changes the whole feel and ambiance to me.
Same for me. I was hoping maybe in the second game it will allow more intimate relation with your citizens and more details because of better graphics. Now I'm kinda disappointed 😞
I’m really liking what I’m seeing so far, looks like they took every concept from the first game and expanded on each and every one of them. Can’t wait to get my hands on it and see the final product
Looks more like an actual city builder, and not just a single city survival game. Like mixing frostpunk 1 with simcity with cities skylines.
I feel like they made the game simple and boring from the looks of it. Idk guess we'll have to stay tuned
I'm not getting those vibes at all, most city builders focus on the city simulation itself. This feels more like a city builder mobile game which I know its NOT that but thats the feeling because they streamlines the simulation aspect of the citizens and workers.
@@alexanderwilson1246I highly doubt that is the case
@raskolnikov6443 dude did you even play the first game? This looks like an absolute wreck with the entire games mechanics ripped out.
@@alexanderwilson1246 In my opinion, straight up looks like a different version of the game to me. Doesn't need to cater to everyone, im sold on it though.
Been waiting years for this game!!! First game is one of the best survival city builders of all time imo
This is great, from micro-managing to macro, now the games have system, council, faction and the games turn from narrow city building to empire/country like city building 👍
I really enjoy that in this channel both the creator and the viewers always talk about the music. Its amazing.
OOUHH, this looks so nice, thanks for the preview!

I think sofware or engine limitations is the crucial reason the game using mobile strategy like interface. Just imagine millions of interacting algorithms, so many mid tier pc wouldn't be able to handle it.
Interesting that the gameplay mechanics have changed a lot there. It could be a good idea. At least we don’t get to play the same Frostpunk game twice. This one seems to allow us to play at a bigger scale.
Very interesting twist on the original: politics dialed up to 11
I really enjoyed the first game, and I was so excited when I heard about this.
48:27 bro this is the silcrow, the symbol of law.
Glory to Raptoria
I wonder what could be changed to turn this game in to something we will love as much as the first one
What was so special about the Frostpunk
Glory to Raptoria!
Remember guys, this is just a preview build. Things might change in the finished product.
What finished product? It releases in practically 2 months.
@@dardoura Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Things we see in this video might change in the finished product because this is just a preview build. Sorry if I'm not being clear enough.
Edit: Grammar
Two months dude, no way they can change enough to make it decent.
If it was a thing or two, sure. But only the art and music resembles the first game.
It's a good base but lacks the chaos and constant desperation frostpunk was built out of. If they can improve the immersion and the feeling of constant struggle before full release then it has the potential to live up to frostpunks name, maybe even top it.
I really don't like that time flies so fast in this game, it was something special when you were seeing how people struggle, they work, their animations of it.
I’m convinced after seeing a small bit of what the main story has to offer, I think I speak for most of us when I say that we played for the setting and the world, and especially the story with its unique twists and turns, and especially with the concept that this is a sequel not about just mother nature but human nature foremost!
so is this like, people now found a way to produce their needs and now focused their efforts in expanding and advancing technology?
Looks great
Im stoked to play this game ngl
Amazing!
No need for more words......
the first city/society building type game i really into i played over 300hrs on the first one🤩
Not sure this one will be for me. First game seemed more....I dont know, immersive.
It’s the endless mode not story
@@lazarus-qu4ql I'm well aware, the entire scope of the gameplay is different. Which is fine don't get me wrong, just personally not for me.
@@TheJanemba999 ok that’s fair, it’s stupid to force opinions
@@lazarus-qu4qli believe not because of the mode but the theme and vibe feel different.i mean a lot different.
From the government, give me money 😂
aesthetics of the first game were much much better
Be honest raptor, how long into the game before you started thing about Manor Lords
Yay
Build that logistic district?
Automaton do dooo dododo
If you know, you know.
I'm gonna loose a month of my life when this game launches.
Looking forward to this. Gamepass day one makes it an easy yes for me. If by chance it doesn't live up to the hype, at least i won't have spent extra money on it.
They pretty much fucked it up from the looks of it
How
@@lazarus-qu4ql They took away the very essence that made Frostpunk great and unique. It has become another post-apocalyptic city builder
I think it looks good, so I purchased the deluxe addition to play the demo. Keeps crashing. Used the error code and tried everything I could find online to fix it with no luck.
i really think that they used different game engine so that there's going to be mods/steam workshop later in the future.
I'm not sure if I liked the scale increase and the loss of control over micromanagement of resources. For now the original Frostpunk still seems better than this one, but i need to see more. I will probably prioritize Manor Lords over this.
how is the game looking guys?
not good imo, to me atleast it seems like it went in the direction of a generic city builder rather than the unique survival/city builder it was
I agree with previous comment. I bought it but refunded after 30 minutes.
To me, in this state and how the building part works, the game has lost it soul and what made it fun, engaging and interesting.
@@mindriddlerQ damn what a huge disappointment. i guess manor lords it is. i still play frostpunk 1 sometimes it was that good
Soul of fp 1 absolutely gone from fp 2
really hope there will be some sort of a demo for people like you who didnt want to buy the game to try the beta/game (very understandable) and drawing a picture from other people opinions and essentially not even giving it a try (very not understandable^^)
Weird that the crater seems to be gone. Maybe this is an alt map, and it'll be there in the campaign? I can't see how it would disappear or get completely covered up by the city in just 30 years.
Not alle the maps got crater inn the first one
There were dozens of generators in the first game's world. Each DLC scenario used different generator sights, as well as the ones from the sandbox mode.
@@rageagainstmyhatchet I know, I was just kind of hoping part 2 would be a continuation of the city from the campaign of the first game
Yes
Yes lads
Aye
I like the game, but it feels that is getting a lot more complex and a lot more like a city builder, I dunno if I like the idea so much, the first game raised the bar really high, it was a more "micro" game, this one is more "macro".....umm I'm conflicted
I havnt even finished the first one.
i thought he said Goodbye RUclips?
Why do I feel like? That looks good, but it’s different, which makes it bad.
Idk, I don't like it. It does not feel like Frostpunk. Gameplay wise it looks more like Endless Legend, also with the hex grid.
That’s the endless mode and it’s frostpunk 2 not frostpunk 1.5
I bought it and shelfed it rather fast, it was cheap so why not. "I put it on the shelf" so to say, i have just too many games i do that with since gaming is not all that anymore.
My patience is rather shallow and i´m boring. How many hours does Raptor put into gaming every week?
"I bought it and shelfed it rather fast, it was cheap so why not." i tend to do this in recent time too but i fear of never playing them haha.
I put over 450 hours into the first game and this beta so far has been disappointing. This is a completely different game than the first one, devs completely missed the point of what people liked about the first one
No, I'm sorry. I can see there was A LOT of work put into it. But it's just.. I don't know what is this game for :(
I mean it's frost. And it's punk. But it is not the Frostpunk
It's like making the first Hunger Games as a drama about Catniss and the second as a documentary about geopolitics
Obviously it was never going to be exactly like the first game, it had a premise where you had to start from nothing and build up from there all alone. Frostpunk 2 was never going to be that, and it was always going to get bigger in some ways and smaller in others. That closer relationship with a tightnit group isn't there. I hope they compensate for what we lose by going bigger, but at the end of the day, not everyone who played the first is going to like the second. I am one of those people who will probably prefer the first game because of its sense of loneliness and overcoming odds. That being said, I hope there is Mod Support.
should you play Frostpunk 1 to understand Frostpunk 2 or they're seperated ? (I'm talking about the game understanment etc..) not story wise.
Gameplay wise it’s different
I'm not sure about this, Frostpunk 2 went into a different direction than I expected.
Why strip out the elements that made Frostpunk 1 good?
The music sounds very much like the Expanse….
This is coming off my wishlist dissapointed
How come?
Hello Raptor
Honestly, I'm really glad I didn't buy the pre-order.
From the first game to this one the change is just too much, they completely changed the type of city builder.
I like city builders where I need to manage every little thing, like:
If I create a single extra house, my entire city could fall;
That I can send a single person, that is 5% of my population, to risk freezing to death, but potentially get me more resources;
Even CIV has a more personal and survivalist feel than what we saw here.
yea 45$ mobile game
There are people here who dont like frostpunk 2 for being different.
If you dont like it, go back to frostpunk 1.
Ive only watched 16mins of this video and already im p*ssed. This is not the frost punk 2 I was hoping for. I hoped it would be the same as original but new world with more very difficult decisions to make. Yes, the artwork and music is brilliant as it was in the first game but they've killed its beautiful soul. I dont sense the misery that was in abundance in the original.
It’s in the future where people have adapted to the frost, not where it just happened. People have learned to live in the cold so it’s not as depressing and I like that
Great potential marred by going too far off the path the first game set sadly. Really hoping they change gears a bit but ended up refunding after a few beta playthroughs. The souls just not there.😮💨
They have changed it !! city building /survival Frostpunk 1 is no more , after playing this for 7 hours straight i am on the fence here , no more strategic building things it feels more like point and click building game . generator options are limited not like first game . shelter system is lacking as well :( i am sad .
Why the heck is the UI so white and simplify wheres the style
Damn... I don't think I like it. The UI is ugly compared to the original's "steampunkess". Building whole districts makes you feel disconnected from the very up-close, personal and intimate feel you get when you're weighting every single life in the first game. The politics system is cool, but it's not that advanced as you can see after an hour. I suppose both the camera and the PoV have "zoomed out" and it's about something bigger... but I loved the zoomed-in details of the original struggle to survive...
Doesnt look great tbh , city building looks boring and soulless
I was expecting them the building more customizable and personal instead its now replaced with hex grid ? Really guys that was a dumb decision 🙄
I loved Frostpunk. This looks like crap. If I wanted to play civilization, I'd play civilization.
First game is better for me, this seems...I don't know not appealing.
Wait so the whole concept of the game changed? Looks like a completely different game... not in a good way
it could be a new take on the concept
Thank god I didn't pre-order it
They wanted to try something else. They did. You may not like it but that’s what they wanted
Concept of the game is the exact same… Manage a city via upgrades and laws to survive the cold.
What changed?
