If you want a good quality output, check out Morimoto's XB LED headlight assemblies for these trucks. I just installed mine and it's a great upgrade. It's pricey, but you can pay monthly. It's worth it, IMO.
Those look pretty cool man! I definitely thought about it. But wanted to try and get the most out of the factory housings first! Glad to hear your positive thoughts though 💭! That might sway my decision 🤔
I'm done driving in the dark with my 2014 Sierra 1500. I just ordered from the link you posted but I didn't check, will these work on the 1500 series or is your truck the 2500 series?
@@benq.mechanical Think I found it, ruclips.net/video/ZizX0ccRlJs/видео.html And also here, www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/162734-foglights-on-with-high-beams/
Huge difference. The single beam is kinda limited to begin with, but the more intense bulb brightened everything up a lot and beam stretched further. Very worth it.
Really only one way it'll go in. There are three tabs on the bulb flange and it'll only fit in the one way. Even so, there's nothing that'll be affected otherwise. You're good to go 👍
Haha. Yep. I think they've got some complaints from people who put 5202's in the housing and they melted. Probably due to not being installed properly. Or maybe there's been concerns these are too bright. I don't know. In any case, the link provided is the exact set I ordered. I've had them in for 18 months and there wasn't any major issue. The heat sink is a little heavy off the back, and did cause one side to fall out before. But after I resecured (shoulda done that to start) it hasn't been a problem. I wouldn't worry too much. Just make sure when you get them to take extra care in installing and securing.
I guess I didn't ever finish that! I'll get another video up with a review. But to answer your question, the HIDs did help, but I still think an upgraded projector would be a better solution. What made a bigger difference was doing the diode hack to make the fog lights come on with the headlights. I have upgraded LED fog lights, but even if you just stick with stock bulbs, having both the fog lights and the high beams is a definite must. It's a $5.00 upgrade that will change your opinion of the entire truck.
Well, they worked good for a year or so...then I traded the truck off lol. Guess I need to do a new video again. But would I use them again? Yes, absolutely.
@@benq.mechanicalso how do the bulb clips work?? I ordered some new lights just like these but not the same company and my clips would not work on them
@@toddmaxwell1676 which clip? The bulbs themselves are 9005/9006 styled. So they just went in and twist clicked like the factory bulbs. It's the ballist box and extra wiring that is a pain 🤪
Anyone that used the HID headlights, do they still work during the day as daytime running lights? The Amazon site for the product says they won't work because during sunlight the car only sends half power to the headlights which won't be enough to run the lights, or if they do they'll flicker.
Ugh, I hear ya. I thought the HD trucks got HID in like 2016? Might not hurt to look at upgrading there. It was a real disappointment because the previous generation had the best headlights out of any vehicle haha. Good luck with your rig.
Unfortunately not. 2014 & 15 came with this style of headlight housing. It only came with a halogen bulb. I watch the initial launch of this generation and everyone in the press was like "wha??" lol. So long story short. You either need to upgrade the bulbs or upgrade to 2016-18 housings. Hope that helps.
@@heartofgold8182 I tried a couple different LED bulbs and wasn't impressed with either. Went right for the HIDs. That'd be my recommend. If you want LEDs I'd look for a '16-18 set of housings. LEDs are built in. Hope that helps.
Fair enough haha. I'll add that in the description. If you click the headlight link it takes you to the bulbs. Its a little awkward because they are 9012 / HR2 's I believe. So it can be either. Confusing 😐

Mine is a 1500 as well. So, you should be good to go! The 2500's should be the same if they don't have factory HID's either.
If I can make a recommendation to do the 'high beam fog light upgrade' using a diode as well I would definitely consider that.

On the Sierra's the only day time running lights are the LED strips 😊. Headlights don't need to be on the extra heat yellows the lenses
