as a Nebraskan i find it oddly accurate that a Nebraskan scammer would return the money even though they could have very easily ran off with it.
I love being a nebraskan
@Alpha Wërks I believe this could happen. As for the broker, I give him credit for originality and execution. Beyond that, his name needs to be known.
The reason I think this could/did happen: He came up with a way to get an essentially free short-term loan. He returned the money because as it sits, he'd get a side eye from the police but they wouldn't do much as no crime was committed. If he kept the money and then was found out, he'd be in for multiple crimes, including wire fraud, which in itself comes with several fines and up to 20 years in prison, plus the loss of anything purchased with stolen funds, and then the investigation/loss of anything tied to him and his business that even remotely looks questionably purchased.
A. Scam a couple guys for a few weeks, get the car you want with a short term loan you wouldn't normally be able to get, and then give their money back, all is (mostly) well.
B. Keep the money, enjoy your scam, get hunted down when the right crowd finds out about the story, life gets ripped apart and you land in jail....

Now that the history of the car has been discovered, it should be interesting to see if the person claiming they were defrauded pursues criminal charges. Wire fraud is a federal crime and if that money was used to purchase the black car, that car would then be the proceeds of crime.
Considering the very real amount of money (allegedly) involved and the very real federal crime that (allegedly) occurred, the victim willing to let simply 'let it be' says more about the validity of the story than Ed ever could.
@@robertlee6338 exactly. They got their money back so what’s the damages ? They lost some interest but apparently, or I’ll just assume, there never was an agreement to pay JR interest on their money so there’s really nothing to sue about or file charges on.

@@BMWSRR-yd6do I see your point I think it’s a bit different though becauseJR willingly sent the funds rather than being forced.
