i love that fact that he doesn't stick to the way his songs are in the studio versions, every time he performs its different and that's part of his charm
Wait until it becomes 51 years and you will likely be saying the same thing, ha! I know it's not a fair comparison but I saw the Beatles in Seattle when I was 14 and I'm still hooked!
I just discovered this video & it blows my mind. I'm still amazed at how much 2 musicians only can Rock so hard. I read somewhere that Jimmy Page asked Jack White to teach him how to play Seven Nation Army. Can you imagine how that made Jack feel....Wow!!!!! ✌️🖤🤘
It's weird the degree to which Jack and Meg is on the same wavelength. The preformance is different all the time but Meg has no problem reading Jack and what is going to happen. Her drumming is so simple and raw and his guitar play so emotional and big, and it mixes so perfectly. I sooo wish I had gotten to see them live!
I did and it was one of the greatest moments of my life. It was seriously the best concert ever, afterwards I felt like I just experienced a rift in the space-time continuum. Seriously, you have to build yourself a time machine, dude!
The last two minutes was some of the greatest free lance dirty blues I’ve seen. Those high note whines tho. Went from bb king to master of puppets in 60 seconds
2004 me and my wife walked out a restaurant in Bridlington uk 🇬🇧 to walk straight into jack and meg .. I literally couldn’t speak .. we had tickets to see them the next night .. had our photo with them . Had a little chat with jack .. my work here on earth is done . Greatest moment of my life … miss them so much
As a blues fanatic/musician since I've been 4 years old (24 now) I call this blues, here's why, it's raw, it's raunchy, and there is so much emotion it's exploding from the stage. That's what the blues is about, clearly you need a lesson on that. And another thing, no one asked you to come here and talk down this band, so let the listeners listen.
I love the passion and rawness of this performance. Rock and roll in it's truest form, bluesy, loud, gritty, primitive and two musicians who are feelin it.
Congratulations; well done to the audience. You decoded the message. It can be discovered in the electric blues. It was delivered by Jimi Hendrix. With the power of soul anything is possable. The blues runs through the veins of each man, woman and child. The blues stems from the Mississippi delta. It is the rhythmic frequency of the human race. It resonates throughout the human soul. It speaks and teaches love, happiness, peace and respect to fellow humans. Pass on this message to all.
The ultimate performance of this song. The way you can hear Jack talk to Meg, the energy in the performance, the slowing down then speeding up. Biblical
Julie Patrice Khial A Jack White Quote "When the first album was done, I got a lot of people saying 'Robert Plant!' That just hurt my feelings. The one member of Led Zeppelin I didn't really care about"
I love the energy jack and Meg give off if you can’t enjoy playing and making it’s going to be boring and everybody else will feel the same. One of my favourite bands
OMG!!! Well this is the 1st time I've heard this, but it won't be the last!! This is the best performance hes ever done, IMFO Rock n Roll Baby!!!!!!!! ✌️🖤🤘
That solo can never be played the same again
He plays it
awesome song to burlesque dance to
@@yeahh8402 never the same though always different but equally amazing

Yup !
I like the studio the most
he jazzes it up
Yeah
he just has fun with it live, so free with that fuckin thing
11 years later and I'm still hooked on the beat of this song
14 years
@@albertcravero3181
It’s actually been 18 years since the Elephant album came out.
Can’t believe it’s near the 20th anniversary of that one.
That’s what timeless music is 👍🏻♥️

I think Jack's probably by far the best guitarist of this generation, there's no one like him
+Ben Jones John Fruiscante
true, also Annie Clark is incredible
Matt Bellamy is pretty good. Before they came out with The Resistance of course.
+Rich Little Bellamy is no where near as innovative as jack
Sam Ramsden Omar Rodríguez-López from Mars Volta, miles ahead of this guy
I thank everyday Hendrix, Lennon and the gods of rock'n'roll that I got to see this band live. Changed my life.
So jealous!
A very COOL & respectul comment!
Probably one of the best White Stripes performances
Agreed. The album version of this song is already one of their best songs ever, and I like this more than the album version
One of the best performances, EVER!!
Death letter at blackpool lights is the best😩

yeah they were soulmates
Hard to believe she had stage fright huh?
@@lewannajordan2447 She was a strong woman ❤
I feel the same she would of been so instrumental to up and coming female drummers today. I love how Beyonce uses all female band members .

I wish I could have seen these two perform in my lifetime
Can't get more raw and organic than this
meg and jack have perfect chemistry

One of his best improvised Ball and Biscuit solos!!!
The last two minutes was some of the greatest free lance dirty blues I’ve seen. Those high note whines tho. Went from bb king to master of puppets in 60 seconds

This has to be the best live performance of this song. So good!
The first time I heard this song, my son was playing it. I was like , who are these guys 😱🎧🎤🥁 play it again. 💪🏼
love Jack's vocal delivery of this, a lot different to the album version and an absolutely fantastic performance
The Blues is alive and well in Detroit!!!

I love the crowd in this video, and I love how their sound is mixed in
It's amazing.. Jack's playing is rather simple, but it's the soul and finesse behind those chords that are unmistakable.
i cant turn this up loud enough
This is such a passionate rendition of Ball and Biscuit. I love it.
This could be the greatest thing ever.
There's so much soul in their music.
@3:20 He's singing Howlin' Wolf's "I asked for water (but she gave me gasoline)"

The White Stripes, sneaking the Blues into pop music since 1997.
Love this version / performance!

Jack White is a creative genius, and a GOD. Which was probably his goal. One day, this will be more widely recognized ♥ Am very proud of him ♥
