Eddie is the guitarist, and his brother Alex is the drummer. Their last name is Van Halen. David Lee Roth is the acrobatic lead vocalist, and Michael Anthony is the hitting bassist. Eddie Van Halen is said to be one of the greatest guitarists in the history of modern music, due to his double handed tapping techniques and the use of harmonics in his style of playing. Both he and Alex are classically trained musicians, immigrants with their parents from the Netherlands, their father an accomplished clarinet player. They have a lot of history, and the VH rabbit hole is a interesting and vast one you'd like to dive into sometimes.
Yup, all of this. With the added note that David Lee Roth (the lead singer) has extensive martial arts training, and some of that is evident in the way he moves on stage (jumps, kicks, etc.). He went on to have a good solo career (on the goofy side for many of the songs), while Van Halen brought on a new lead singer, Sammy Hagar, who had already had success as solo.
@@greendragonpublishing All of that as well, and David Lee Roth's solo band was amazing, with Steve Vai, Billy Sheehan, and Gregg Bissonette.
It was David Lee Roth’s idea to name the band after the brothers last name..
About the classically trained thing: After the family moved to the USA, Eddie and Alex entered youth class classical piano competitions and pretty much owned all of those in North America for several years straight. They would come in 1st and 2nd every time, only the order changed.
Then they got bored of doing the same thing over and over and quit. And decided to rock.
Yep, so true.
Rip Eddie Van Halen thanks for your amazing talent you left us way too soon 🙏🎸
the soundtrack of my misspent youth . . .
Many people will argue but everyone their own opinion but Eddie did completely changed the musical scene forever!!! And many people believe that Eddie was the greatest guitarist that there has ever been. David Lee Roth was very into martial arts from a young age and that is why he was always doing the spits and jumping around and kicking his legs out. You can make up your own mind but there have been guitarist that played with their teeth or behind their backs and had very fast fingers but NO ONE HAD EVER PLAYED THE WAY THAT EDDIE PLAYED until he came onto the scene and everyone after he came were just copying how Eddie played. He didn't invent the technique of tapping but he perfected it and he did invent the 2 finger tapping that only he was able to do for many years. Alex is a n animal on the drums and he is considered to be one of greatest drummers ever. You need to watch the biography of the Van Halen brothers when you have the time.

I think I have watched just about every documentary out there about VH.....and i would watch more!
I discovered another great place to get info on the history of Van Halen...and that is the RUclips channel for the studio where they recorded their first several albums, "Sunset Studios"......a bunch of really good stuff on there from people who were there...throughout the early years!
(BTW...I am also Kevin) 😊
David Lee Roth was the epitome of what all rock singers strived to be back in the '80s.
The 80's was Van Halen and 200 bands trying to be Van Halen.
DLR was categorically the best front man ever. He set the standard for all the rest to copy. I got to see the 1984 tour and it was mind blowing...
Robert Plant was THE mold for all future, hard rock frontmen.
DLR was the mold for the 80s hard rock frontmen.
@ezsmith3765
Mick Jagger 60's
Robert Plant 70's
Diamond Dave 80's
"Blue-eyed murder in a size-five dress", one of the coolest lyrics ever.
For the longest time I always thought he said "Sci Fi dress" 😅
@@Rockmanxpr my original thought was, "sideswipe dress". I had no idea what a sideswipe dress was; but if it was cool enough for Van Halen to sing about, I wanted to find out!
Dave gets knocked for a lot of reasons, but he was one of the sharpest lyricists ever....actually used the word inevitable once
@@RoGueNavy I always thought it was side-swipe as well. A dress that will hit you like a car crash when you see her, but, I can hear what Dave is saying here. Mondegreens are a thing, apparently. LOL
Absolutely!!!
Michael Anthony always had great back up vocals.
The real Halen fanz always say this ☺️
True dat
One hell of a bassist to
Michaels backing vocals are as much the "sound" of Van Halen as is Eddie's guitar.........and the dude is a beast on the bass to boot.
Everybody just talks Michael Anthony but I've never seen anybody mention Eddie's vocals. He's got a microphone too and actually before DLR joined, Eddie was the lead singer. He's a very big part of VH's backing vocals.
Van Halen with David Lee Roth as lead singer IS Organized Chaos. Welcome to the Party
Eddie is always in the conversation when people debate who the best guitarist is. He’s a legitimate contender for sure. 😊
Eddie Van Halen isn't called the King because he is the 2nd best guitar player ever.
@@claytoncarey2730 I’m not saying that I disagree but not everyone calls him the King.
@@kimzwolinski9919 if they don't, stop listening to them. None better.
@@muchlove6173 😂 I don't play guitar or know anything about the technicalities at all so I couldn't begin to say who was technically the best. My 2 to watch and listen to are Slash and Steve Steven's he is Billy Idol guitarist and I have no idea where they belong on the list. Oops, I almost forgot to mention Prince he is in a tie with Steve Steven's 🤘😊🎸✌️
@@claytoncarey2730 you are the only person ever to refer to him as the king...
Van Halen was a kick ass party band, they gave you your moneys worth and they brought their party to us in their live show.
Eddie always topic of best lead guitar player but what’s overlooked is he’s one hell of a rhythm guitarist too…
And an excellent piano/keyboard player too.
You have to understand that when Eddie came onto the music scene in the late 70's no one had ever heard anything like how Eddie played the guitar or anywhere close to the speed that he was able to play it. Remember he never had a single guitar lesson in his life and he took piano lessons as a boy but he never learned how to read music so when he came onto the music scene and was doing things that no one had ever seen before they had to invent a new way to write music so they could describe in writing what Eddie was doing when he was playing the guitar. He said once that he approached the guitar just like he played the piano. And that is probably why Eddie did things on the guitar that no one had everimagined could be done with the guitar. All hail King Edward Van Halen!!!!
this riff is in Drop D and very first time I heard Drop D rock guitar . Eddie wrote some killer riffs!
The dad of Eddie and Alex, Jan Van Halen, was a pretty hot wind instrument player back in Netherlands. When the boys were young the family took the boat to America with only a few bucks in their pocket. Jan would play during dinners on the boat to feed the family. You can actually hear Jan Van Halen lay down a solo in the song 'Big Bad Bill".
The lead singer, David Lee Roth, was an incredibly limber front man with an extensive martial arts background including Kung Fu, Jeet Kune Do and Karate as well as sword fighting. No front man has ever come close to displaying such prowess onstage!
was gonna mention the same, and his Northern White Crane style High Kicks were legendary.
Don't forget DLR has also extensive knowledge of "Funky Dance Grooves" and amazing outdoor prowess!
Too bad he couldn't SING.
@@bostoncityofchampions6581 Wrong.
@@choppingpenguin Right. Ask EVH.
Only 3 instruments... and a singer.
The guitar player is Eddie Van halen and founder of the band, and the drummer is Alex Van halen.
Alex also the co founder of the band. Don't sell Al short
It was david lee roths idea to name the band Van Halen
Britt! Your reaction to the "idea of RnR" was so right-on! VH was the epitome of rebelliousness...DLR the lead personified it.
Eddie is was an innovator of the late 70s-early/mid 80s genre of hard rock guitar paying. He did things that were way different and unorthodox that blew many people away. Probably the best of his generation..However, prior to Eddie's death in October 2020 if asked he would say he wasn't the greatest of all time. He'd say Eric Clapton. But Eddie VH definitely influenced a plethora of up an comer guitar players that exploded in the 80s. Definitely one of the greatest of all time in my opinion.
Maybe EVH isn’t considered the #1 guitarist, but a whole generation of us that grew up then thought he was the best ever. He single handedly changed the entire rock scene with his guitar chops similar to what Hendrix did the prior generation
Cannot deny. But my guys were Uli, Randy and Michael Schenker overall. Eddie had great swing and otherwordly chops though.
LATE 70S & 80S HE WAS THE BEST GUITAR 🎸 PLAYER
@@bladerunner6087 idk. there was Al Dimeola, Uli Roth, Shawn Lane, ton of incredible shredding mofos. It's more of what floats your boat.
Exactly. When "Runnin' With The Devil" and that whole album hit the airways in 1978, the entire hard rock game changed overnight. Others held the flame alive through the dark days of disco to be sure (Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Foreigner)...but VH began to fill arenas again for real hard rock, and those 4 guys (& their producers) ushered in a new era that paved the way for so many to follow. It was big back then, in a way I'm not sure today's younger generations can appreciate with regard to music history.
Randy was my guy. It is what it is. Ed was secondary to Randy for "my taste". It doesn't make Randy better, it's just taste. I've seen VH 8 times in concert and was there for the Roth reunion. I took my elderly dad who was 70 on Nov 1st 2007 to Washington D.C Verizon Center. Paid 800.00 for each ticket for the 5 star VIP package (1600.00) total. I will NEVER pay that for anyone else .... ever. This is Eddie fk'n Van Halen we are talking about. He deserved it. 125 tix sold out of an arena of 20k. We were front and center. We were let inside 3hrs before show time to hear soundcheck and Cathedral was magical. Empty arena, just Ed on stage. They split us into 3 groups (125 is a lot of people) and they took us down to the stage 1 group at a time. We had a stage tour, got to peak inside Ed's makeshift guitar "hut" (plywood) where his guitars are tuned and there was Frankenstrat. The original, first time on tour since the 80's. He walked down the row and shook everyone's hand and we had about 90 secs to say what we wanted to (lots of people to get through).I had my Ibanez RT650 in hand, and he shook my hand, I told him how much he changed my life with his music and asked him if would sign my guitar. He smiled at me and said "of course, I hope to spot you in the crowd tonight". 4hrs later, he did. I had a flip top phone and the pics I got by 2007 standards were awesome. I noticed people on my right side looking at me (towards my way) and couldn't figure out what was going on. My dad tapped my arm and said "look to your left". I did, and there was Valerie Bertinelli stand next to me with her new fiance (at the time) watching to support her son Wolf on bass. He was 16. Her eyes never left him no matter how many people were watching her. A true mom moment. This one night will FOREVER stay in my heart and my memories and yes, I still have the guitar and the amazing photos including ones of Val. Thank you Ed!
Eddie Van Halen is considered one of the greatest guitarists ever to play. He pioneered many new techniques and actually built his own guitar. Van Halen, the band, redefined rock from their very first album. My personal favorite song of theirs is Dance The Night Away. Well worth a listen. For a moment, I pictured you at the concert just getting lost in the music. Great reaction, Britt!
In those days when Fender put out a Stratocaster there was one type to choose from in different colors that’s it.
Fender never offered a Strat with a humbucker in it, only Gibson was using them.
That’s why Eddie bought the Boogie Body and neck and built his own Strat type guitar that he stuffed a Gibson humbucker in it…
Yes. Eddie built a Frankenguitar. Only way to meet his needs
Eddie van Halen is definitely ranked in the top 10. Most people rank Jimi Hendrix #1.
Saw them on the 1984 tour
Amazing energy
Dave has always been a great performer ... Not the best singer... Mike Anthony's backing vocals were invaluable to him ... Great way to end high school!
To be a Rocker is a state of mind. Walk to the beat of your own drum. Rip off the warning label ,put down the cellphone and live your azz off ...
the drummer and eddie are brothers
No doubt Eddie was the greatest inovator on guitar of all time!! He will be missed! RIP EVH
Eddie Van Halen is definitely in the Top 5 to 10 guitarist of all time. I think it is probably debatable as to who is the best, as everyone has a slightly different opinion. Eddie's contribution to the music/guitar world are numerous, but his use of two-handed tapping on the neck to play long pieces of music and his work on the actual guitar itself (he holds several patents) are his biggest contributions. There are tons of videos of famous guitarist talking about how they would plug into Ed's equipment, thinking they would sound like him, and they didn't. His guitar and amps were part of it, but the way he played the guitar was a big contribution to his sound (they way he picked, how hard, etc, etc big part of his sound).
Eddies son Wolfgang has his own band now called Mammoth which was the bands name before they changed it to Van Halen.
Edward Van Halen is one of the best guitarists ever, IMHO. He's a true game changer on the instrument and influenced countless players over the years. I'm glad I caught them 3x: 1981, 82 and 84. They put on a hell of a show and were one of the most exciting groups I'd ever seen live.
Dimebag Darrell from pantera was heavily influenced by Eddie van Halen who has been put in the greatest guitarist conversation as well
The jumps and kicks David Lee Roth exhibits are moves from martial arts. He and Elvis incorporated a lot of martial arts moves as kind of a way to 'practice' while on the road.
The two early Van Halen songs that first put them on the charts were covers but at the time they seemed pretty groundbreaking (I graduated in 1978 so this was on everybody's radar). They were, "Pretty Woman", a Roy Orbison song which they rocked up considerably and "You Really Got Me" by the Kinks.
I lived through it too and I would say they were running with the devil and you really got me. I don't think pretty women was a hit for them. I remember Eddie saying that it was as much effort to rewrite someone else's song it made less money so it wasn't worth the effort.
@@googpix540 It turns out that we're both half right. "You Really Got Me" was their first hit. I began playing in a band in 1979 and we covered Van Halen's version of that and "Pretty Woman" which is why both stick in my head.
I was a 77 grad! Those were the days! Were they not?!!!!!
Van Halen songs are the sort of music you can listen to over and over and keep discovering little surprises. Eddie is on many people's Mount Rushmore of great guitarists. Does some amazing stuff.
Reacting to Van Halen saying this is what rock and roll is supposed to be...Perfect.
We all knew it was a real party when Van Halen played. On Fire for sure!
“This is what rock and roll was meant to be”
You got that right you beautiful brit
Yes, this is rock and roll. Loved your reaction.
You may want to listen "Just a Giggalo" "Ice Cream Man" for some max David Lee Roth. "I Can't Drive 55" for Sammy Hagar.
This IS Rock-N-Roll. Their father played the clarinet on one of their tunes ‘Big Bad Bill Is Sweet William Now’. Eddie’s son also joined the band and played bass.
The greatest of all time will always be opinion but King Edward will always be the GOAT for me!
Probably my most favorite lyric in rock n roll, “… blue eyed murder in a size 5 dress.”
This tour was, by far, the band's greatest tour. All 4 guys were in their mid-20s at this time and in their ultimate prime. This album was also the first album recorded by the band that contained no cover songs.
This live video was intended to be a full length concert video, the band's first release of a live recording, to be released while the band took a break after the '81 tour. In the band's early years, they toured 10-11 months a year. By the time this tour took place Eddie Van Halen was ready to quit the band due to his relationship with Roth and just general burnout from their incredibly heavy touring schedule. However, numerous technical glitches during the filming of this Oakland show left only 3 usable songs (Unchained, So This IS Love, & Hear About It Later), all of which which were later compiled into a mini-concert video that was aired on MTV later that year. This live recording was the only video produced in support of the Fair Warning album.
And they never took that break either. The success of this tour motivated the record company to push the band right back into the studio to record new material almost as soon as this tour was over.
From the same concert....check out:
So this is love? And....
Here About it Later
Drummer is Alex Van Halen, Lead guitarist is Eddie Van Halen. Father is classically trained musician and the brothers were also classically trained. Pure genius!
Is that safe😂 nothing safe at a rock concert 😅 i was at the who concert in Cincinnati where a lot of kids was trampled to death that's where I met my late wife at😢
3:36--Ya hit it on the head, Britt-R & R's the rebel (And party) music for youth. So it made sense to play it loud, aggressive and tough. while making sure your live shows were as rowdy and energetic as you could be!!
hes noted as ONE of the best no matter whos list you look on , altho those lists are FULL of GREAT guitarists and who you pick as "greatest" largely depends on what style you like , but eddie was also undoubtedly one of the most revolutionary guitarists too , hes influenced generations of young guitar players
Eddie is definitely in the top 10 of anyone's guitarist list, it's so subjective as to who is the best, but many have put Eddie at the top...as far as a pure rock sound, I agree with you that they have it, they have great chemistry and love to put on a show!
Other guitarists came along who could play circles around Eddie.....but NOBODY could write better rock jams than Eddie Van Halen!!
In the studio version, during that breakdown, lead vocalist David Lee Roth picks on the producer for the suit he's wearing. The producer says c'mon Dave gimmie a break"...and Roth replies "alright one break coming up" lol
Edward Van Halen on guitar.
His older brother Alex Van Halen on drums.
Van Halen is a Dutch last name. Dutch as in The Netherlands.
It’s authentic music . No lip syncing here . Totally live free for all music . Not like todays music scene
This Band ruled hard rock from "78" until "85". Nobody even came close. After that, they became a pop band. I saw them live so many times in those years. I hope I never recover!
I don't think the Hagar years were pop music. If you listen to any of the deep cuts on those albums they rival anything the Roth years had, but with more sophistication. Both eras are great and I thank them all for the music they gave.
@@anakina1 There is only one era...the Roth era. The other "era" was a complete embarassment.
@joededominici681 calm down
Van Halen WERE the supreme realization of what a rock band was supposed to be. There's every other band, and then Van Halen standing alone above them all. They were all the best at what they did. Nobody could touch them.
Love this band, love both versions of lead singers. Definitely would suggest checking out more of them. I know you like live versions, there's the eruption solo from 86 that's well known also try Best of Both Worlds to see them with Hagar as lead.
More live Van Halen with David Lee Roth please !! Great reaction thanks
David Lee Roth was very well known for his acrobatic moves and he did it so well because he was a 10th degree black belt. Definitely check out some of his solo stuff 👍 . Also, an equally talented and arguably better guitar player is Steve Via which teamed up with Roth during his solo career. I highly recommend checking some of his solo stuff as well 👍. Maybe start with "Tender Surrender" love your reactions keep up the good work
bippity boppity
You're Absolutely Right, And Highly Original Vanhalen . . . Band . Larry Hernandez
The Fair Warning tour (aka W.D.F.A. Tour aka we don't f#%k around) 1981. Caught this tour in Seattle. Still my favorite Van Halen concert. . .
Lovely young lady listening to my era of Rock...I love it!
Enjoy The journey......You should listen to The David Lee Roth era of Van Halen in its entirety .....Diver Down was their 'worst' album and even that wasn't bad...it just wasn't my fav..
You should listen to Boston (band) ....You should listen to Styx, you should listen to Queen...you should listen to Foreigner (early stuff)......Ted Nugent has some great songs (even if he is a bit whacky in ways) ....You should listen to Cheap Trick...you should listen to Foghat...You should listen to Edgar Winter Band...You should listen to Free (band)...You should listen to BadFinger, you should listen to Bad Company..
So many good bands and songs in the 70s (that aren't disco) ...
My very first concert ever was these guys in 1984. They were at the height of their DLR era. This was the very fist song they played, Dave did the split kicks off the risers in front of the drums, it was amazing.
Same here...1984...the year I graduated high school and the year we're living in now, Orwell style.
I wouldn't say he's the best guitarist ever but he did create a lot of new techniques. In his time he was considered one of the best.
EVH is definitely up there with the best guitar players, personally I prefer Ritchie Blackmore and Michael Schenker
Ok..anytime someone reacts to this or "so This Is Love" I have to put this up..This is my very first concert ever Oakland, Ca. 1981. I was 12! It was on heavy rotation on early MTV. I'd go ape shit every time, still do.
Entire band was super-talented both musically and vocally. In addition, they put on a great show, one of the best overall bands ever! David Lee Roth might be the best frontman in history.
As far as the athleticism, Roth was a black belt in martial arts.
You are listening to Van Halen a Rock-N-Roll Band of the highest order! The Brothers that are in question are Alex Van Halen who is a musician playing Drums and Edward Van Halen who a musician playing guitar and yes he is rather talented and outstanding to state it lightly………..🎸 Enjoy!
The singer David Lee Roth is a performer, but horrible singing in concert. Forgets lyric and awkwardly attempts to sing, but is fun to watch
Lol..Love that you want Dave's pants & boots. I guarantee that he would've had a spicy retort! Woo Hoo! Absolutely, Hard Rock at its finest! King Edward is indeed one of the most: innovative, influential, virtuoso, creative song writer, blistering speed demon, you get the idea! So fun! Thank you, this rabid VH fan loved your reaction!
You’ve said you grew up listening to Michael Jackson more than Prince. Interesting fact Eddie played the guitar in the song Beat It, which was amazing!
Yes Britt. Eddie Van Valen is considered the greatest gutairist of all time in many circles. Especially experienced musician circles
there is another van halen,WOLFGANG..its Eddies son and he keeps up the legacy very well.
Rock and Roll is the adult version of 10 year olds acting out. Rock and Roll is 12 kids at Grandma's for Christmas, with their new toys, after all the sugar.
You grew up at the WRONG TIME Baby. There will NEVER be another 70's/80's musical OR LIFE experience. I'm sorry. I REALLY am.
David Lee Roth was a show by himself. Add Eddie's guitar and you have a legendry iconic rock band.
I feel stupid by commenting. The Van Halen brothers Guitar and drummer. =VH=
You need to listen to their songs "Mean Streets" and "Icecream man" and Eddie's favorite song of theirs "Legs". Listen to their songs like "5150" or "Poundcake". They are some incredible songs. For every Van Halen fan when Eddie died we all knew that what we had lived through was gone forever and it was not ever going to return. At least we are left with Eddie's insanely incredible music to listen to for as long as we have ears that we can hear music with.
Growing up, Van Halen was the ultimate summer music and one of the only bands that were able to make the lead singer change, but remain just as good as the original. I know I’ll get some backlash probably off that, but the music they made with Sammy Hagar was just as good to me as with David although their personalities were different, I think that was the only difference for me.
I maintain that the song and video from "Right Now" is incredibly powerful, pertinent, and poignant, and the most important song they wrote. And this is a MUST to watch the video. There is so much added with the visuals that it's almost a different song without it.
No backlash here. Both versions were great. DLR was more 'showman', but SH brought another great guitar.
I like DLR better but Sammy was far from bad
Sammy is a great singer. But Van Halen sucked when he was in the band.
I'm a huge DLR fan, but liked the Sammy version as well.
Yes Eddie is one of the best guitar 🎸 players ever ❤
I grew up with this music and many more heavy bands like this in South Africa in my school years and all I can say is it fucking Rocks 😂.
You might like checking out his Son. WVH
(Wolfgang) his Band is (Mammoth WVH) named for his father's first band,. His videos are very entertaining. He plays every instrument and his tribute song to his dad Eddie is difficult to to not shed tears.. We all miss you Eddie!
Love your reaction as usual. You should check out Stevie Ray Vaughn Texas Flood to see and hear the greatest guitar hero.
Van Halen runs in the tradition of similarly critical and over the top bands styles that accompanied instrument mastery... also from California... principally The Tubes (with some Frank Zappa).... The Tubes song "White Punks on Dope" really shows this.
"This what rock n roll is supposed to be." 100% spot on anslysis! No band in the late 70s, early 80s, could match the mighty Van Halen! Diamond David Lee Roth was the quintessential front man. Their live shows were legendary. Were the songs played perfectly? No. But it was such a party.

Lead singer, David Lee Roth was the ROCK STAR!!!!
David Lee Roth was so much like Jim '' Dandy' Mangrum of Black Oak Arkansas with his stage presence . If you are familiar with that band ,you know what I mean
"I was sittin' on a mountain top. 30 thousand feet to drop . . . "
@@sidviscous5959 Go Jim Dandy
David Lee Roth is the original Vocalist and he is very athletic and also studied ballet. This band is Van Halen and there is no other Van Halen. Absolutely the best at what what they did and what they did was Van Halen(ing).
Their self-titled debut album is one of the great debut albums in rock history. Boston also belongs in that category. I saw Van Halen a number of times but my favorite was probably in the late 70s in junior high when I saw them in a fairly small indoor arena in downtown Wichita. I think the capacity was about 3,500 people. It was around the 4th of July and it was so incredibly hot and then you pack all those people into a small place with all that energy and it was sweltering but nobody cared. There was just so much energy. It was amazing. People were even shooting bottle rockets off inside and they were flying around everywhere and exploding. And back then people would literally bring in fifths of whiskey and all kinds of other things.
We did. We somehow got 6th row tickets to this tour’s show at Reunion Arena in Dallas. They had the first 10 rows roped off, and inside the ropes you were free to walk up to the stage. We were 16, David Lee Roth took a drink from our fifth of Jack Daniel’s Black, and we peed under the stage, knowing we’d never get back there if we left. I’ll never forget.
Blonde gentleman is David Lee Roth Drummer is alex van halen guitarist is eddie van halen.
Get the album “Fair Warning” and listen to the studio version of Unchained. Put it on a turn table, no CD or download. Crank the volume, this song seriously rocks.
I miss the hiss and pop n crackle from many records being played over an over, slightly worn, just added character
He's one of the best guitarist ever. David Lee Roth is like ADHD on steroids 😂
I say he was the GOAT of guitar... especially in rock ❤ RIP
EVH sold so many guitars through his playing alone!!
THE MIGHTY VAN HALEN WAS ONE OF THE BEST LIVE BANDS IN HISTORY !
Eddie played the guitar solo on Michael Jackson beat it.
The Van Halen brothers are Eddie on guitar and Alex on drums.
You said it baby, THAT'S Rock And Roll.
Eddie is in the Greatest List. But, the #1 is Stevie Ray Vaughn.
My opinion, he is the best guitarist there’s a lot of great ones out there with their old style. He was voted in Rolling Stone magazine as the best guitarist. I forgot what years that was but he’s definitely one of the reasons for inspiration for other great guitars that came in after him. He makes it look so easy rest in peace Eddie.
If you haven't done it yet, you gotta do Eddie's ERUPTION solo from LIVE WITHOUT A NET. 13 Minutes of Guitar wizardry. There's Hendrix & Van Halen, and then everyone else. Maybe you could add SRV to the other two as the most influential guitarists ever.
Yes Eddie Van Halen was one of the best guitarist in the world 🌎
Van Halen Dreams!!!!!!! ✌️🏴
What bands are there that are named after a member that doesn't also sing lead vocals?
I can think of two
Van Halen (Eddie Van Halen on guitar and Alex Van Halen on drums)
MSG / Michael Schenker Group (Michael Schenker on guitar)
Yngwie Malmsteen is mostly known for playing guitar but he also sings lead vocals
Going way back The Dave Clark 5. Dave Clark was the drummer.
He changed the way people play for sure, and nobody except MAYBE Nuno Bettencourt has been able to replicate his style and sound
RIP Eddie….Cancer Sucks!
My all time favorite song from my all time favorite band 😀 ❤
