Like you said, it is so convenient, affordable, with no recoil, and no noise to shoot 22LR, and dialing the scope and shooting small targets at distance is a blast!
I have the Bergara HMR B14 in 308 and was very happy to pick up the B14r. Still waiting on the 20moa rail, looking forward to getting it out on the range. Great video as usual, thanks for all the time and energy you put into them.

Always enjoy watching. Don't use a center fire can that can't be disassembled to be cleaned. 22lr is very dirty and will quickly foul up the baffles. Get yourself a dedicated rimfire can or build one yourself since you have the equipment to do it. That way you can take it apart and clean it.
Hi Gavin, I love your videos. Very informative. I plan on buying this rifle and your video helps alot. I was surprised that no one mentioned you dry firing this rifle without an empty case in the chamber. I was taught to never dry fire a 22LR with out an empty case in the chamber. Thanks
Got one with a steel barrel, custom Grayboe Ridgeback stock, Area419 30MOA scope rail, and a Q Erector can. This beast is super accurate and a blast to shoot. I've taken it to 300 yards impressibly with the Lapua and SK Long Range ammo.
@@dbeardsley0 I just picked up a BXR and it is absolutely awesome! It's my second Bergara and the quality you get from them is way beyond the price you pay. This B-14R is next on my list!
Great job son!!! I was at the range today and it was too hot to shoot our bench rifles. So lets get some trigger time with our 22's. Same basic principles as our more powerful rifles, but without, as you said in this video, the time reloading, the costs, and attention to details we take on as precision shooters. " Lets just have some fun." It was hot, we have to deal with mirage, there is wind, another factor we face on the bench. I am honing my skills reading wind and mirage at 10cts a round. I shot 15 rounds of 5. Some better than others, but the wind settled and the mirage was removed by a big fluffy cloud and I settled behind the 30 power scope and shot a .0037 5 shot group. I have one! Im really happy with it! It has really good accuracy with the 9 diffrent match ammos i tride so far. Norma match / tac 22 goes perfect, Eley standard plus realy nice, Eley high vel and Cci mini mag has a bit more spreaded groups but still very good att 100 meters. It only takes mach ammo. With Cci Stinger or Norma Extream its not possible to close the bolt as they are not match ammos.

I have the steel barreled Bergara B-14R and use it for NRL 22 compatition. Love it!!! 330 yard is the furthest I've shoot it so far. They are great guns.
Take my money! Never been into rimfire stuff. But with the time and money involved in every round of 6.5c And the similarity of this rifle to my rifle I finally get it. Being able to practice the fundamentals of shooting (most important thing I’m after at the range now that my hand loads are dialed in to an almost boring degree of consistency) without the cost and reloading bench time, not to mention barrel wear, I’m sold. Now to sell my wife on a $2k+ setup (if I can find a good deal on glass. Want to use the same as on my 6.5 hmr. Overkill, but gives me more time with the glass) that she’ll see as the same as my current rifle!! For you guys on the fence about getting the full size hmr...stop thinking about it and go get one. All I did was a little bit of lug lapping (factory still had about 40% contact, only took 20 or so strokes to get about 90%) and tune the ammo I feed her. Getting ~1/4 moa at 100, 3/8 at 300, and 1/2 at 500. The apparent accuracy loss at longer range is 100% me, not the rifle. I’m sure it can do even better in the right hands, hence why I’d love to get my hands on that 22 to give my rifle the shooter she deserves :)

I have one in 22mag, 5oz jard trigger, 20moa rail, precision armaments muzzle brake, burris signature rings and vortex strike eagle 5-25x56 scope. I have rings set to 0 moa in the back and +5 moa in the front so at 100 yards I am close to the center of the scope(45 moa) and add 21 moa to go to 300 yards. I put on a longer bolt handle and ordered a bolt shroud. :Polished bolt shank, bolt ramp, firing pin and where shank meets bolt head. I did have to wear the bolt lugs into the reciever for good contact(small amount of valve grinding compound), clean, noloax electrical compound(kinda slick paste with some grit in it), clean it, then gun oil. I love it. I didn't need a better 22lr......I already have a tikka and a tikka 17hmr too.
I have one of these B14r rifles and I am very well pleased with it. Mine has tge steel barrel, so is quite a bit heavier. This is an excellent trainer for my B14 HMR in 6.5 Creedmore. I have Trigger Tech triggers on both.
Fantastic video, rimfire rifles are getting to be super popular and competition shooting with rimfire is also on the rise, that's why I'm building my own Winchester super mag rifle.🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👍
Thanks for the very informative video. I ordered a B-14r after evaluating this and similar reviews. It is now at my FFL. I'll pick it up tomorrow and will add the rail and bi-pod mount adapter then mount my scope. After cleaning and lubing it, I'll wring it out at the range. Don't mind the trolls. It's always easier to denigrate someone else's efforts than accomplish something yourself.
I'm planning on purchasing the Bergara B-14 HMR in 6.5 Creedmore in the near future. It would be great if Bergara made a conversion kit to swap the .22LR into the 6.5C. I already have the CMMG conversion that swaps into a .223 AR.
From Silencerco website: “This is a full-auto rated suppressor that offers fairly broad caliber compatibility. It can be used with rifle calibers ranging from 223 Remington to 300 Winchester Magnum, meaning it’s likely going to work with the rifles you have on hand. It’s important to be aware this isn’t a rimfire suppressor and it also isn’t recommended that you use lead projectiles with it”
I bought a used one, $800. I attached a NF NXS 3.5-15 x 50 SFP Scope with MOAR reticle along with a 6-9 inch swivel Harris Bipod. I do not know the trigger pull weight but I perceive it’s about 3 lbs and I have no problem pulling it smoothly. The length of pull was too long for a muscularly relaxed bench position so I removed two butt stock spacers and I may remove another as I find I am riding the cheek piece for a proper eyeball to scope eyebox relationship with scope at proper position for firing from all positions. At any rate, shooting CCI Competition Ammunition I am getting.3 inch 5 shot groups at 50 yards and my come up for 100 yard shooting is about 6 MOA. At 100 yards groups are in the 1.5 MOA arena but that will likely drop to sub MOA now that I know the MOA wind constant is 10 at a hundred yards. That means a crosswind raising dust and blowing loose paper will displace the bullet about an inch at 100 yards. Readers here should use this formula: distance to target in yards divided by 100 times wind value in mph divided by constant of 10 equals MOA of favor. Just remember to treat quartering winds as half value. BTW, I think this rifle is ideal for NRA Long-Range Competition practice at the 100 yard line shooting at a 4.4 inch bull cut down to that diameter from an MR-31 target. From analysis of bullet placement on such a target the shooter could easy appraise marksmanship errors and their solutions to develop the sort of skills needed for long range success. What could be better than that?
That is a sweet little rifle. It shoots great! I shoot the SK match and Standard Plus in my TikkaT1x, both shoot great. My next purchase for it is a Thunder Beast suppressor.
Cheers mate, great informative review. I've just ordered one of these here in Australia, looking forward to spending some range time with it. I have the B14HMR in 6.5CM, and it performs exceptionally well, especially being an off the shelf rifle.
I shoot a CZ-455 for NRL22 and ELR(to 540y w/adjustable base of 72 mils). I cannot justified a Voodoo to myself, so I was considering a B14(have one in 300PRC that shoots great), but I have to say I am not impressed with 1" groups at 100y. Maybe it was the wind at your range, but Center-X in my rifle is sub-moa at 100 all day. I'll keep watching, maybe you change my mind. ;)
Hey Gavin, I’m sure you’ve heard of the Neil Waltz 22lr reshaping die that works on a standard reloading press, it seems like a very cool idea, right up your alley. I began reloading couple years ago and you’ve been a big part of my success. Thank you very much.
I use a SAK suppressor on my 22, i'm a Metal/Rock Drummer. I take great care bout my ears. I also use a SAI Evolution2 on my 222. I still use ear protection while using these two monocore moderators. Regards from France! (Can't wait to get one for my 243 too) 🖖🏻🇫🇷😎🇫🇷🤪🇫🇷🖖🏻
@@Matt-zn4zp SilencerCo says the build up of lead is dangerous and can not be efficiently cleaned, They do make a suppressor that is specifically designed to handle 22 rimfire. I would call them and ask them for their advise on what to do.
I have discovered supersonic ammo and a barrel tuner is amazing! No more flyers and you can reach out further with sub sonic type ammo results. Game changer. Smashing gophers at 190 meters all day long
Yes! Thank you Gavin! Finally some 22LR content 😁 I have been using my RPRR 22LR as a trainer for my RPR 308 Winchester, and testing multiple brands of ammo to find what it likes. Stock configuration seems to favor CCI standard velocity. Even when compared to federal gold metal match. Go figure. The Begara is a perfect match for a Remington 700, and from the looks of it, a fantastic shooter. Can't wait to see what will be comming!
I enjoy the videos you put out, a lot of useful information and very well done. I just want to touch on something you said about the Bergara B14 R, the shim, as also supplied with the center-fire rifles, is to compensate for the dimension discrepancies from one mount to another, therefore NOT putting any unnecessary torque on the main tube of your scope and in the process, bending and damaging the scope tube, it is NOT to give you MOA in the scope mount. Dave & The Girls
I have the CZ 457 Trainer, with Trijicon glass. It too likes SK Standard Plus, SK Match, and Lapua Match. Although the CZ Trainer is excellent, I think the reduced weight of the Bergara B-14 Trainer would be of benefit, as well as the action stroke, and trigger pulse, possibly improving muscle memory. Especially if you have a short action center fire with the same stock, and trigger. Good video! Thank you
Great video as usual, I think you put it over the top for me and I just can’t afford a vudoo v22. Really want the 700 platform so it’s this or the rem x and i just can’t seem to find a barreled action. Bergara it is and I’ve always wanted one in something anyway lol
When you were working the bolt you commented very nice. My question is nice how. Nice to say ease of use? Or nice in the since of good fitment? Elaborate please.
You do a real nice job filming, I have to compliment you on that, and what a great back drop... real nice. Unfortunately I absolutely disagree with your comment on balance because it is exactly not balanced, especially as PRS practice rifle. Test it on a barricade and it will fall off. Bergara is missing the boat on this as well as Vudoo with short and light barrels when we need the opposite. 22LR guys like the short barrels because they are easy to move, but they are hurting the intent of training for center fire with a 26 inch barrel. These 22 trainers should all be available with 24 inch MTU barrels. Actually RimX does have an option for a 24 inch MTU, but the action needs the feed issues to be resolved with a moving extractor.
Need more options for this perfect platform. Need all the rimfire cartridges commercially available to small centerfire from hornet to 221 fireball sized case. Available with interchangeable barrels and bolt.
I’ve always heard rimfire carbon up the suppressors more then a centerfire. So does it clean out when running centerfire through it again? In my mind I’d think it doesn’t. Do you keep a weight record and plan to send it off to clean when you get a few ounces of carbon build up?
Yes they clean perfectly. RUclips cleaning suppressor. I did but use a mask gloves. It’s save and easy. I have the bull barrel on my Bergara b14r. And my Bergara 6.5 creedmoor both are awesome rifles. 👍🏻
How is the safety in this? I just got one and going from fire to safe is fine but with the bolt closed it takes about 4x the force to go back to fire. If the bolt is open there is no problem.
Gaven, have you seen those old copper cased rimfire big bore cartridges like 56-56 Spencer, and do you think its possible to make dies to swage copper sheet into copper rimfire blackpowder cartridges?
How exactley do you go about buying these? I want a b-14 wilderness HMR but it’s not listed in their rifles page in there store. But it is on their website
Any thoughts on accuracy differences between the carbon barrel you tested and the steel. For long range competitions I'd rather have the weight of steel (plus save a few bucks!)
Just getting into precision rimfire shooting, I kinda rushed into it buying the Ruger RPRR and find myself wishing I bought the B14-R instead.... Since shooting in a few NRL22 competitions I've learned a little about the top shelf Vudoo rifle and I'm just curious how the Bergara competes against that rifle, any experience shooting/comparing those two rifles???
Does the bolt allow for the same bolt travel of a center fire rifle? I have seen guys short stroke the bolt in matches because they developed a training scar from the short travel in the rimfire bolt.
Gavin i am going to start shooting into PRS .22 matches. What rifle/combination do you suggest? Here in Italy we might not have all the possibilities you have in US...but Bergara B14 was an option i was evaluating together a Ruger RPR or a Tikka. Thanks for your wisdom here.
A couple shooters traded their RPRs in for Bergaras with great results. I'm considering the same move but trying a new trigger first. Was hitting out to 330yds on 6" plate on Saturday using Wolf Match Extra with my RPR. 3 hits in a row wasn't too difficult to do.
I have been looking at this rifle and checking out this and other presentations. I'll keep looking though as I've seen similar results with my old 452 using sk standard...not quite as precise but close. Only thing is, the bug keeps wanting more precision.
If someone is shooting a match with say 6.5 Creedmoor (PRS for example) they will frequently train with a 223 (or similar) that's more economical and doesn't burn up the match barrel, components, etc.
I would like to see a detailed video on the disassembly of this bolt. Bergara's manual state's it should be taken apart and cleaned every 200 rounds yet there are no instructions on how to do this. I just bought the carbon fiber model also they fail to tell you that they re-did the recoil lug. I found this out the hard way buying a rail that wouldn't allow the bolt to cycle. I email Bergara here is their answer, "That is due to the built in recoil lug, the B14R does not have the same ejection port cut out as a standard Remington 700. You need a rail without a recoil lug.
I have one question, I’m in the market for either the b14r trainer or the cz457 varmint mtr, in this video you said the b14 came with the scope pic rail, but the gun shops are telling me they do not come with!
@@mamu679 I actually bought the b14r and absolutely love it, then I went ahead and got the cz457 varmint mtr with manners stock which I also love , can say nothing negative about the b14 at all. But the only complaint I have with the cz is the manners stock, it’s going into a chassis as soon as it arrives. Other than that both rifles are top shelf!!!!!! No regrets
@@22lr_plinking Thank you for the detailed reply. I'm looking for an accurate .22 rifle that I can shoot nicely indoor at 100 yards. I have to admit that I am torn on whether to buy a CZ 457 LPR or the B14R. The B14R is about 33% more expensive here in Germany, but still within my budget. Availability is currently a problem here in Europe, as the Ukrainians buy all the weapons and ammunition they can get. Fortunately both are available, the CZ also in black. I just want the rifle of the two that shoots best at 50 yards and 100 yards. Given you the choice, for which would you decide?
@@mamu679 at 50yards they both shoot .18-.20 groups with sk standard plus as well as Norma tac22, and Cci standard velocity, At 100yrds I can easily get .50” groups repeatedly with sk rifle match with the cz the b14 r is right there also. If you do go cz I would recommend that you avoid the manners stock , area 419 offers a cz457 from their custom shop with a beautiful wooden stock same ballpark price too.
Lapua owns and produces SK and other ammo companies they all use the same production facility and when they test batches if the test doesn’t pass Lapua standards they are handed down to SK if they don’t pass the SK tests for their quality control it is sent to the next company. That’s why when you look at Lapua Midas+ and SK Match they are identical

My 14R should be here soon, and was just about to order a rail, would rather not spend on return shipping if i dont need to haha Cant wait to wring this thing out, looks like an awesome package.
I'd like to know this as well. When he takes the rifle out of the box, the 30MOA rail is already attached. The full sized HRM's do come with a rail. It's not clear that the rimfire HRM comes with a rail on the Bergara web site.
@@agracer1000 Mine did not come with a rail. Seems like maybe he got this from the factory as a test rifle, a lot of the guys that did all seemed to get the Bergara rail. Went with the EGW 30moa

Cheers mate, great informative review. I've just ordered one of these here in Australia, looking forward to spending some range time with it. I have the B14HMR in 6.5CM, and it performs exceptionally well, especially being an off the shelf rifle.
I love your 100yrd range. Really nice gun
Thanks Matt!!!
Perfect.. I also built a 22lr for training. It’s so much fun for hardly any effort.I do need to get a can for mine, that looks and sounds good
Beautiful Presentation & Review. Thank you 🍻. Definitely a beautiful set up that I will mimic.
I own a Neil Waltz die it works great
I use a SAK suppressor on my 22, i'm a Metal/Rock Drummer. I take great care bout my ears.
I also use a SAI Evolution2 on my 222. I still use ear protection while using these two monocore moderators.
Regards from France! (Can't wait to get one for my 243 too)

Gavin, Just a heads up from one Omega 300 owner to another. Silencerco does not recommend you run lead 22 bullets though your suppressor.
JOHN SIMONELLI I’m still waiting on my Omega 300...I was wondering about that....could you use cleaners? Shoot out build up on bigger calibers?
@@Matt-zn4zp SilencerCo says the build up of lead is dangerous and can not be efficiently cleaned, They do make a suppressor that is specifically designed to handle 22 rimfire. I would call them and ask them for their advise on what to do.
I have discovered supersonic ammo and a barrel tuner is amazing! No more flyers and you can reach out further with sub sonic type ammo results. Game changer. Smashing gophers at 190 meters all day long
Just picked up a bmr in 17 hmr I like bergara rifles the shoot great 😊
Thanks for the review. Sweet set up!
Soooooooo fun to shoot this thing!
Yeah I want to try one
Awesome. Lucky you got one quick
just ordered one last week ; almost same setup but no suppressor as I live in Canada :)
can hardly wait to get it out to range
thanks for ammo info
Dang that forth shot got picked up by the wind you can hear it with headphones on. That is crazy good results.
Just got the B14 HMR in 6.5 Creed.... I WANT ONE
I absolutely love my b14r just wish I could find more mags
Great video. Appreciate the content you consistently put out. I am looking to add a Bergara 22LR very soon.
Gavin have you thought about testing the B14-R adding an EC tuner V2 instead of using the can to see if the group size will tighten up?
My old TC benchmark semi auto throws 1/2 to 5/8 groups all day long at 100 yds
I tried the SK ammo in my .22 the other day, worked really well and just shot ragged holes at 50 meters all day long.
Sk makes some great ammo, they have a nice variety and it all shoots good.
B14-R..... For the man who thought he had everything haha
Good video! Thank you
Cool rifle, would love to see it go up against the t1x upr, the Bergara is probably a bit heavy for the majority of my scoped 22lr shooting.
Most beautiful shooting range I’ve ever seen! I bet it gets a bit windy up there?
Really cool rifle as a trainer. Since I do more hunting/pest control, I would much prefer a 17 hmr. Hopefully they will make it in 17 hmr sometime.
Begara the 17 is in the works this rifle is selling so fast begara hit a home run. Glad I took a chance on one. 👍🏻
Got the B14-R on the way. Nice review.
Thank you for such detailed re view.I want to get one but everyone I find does not bring the scope rail..How do you order one with it?
That is a nice rifle
I have the 6.5 creedmoor in Bergara a and I really like it but I think I'll get the trainer too.
Geekus Maximus on the trigger pull tester!
Definitely want a 22 Like this. But do I spend and get a rimx or vudoo or a ultimatiumprecision duece
You can’t go wrong with any of the 3. They should call them the big 3. Rimxxx voodoo. Bergara b14r. 👍🏻
Thanks for video... Buddy!
like! Hopefully the finance committee agrees and approves.
Great video as usual, I think you put it over the top for me and I just can’t afford a vudoo v22. Really want the 700 platform so it’s this or the rem x and i just can’t seem to find a barreled action. Bergara it is and I’ve always wanted one in something anyway lol
I just bought one. Any recommendations?
Thanks
Ernesto
Beautiful scenery in witch state are you shooting ?
Very good review
How would you compare this out of the box to the Lithgow Arms LA101 or the CZ-USA 455 precision Trainer?
What area is that range? I'm from IL and love mountains and that area is stunning.
I’ve always heard rimfire carbon up the suppressors more then a centerfire. So does it clean out when running centerfire through it again? In my mind I’d think it doesn’t. Do you keep a weight record and plan to send it off to clean when you get a few ounces of carbon build up?
Centerfire will clean it out provided you do it every so often and not let it foul too bad.
Yes they clean perfectly. RUclips cleaning suppressor. I did but use a mask gloves. It’s save and easy. I have the bull barrel on my Bergara b14r. And my Bergara 6.5 creedmoor both are awesome rifles. 👍🏻
Love my B14 22
How is the safety in this? I just got one and going from fire to safe is fine but with the bolt closed it takes about 4x the force to go back to fire. If the bolt is open there is no problem.
I am looking for either the Bergara or the Tikka .22 Not sure which one yet. Neither come in Left Hand.
Gaven, have you seen those old copper cased rimfire big bore cartridges like 56-56 Spencer, and do you think its possible to make dies to swage copper sheet into copper rimfire blackpowder cartridges?
Any chance you guys will try reloading 22lr for precision rimfire? Specifically Cutting edge bullets CuRx 22lr
How exactley do you go about buying these? I want a b-14 wilderness HMR but it’s not listed in their rifles page in there store. But it is on their website
Really like the looks of this gun.
Any thoughts on accuracy differences between the carbon barrel you tested and the steel. For long range competitions I'd rather have the weight of steel (plus save a few bucks!)
Great video Would love to see a video with the kyl rack when you get it.
That rifle is very nice. Great review. Question. How does the glass on the Athlon Midas Tac compare to the Leupold Mark 5? No comparison? Thanks
Check sniperhide for the pics of what the barrel is like under the carbon tube. It's built like an airsoft gun.
can't find the pic's
Very good test 😃bro can you write the part number of the suppressor please?
🔥🔥🔥
Other than price is their a benefit for using 22lr over say 17hmr or 17wsm as a rimfire trainer catridge?
I have been looking at this rifle and checking out this and other presentations. I'll keep looking though as I've seen similar results with my old 452 using sk standard...not quite as precise but close. Only thing is, the bug keeps wanting more precision.
Did you finally buy one?
Shooting .22 LR through a non-user serviceable can - bold strategy!
Sonic cleaner let's pray
Just shoot center fire through it every so often, it’ll clean itself.
I wonder what it would do if you soaked it in something like B-12 chemtool ?
Which sunshade did you put on your athlon Midas? I have this same rifle / scope set-up but need a sunshade.
did you have any FTE with this rifle?
I have seen that Bergara sells a stainless B14 rimfire action. Does anyone know how it compares to the complete B14r in an accuracy dual?
Pardon my ignorance, but what is a "trainer gun"?
If someone is shooting a match with say 6.5 Creedmoor (PRS for example) they will frequently train with a 223 (or similar) that's more economical and doesn't burn up the match barrel, components, etc.
@Ultimatereloader Thanks.
Which one did you finally buy?
Would it be safe to shoot 22shorts as long as they were single loaded one at a time by hand? or is the head spacing to much of an issue? Thx
Does this definitely come with the 30moa rail? Could swear ive seen many people say it comes with nothing and dont see anything mentioned in the listings. My 14R should be here soon, and was just about to order a rail, would rather not spend on return shipping if i dont need to haha
Cant wait to wring this thing out, looks like an awesome package.
Just think how much ammo for your primary rifle you could load or buy for the price of that trainer rifle and glass
