Dear sir,, would you please explain what all the steps mean when the guards are dismounting their beautiful horses? Like, the "popping/tapping,," "slapping", some might say, on the horses neck, then rump? I know it's maybe something of one soldier saying to another, "job well done!" Is that sort of, correct? I love all things England. Have since I was 11 and watched the original Parent Trap w Hayley Mills. Middle aged, now. Love your informative videos! Thank you!! Hope you have an amazing day!! From USA
Also, are the mounted guards in the boxes at night? And, I know the horses wear shoes. Is there something on the guards boots that makes them "clop" a little louder? And what is the meaning of it when they slam/stomp the boot down a little harder? Thank you!! I love England and have such a curious mind. Hope you have a wonderful day!!
It's a well known fact that Horses love mints which are fine. Someone made a comment years ago which hit home to me and I still remember - You wouldn't grab a steering wheel if someone was in charge of a car.
I’m glad the guard came over and told them to get down they don’t belong standing like that they should have more respect they wouldn’t do that at home on their own furniture or property. Don’t do it when you’re away so disrespectful and the parents let them go up.😢😢
I expect that they stand on the furniture at home as they are not taught manners. It's not the children's fault. Blame the parents who are frightened of disciplining their kids.
@@joannamorgan6911 yes you’re right if the parents allowed it at home they’ll do it wherever they are when they’re not home I know if that was me as a child and I tried that I would’ve gotten my backside swatted in public or not. My parents expected us kids to behave and act appropriately when not home, and then when we are home you behave do what you’re told
Afternoon John , that was sweet of elderly gentleman giving mints to the horse. Horses can tell kind souls and kindness of people. There's no need to act stupid by grabbing the reins old enough to know better
I love waiting for your new videos, 1. Because they are always informative 2. They are always titled with top notch descriptive words!! I am still in disbelief how so many people STILL grab the reins!!! It must be brutal for the guards to keep screaming at the stupid and illiterate. Thanks for another great one❤❤❤
Good morning friends across the pond. Looks like you already have a huge crowd today. Gonna be hot in GA, USA, summer is here. Enjoy the video. I know I will. Thank you John. 🎉
I bet it took a bit of adjustment from queens guard to Kings thank you to all armed forces for everything you do to keep our freedom, thank you to the police for watching over their safety.

Good morning from the Canadian prairies. 😊 Thank you for your work, John. I love seeing the horses (and guards), and have become addicted to this channel in particular after having watched one or two videos, now I search them out to relax. Enjoy your day.
Now the horses being fed mints, is that not something Queen Elizabeth used to do with her horses so may be a nod to the queen xxx Edit So I had to read up on it and yes the Queen did feed her horses mints and it was caught on camera at the Britain’s racing school where she fed mints to a retired horse on its 40th anniversary in New Newmarket. Lucky horse xxx
Great finale to your video with the Gatesman shouting "Make Way." The gentleman feeding polo mints to the horse after asking permission was lovely to watch. Out of interest, did he ask the Boxman the name of her horse?
I think if you took a pole or a vote that people would say that The horse guards should shout at them. This is absolutely ridiculous.I hope they bring that back. And in fact, if you've got some that persistence, the police should come and say that's it.Get away you lose your chance at getting a picture because this is just so disrespectful
I love your videos. And I really like that the gentleman asked permission before feeding the horse, but I think it's a bad idea to let any member of the public do it. After all, you have no idea what they're giving the horse. It could be bad for them. Just my two cents from New Jersey, USA.
Well, when the guards quit shouting 'GET OFF THE REINS!' people will keep holding them. The ONLY GUARD THAT WON'T PUT UP WITH THAT 💩IS THE BLACK GUARD IN THE BLUES & ROYALS. I love that he has NOT given up HIS voice and uses it quite LOUDLY!! Nobody messes with him, just like they didn't mess with Guard/Trooper Creo, sad to see he is no longer a horse guard.

The end was funny how many people could touch the reins one behind the other. And you thought it was going to be an uneventful end to your video. Love the man giving mints to the horsey after asking permission of course.
I personally don't want people to give treats to my horse because it is his signal that he is done working and it his reward. if he is still working then he gets very mouthy looking for treats from everyone and starts going for their pockets. Amazingly there is another person at our barn that walks by and gives treats without asking .

Heard a few gasps when guard was dismounting, the first slap from both guard's was a thankyou i have seen loads of horse riders do it,the second slap by one guard they all only slap the leather strap and the horse's never flinch or react's so it obviously doesn't feel it.
Thanks John for another excellent video, I was a bit surprised at the gentleman giving mints to the horse, but there is a first for everything, I guess. Your the best on RUclips John

@@adelia988 No, all types of horses are addicted! You get the odd nutcase who can't stand them but thankfully they're rare. My horse had never been fed by hand when I got him, and he certainly wasn't going to eat those nasty little white things. I had to poke one in the side of his mouth and hold his lips closed. It began to melt, his ears shot forward and his eyes opened wide. Hooked, sorted. The great thing about Polos is that they're cheap, they fit easily into your pocket, they're hard so they don't easily get soggy when wet, and the packaging holds together when they rattle around in your pocket.
Hello John from Australia - It intrigues me that some guards coats are not as well fitting as others. I would have thought full dress uniform would be tailor made. It's a shame the troopers have to do crowd control along with all their other duties while the MOD police stand around.
