I use my original surface duo with the remote desktop app made by microsoft and regularly run windows 10 on it. Its very responsive and the screen size is just big enough (if you span the app on both screens in landscape) to get a great experience with RDP and windows 10 / 11.
Ehm no. I was a big windows phone fan. And wished they committed to it after the Nokia buy out, but they didn't. So yeah, please let them commit to make a their android phones the best Windows companion device they can. #writtenonmySD2
I used my Surface Duo more than any other mobile device I've ever owned... I can only imagine I'll use the Surface Duo 2 even more with all of the great improvements.
The Surface Duo is by far my favorite device that I have ever owned. The only reason that I'm not using it right now is because I just bought the Fold 3 but, honestly, I absolutely prefer the Duo form factor over the Fold. I already have Duo 2 pre-ordered and come October 20th, this Fold is going in the drawer.

For a device like this it makes no sense to have a camera bump, make it thick instead and add more battery. If making it thick helps to remove the bezels, go for it as well. Looks good but it's not quite there yet.

I had the first one and sold it, poor camera quality, at the time I also had an iphone Pro and decided to sell the Duo, now this camera set up makes me think to sell the iphone, and my iPad Pro that I use for my business and go all in the Duo 2 because now it’s a better all around device.
High resolution screen, high brightness, decent cameras and software optimization for different apps to make use of the dual screens. If they did all that right, I think it's a win
Man finally after so many years we are getting away from those boring rectangle slabs. Phones are once again fun. They are once again a symbol of Staus and fashion. The folding form factor has so many possibilities like inward folding(Z Fold 3), Rollables (LG Rollable Concept), Wrap around screen (MI MIX Alpha), Two separate screens (Surface DUO 2), Outward Folding (Huawei Mate X), Clamshell Design (Motorola Fold and Z Flip 3) and the list can go on.
I am really happy that Microsoft made it to the 2nd gen and I was hyped for it until I saw that stupid camera bump that killed that pure, simple, and nice design. I know that 1 gen had a terrible camera but why did you put 3 lens camera setup? Nobody expects that this device will beat iPhones or Samsungs from a quality photos perspective. One high-quality circle lens would be enough and it would keep still that perfect design. This just blends with any other device.
Of course I want it but I'm not getting fooled again. I paid full price for the first one and knew there would be some issues but I didn't mind. There was a total lack of updates that brought meaningful improvements. Microsoft literally gave up on the first duo and left early adopters and fans feeling let down. It needed software improvements! We all knew the hardware limitations and accepted them. The hardware updates on the duo 2 look great but what about the HORRIBLE speaker? Like many other D1 owners the bezel at the charging port cracked and a chunk fell off. Is that improved? The cheap plastic Sim card ejection hole broke on the original because I had to swap phones all the time. I hope that's improved as well. The duo 2 looks great, I want it. I just don't trust you anymore Microsoft.

Genuinely frustrated by the addition of the rear camera. I've owned a surface duo for well over a year, and it lives in "phone mode" and I put it in side by side mode when I wanted side by side. This takes that away. Not sure if I will upgrade or not.
@@blob8390 it's not that I want to use the front facing camera, it's that the camera bump is in the way of you putting the phone in "phone mode" with the screens both facing outward. You can see what I mean when he takes the phone call. He can't open it all the way because the bump is in the way. Maybe it wouldn't be that noticeable, but at the moment a duo in phone mode is about a centimeter thick, and I'd have to imagine it would be more than 1.5cm with the camera bump in the way. Worse it would only be that thick on one side.
Maybe you're not ready for the Duo. Sure you can flip it all the way back to a single screen phone. But if you use that mode very often. What's the point of having two screen phone.
@@ahmadshiddiqn a case can balance it out so the screen doesn't bend, but it can't correct the shape of the device folded back like that. It can only add more material between the sides, and the hinge is a set width apart, so you will always end up with a wedge shape
Good cameras are nice but sadly now you can't fold it flat on the other side while taking a phone call. Also it seems pretty huge to put in a pocket. Maybe they should do a surface duo mini.
cant you make it gapless? I would switch from zfold 2/3 to duo phone immediately if it can be gapless. unfolding two gapless screen into one large screen would be awesome.

I've always felt that the duo concept is far better than any other foldable; and with a better chipset, triple camera setup and smaller bezels, this feels way better than its predecessor. Needles to say it's far over my budget, so...(cries in the corner)

Ok, all in for the curved screen (a little more would have been nice), but wtf with the camera protrusion ? You've a nice and slick design, and you add this monstrosity on the back ? For me it was never the point of this device to make great photo, you definitely should have skip this trend. Curvier display, less border on top and bottom, no camera bump, and it would have been an insta buy for me - maybe next year, right ?
I really hope they fixed the horrible laggy software with this one. The first one failed due to the lack of smoothness in the software. It felt like I was using an earlier 2010 android phone. 😑
Luckily, it has the latest snapdragon 888 AND 90Hz refresh rate screens. That'll take care of it. The first duo was an entire processor generation behind when it came out.

I honestly believe they should just leave the phone part out of it this dropping the price dramatically to $700-$1000 and it would be perfect for what it is.
Just wait 8 more months to get this $1500 device for $400. The Flip 3 is $500 cheaper with the same SoC and same amount of RAM. Much more compact though. Flip 3 can act like a Duo 2 mini.
As a former Samsung Galaxy Fold owner who currently owns an LG V50 with its detachable DualScreen case, dual display screen is definitely a much more practical approach than a single foldable smartphone. The fact that I can watch videos in full screen on one screen while browsing the Internet or chatting in social media on another screen is a complete no brainer. That is something I would never been able to do with foldable smartphones.
I wish Microsoft make two model of Duo 2, one with the camera bump and the other flushed even if it's just low megapixels like the front facing one. I like thw Duo original where you can flip open and closed and laying flat.

Thinner bezels mean less room to grab the device without triggering false input on the screen. You're thinking form over function, this isn't Apple.

I wish Microsoft make two model of Duo 2, one with the camera bump and the other flushed even if it's just low megapixels like the front facing one. I like thw Duo original where you can flip open and closed and laying flat.
