No exceptions! I NEVER run my power straight to the wall. I always have at least a power conditioner first.

I’m very lazy so I can’t see full drum kit mic in that setting. Almost all bar settings we just mic kick

We mic'd everything so the band could get a decent recording. Though, there were some drums in the FOH pa (at a lower level).

In a situation like that why you don't consider to place the console side stage and mix with an Ipad + router? Great Video!

We don't use iPads for events. Though, this event would have been a good candidate for it.

@@stageleftaudio I'm with you I absolutely HATE ipad mixing but unfortunately it's a necessary evil in some venues that only have a rack console and I'm just hired to mix not rent gear. For shows I bring gear I try to use a real console.

I stil love my alto speakers they may not be as good as JBL RCF QSC or what ever big brand out ther but they are in a nice price range and if you treat them well they wil last you long time

Agreed. Those Altos beckwith uses are decent speakers.

it might be interesting to hear how you mic'd (or DI'd) each instrument and vocalist in this small environment. What options did you have? What options did you choose? Since the band knows you well and v.v., was there anything that you did for them that might be different form someone you don't know yet? Thanks. Great stuff!

Good questions. All guitars and keys were direct (all amps had built-in DIs). This was to ensure more floor space for the band (no mic stands needed) and to reduce (or eliminate) feedback due to "open mics". The vocals were all using Sennheiser e835 and e935 with gain settings appropriate for small (tight) stage areas.
Because I have worked with this band a lot, they actually did something for me... they brought in their own monitors! Beckwith and I talked about it due to the space issues. If I were to have brought my monitors, the whole stage area would have had to move out another 3ft. to accommodate the monitor speakers I use along with the monitor amp rack. From my side of the service, there is nothing I did any different for "beckwith" as I would have for another band I have never worked with. Though, I did record their gig at their request... Some bands I have done videos for (when mixing them on their gear). At the end of the event, I just give the SD card I used to record with. Thanks for your comment.

It's odd thar you don't use any digital stage boxes. That's a 32 channel mixer with 16 flex outs (plus stereo Mains), but you need a digital stage box to get the other chanbels.

We have a digital solution, but opted not to use it due to the space limitations. The video doesn't show it well, but there really is no room for much of a PA.

Great job, I always say no effects while talking only while preforming. One of my pet peeves.

Digital consoles... since they appeared, they”ve made engineers life easy, but sucked flavor from sound in love performances...
