Unlucky pigeon gets BOTH WINGS caught in a fence!

- We attend various calls to rescue animals trapped in fences, however, normally they are foxes and deer - not wood pigeons!
The poor thing had gotten both wings through and out the other side of a metal fence and was unable to release itself. Lawrie to the rescue!

Aw thank you for caring!
Fat,lucky and beautiful dove ..
Congrats to you boys
Thank you so much for rescuing this poor darling ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Lovely pigeon!! Well done!
Aww sweetie pie ooh look at that wound, but with you and your team that pigeon will be back to health and released
Poor thing 😟. Thanks for helping these guys ❤
Thanks for your support!
Your awesome Laurie !!!
Thank you Lois!
good job Lawrie
Thank you!
That's a really cute pigeon.
Have you guys thought of doing a video just to point out the worst kinds of fences and meshes and what to use instead? I have the feeling that it could be useful for who wants to avoid animal trapping. 😺
Great idea!
Use hedges where they will fit and you have access to both sides to cut them. They don't rot either.
Yes, I am very interested, too!
Probably wooden with no spacing or minimal spacing. Hedges are best though especially ones that don’t need trimming often.
Excellent suggestion!
what an unlucky trapped pigeon!! good that nothing was broken!!! nice rescue of this beautiful pigeon!! Thank u so much!!
Thank you
Poor Pigeon! Lawrie almost got caught in the fence too 🥰 Nice job Vet Tim and Rescuer Lawrie - pigeon can show off his new band-aid to his friends. 😍
Thank you for helping pigeons. I called the RSPCA about twenty years ago when I found a pigeon close to death in my street. They refused to help because they are classed as vermin and wouldn't even allow me to drop it off at their hospital. I cried. They are only a problem because of our unnatural cities.
Such a shame :(
This is a wood pigeon. They dwell in trees and are a native species. Please don't confuse these birds.
The problem with pigeons in cities in not because they're unnatural, but _too natural_ for the feral rock dove, as the buildings and especially bridges resemble their natural cliff habitat. They simply can't breed in the countryside off the cliffs of the coast. So they accumulate in the cities.
Nice bit of manoeuvring through the fence Lawrie.
@@kitsuneneko2567 It's a good thing he didn't have to flip the bird in order to get it free
Great work Lawrie.
Bless him/her - what a silly sausage! Thank goodness the wound was fairly superficial! It's also great to see a little more of Tim at work! That wisteria on site must look (and smell) lovely when in full bloom :)
Another commenter mentioned this already, and I think it's a great idea. Please do a video on safe kinds of fencing for wildlife; or, even a list on your website, products to avoid if you don't want to cause damage to the animals around you. Thank you for saving the pidge
I have a soft spot for wood pigeons, found one that had been hit by a car on my way to school so I took him to the PDSA on the bus i had to catch to get to school. He happily sat wrapped in my coat and did even need to be held for the whole journey of about half an hour (unfortunately I needed to catch that bus so I wasn't late but closer to school at the PDSA I could get 2 buses) he was a lovely bird and I hope he was okay
Me too. There are two who frequently visit my garden - Woody and Wendy.
That's very kind of you, thank you for helping that poor creature :)
That's really good of you. I work for the PDSA, the hospital teams do such amazing work and hopefully they were able to help the little guy. Wood Pigeons are such nice birds, there's always a big group of them in my garden 😁
Nice rescue effort! Thanks for caring :)
Me too but I didn't know who to call or where to take it and I was working at the time so I just left it behind a wall and when I came back to check up on it after work hoping it flew off I could see it crawled for a bit and died, other people only came to me when I stopped the traffic to pick it up but no one could help it poor thing. At least now I know about wildlife aid and I can rely on them because they're local and I wouldn't mind dropping animals off to them either.
Happy and healthy again. Well done team!
Thank you
Love wood pigeons - my favourite sound of summer
Thank you
love their coo-ing calls in the mornings. very calming.
One of my favourite birds has to be the New Zealand Wood Pigeon. They're quite goofy tbh. They're quite large and have beautiful plumage but they're still pigeons at heart. Although they DO have a habit of getting drunk as hell on fermented berries and doing rather silly stuff as a result. I love them a lot
@3:30 "I'm fine here thanks!" I agree with this pigeon. I'm just fine here enjoying this channel too, thanks!
Haha thanks
@@wildlifeaid How long was the pigeon with you? Or did you let it go with the hydrocolloid bandage? (I know they fall off on their own when the wound is healed.)
Thanks. I was looking if someone had already posted it.
There’s bad luck, and there’s this pigeon. Oh my.
Great rescue Lawrie job well-done pal congrats team WA.😻😸😺👌👍
Pigeons are quite smart. During lockdown i loved watching them picking leftovers from the bird feeder and often there was a pair resting, even sleeping on my balcony, all puffed up and drowsy :-)
Very sweet. ❤️
I have two that visit my garden regularly he looks in good condition, Great Rescue... He seemed to me when released to be saying Look Maa I can Fly.
Thank you guys for helping even pigeons. Too many wild animal rescues turn them down because they are so common, yet they are also such sweet birds. And their domestic cousins make far better pets than parrots.
One of my favorite pigeons ! They do have a tendency to be very curious about things and get stuck in the most awkward ways lol .
Thank you so much Lawrie and Mister Vet !
Hugs to the whole team !
Thank you for your kind words of support Louve!
@@wildlifeaid You guys are amazing in so many ways !
Thanks!
Thank you for your donation and support John!
Flying free!! Thank you so very much!
Oh poor guys. He was really jammed. Luckily recovered well and is back in business 👍👍
I'm involved in pigeon rescue. Wood pigeons are quite skittish compared to town pigeons. They are certainly a challenge when it comes to treating them! And yes, they have their own personalities too. Thanks for saving this one.
Thanks for your support
How on Earth did this silly bird get himself caught like this? :O
He's so lucky that he was spotted by some kind soul who called for help ❤️ Glad everything turned alright 🥰
We're not entirely sure how the pigeon got stuck like this but thanks to Lawrie it all worked out well in the end.
Thanks for your efforts
Thanks for your support
You guys are my heros. Thank you so much for being amazing.
Aww that's very kind. Thank you for your support!
Well done all. Thank you.
Thank you for saving that pigeon's life. Your voice sounds like your dad's. You're doing a terrific job with suffering animals. What a great family ! :)
Thank you! *Simon is not Lawrie's dad :D
We must be careful with such mesh fences so that birds and other animals do not get stuck there. Lawrie, you pulled the pigeon out so carefully of the trap. Good work! Well done!
Thank you
Pigeons are utterly amazing and often more clever than us poor humans. They are the only birds who recognize themselves in a mirror and of course always manage to fly back home if taken away from it.
They can correct grammar mistakes and they can remember the meaning of thousands of words and they can recognize picasso's and monet's paintings. Most people cant do it. They are truly brilliant animals.
I had a pet pigeon for 12 years and he knew many words.
Oh wow, another great job and video thanks 💖😁
Thanks for the support!
Back to freedom, what a release, care 🙂📣🎶🏆🎖️👍
Absolutely love wildlife aid, I've been watching there videos for about 4 years now, and it's always so cool 👍
Thanks for your support!
Awesome job, guys!😘
☺️❤️sweet.
Thank you so much. Greatfull the pigeon feels FINE 😊
Thanks for your support :)
Poor thing, well done guys, as always!
Thank you
Nice again Lawrie Brailly
Lawrie did a great job maneuvering the pigeon out of the fence! That's an expensive dressing for the little guy, they're like 10 AUD for a single one here. It's awesome to see he got safely back into the wild :)
Beautiful job!
Thank you
Poor old wood pigeon. Must have been feeding.
I once saw a wood pigeon on a fence, move away in terror from a parakeet. 😁
Quite a feat of dexterity keeping hold of the birdy while getting it to the top of that silly fence
Wood pigeons are my favs! They are so nice and big.
We love them too!
I love them too. They are so beautiful
You guys do such good work
Bless you all ✌🏻🇬🇧
Aww thank you for your support Billy
Well done!👏👏👏
Thank you
🐞Great job!🐞
Oh man. Lawrie, while watching that lifting of the bird up the fence bit, I coud only think that you are so lucky you're as tall as you are.
You all are so caring at WAF! Thank you!!
Thank you for your kind words
Good job of not getting stuck yeself! I got a bit anxious!
How on Earth did the pigeon manage to get stuck like that? Anyway, great work as always Lawrie! You're like a second Simon!
We're not entirely sure how the pigeon got stuck like this but it was a happy outcome in the end
I'm glad you release in the same area. Could have been a single parent with babies that would have died.
I think people forget that.
Many thanks. We always release adult animals back to where they were found unless there is a very good reason not to.
Pigeons are my fav they crack me up such silly characters :) Once again go team WAF 🌷
Thanks for your support Annika!
You guys are simply amazing ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much for your kind words of support
Yea, Lawrie!
"I'm fine here thanks."
Awesome guy
Thank you
3:30 "I'm fine here thanks!" For those slow to read. xD
Now that’s what we like to see!
i love pigeons. it's a shame that many people think they're pests.
how many people know about pigeons? for example how much pigeons love water. i have often seen her standing up to her stomach in a puddle. why ever they do that. they do that when even it is cold.
There is a group of pigeons at our local shopping centre who take great delight at the large hole in the road in one of the least used parking spaces. When it rains its like a small swimming pool for birds. Sometimes 5-6 pigeons are in there splashing about and a few are watching on waiting their turn. There are signs everywhere that say 'don't feed the pigeons' where you can usually see someone 'feeding the pigeons' 😂
@@kitsuneneko2567 city pigeons are feral houses und lifestock, rats are not!
so they are definitely NOT a vermin.
@@ShortOrderCook i am an absolute fan of controlled pigeon houses. i think the pigeons too. this wild feeding ist, sorry, crap.
Ignorant people call pigeons "pests". They are brilliant animals.
Agree with you .The daft thing about pests. Ok they defecate what life form doesn't ?They don't smash things up or leave broken bottles around..The biggest pest on the planet and most numerous are many humans ...Thanks WAF .No animal is a
pest many humans are ..End of rant Great rescue Laurie👍🕊
I wish he'd been kept until the horrid wound had healed If the dressings are caught on a branch he is back to square 1
and open to infection. Pigeons are pretty wonderful👍 Great resue Lawrie ....
I'm sure he was, as the vet mentioned plans on how to remove dressings later 🙂
little hand shuffling
Wood pigeons are like chickens, a bit clumsy, but cute of course. Great rescue, is he going to be with those plasters for long?
Pigeons are very cute, we agree with you there. The plasters were removed before it was taken for the release at the end of the video.
I am a reminded of a time when I was young and we still had the old neighbours that fed them all the time so we got LOADS on our roofs waiting for food, one of them was so trusting of us that if you held out your hand it would fly up to try and seek food from your hand.
These pigeons occasionally land on my balcony and just wait for food, I think they only come when they're starving if they can't find anything because they don't come very often and return each year.
Glad a cat didn't happen by while the poor thing was caught.
"I'm fine here, thanks!"
Lucky pidge! How awful if you hadn’t rescued the poor thing!
Darn, I wanted to see how he was cared for while recovering. I'm amazed that, no matter what animal is brought to your facility, you always have the right kind of food! You guys must have a warehouse full of that stuff!
Pigeon was like: "Wait, no stop wait! You can't do this! I cooOoOOoo pay your salary cooOOOoOoOo!"
“That’s one traumatised pigeon” - to be fair anyone meeting Lawrie for the first time is left traumatised 😂
Haha poor Lawrie
@@wildlifeaid 😂
What…?! 🙄
❤️Lawrie.
poor hunny
There's a perfect skeleton of a pigeon that got stuck in a wire fence where I work. Sadly we found it far too late. There's another pigeon that stands near it sometimes...
How sad for the poor pigeon :(
💛
🙏🏻💜
good thing that fence wasn't too high
Just the right height for Lawrie :D
0:22 sometimes my life feels like I am this pigeon.
"Don't do anymore damage..." I need a god-like rescuer to do this for me lmao
Thank you, you are pro angels😅
Thank you
Not all superheroes wear capes
How did the pigeon got stuck like that and cudos to the Simon with a wig
We're not sure how the pigeon got stuck there in the first place, as we were called by a member of the public that had spotted it in situ
❤
Wood pigeons are fatter than normal pigeons
Did anyone else catch the “I’m fine here thanks!”, written on the screen at 3:30 as a response from the pigeon when Laurie asked it, are you just going to sit there? I saw something white flash but couldn’t read it because it’s so fast. I tried to pause to read it but couldn’t catch the frame. I switched to .25X speed and start/paused rapidly starting at 3:30 until I caught it. (Yes, I’m a bit nuts.)
Yikes what an awful fence for wildlife- you can barely see it due to the color!
Thank God 🙏 Brits like their pigeons 🕊️‼️👍 DownUnder 🌏 I get abused daily by pigeon haters : "rats 🐀with wings.....🐦..not native birds ect." In general Auzis are cruel to all animals 🐾 especially cats 🐈👎😹👵
🕊👍
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
👌👌👌
When you guys pu text comments on the video, can you please leave it up longer than .5 milliseconds? I have run this piece back four times trying to pause it at the exact right second to read it; and I still haven't been able to catch it 😕
Haha, we try to do it like this to see how many people can spot it. It says 'I'm fine here thanks!' :D
