Man, I got Deferred from MIT and rejected at Stanford. This situation is really frustrating. Getting deferred and not rejected from MIT is an achievement in itself but my acceptance chances are much lower now... I must aim for lowkey ivies now like Dartmouth, Cornell, and probably JHU and Duke.

I really overlooked the Stanford admission criteria because I knew I had a very little chance. My mum insisted however and I applied for REA there. Heyy, while I know that this is unrelated to the vid, it's still something I'm a bit confused about so I thought I'd ask, is the notion that applicants who've studied in cbse given a preference over applicants from indian state boards true? Are indian state boards even recognised in UK universities? Also, for US colleges does it generally really matter what board you've studied from (apart from IB)? Would be great if you could help. :)
I may not be the best person to answer this but there is no preference because all of them are recognised by the government. But you might have to use some agency to convert your marks into their equivalent GPA so that the universities know what level you are at and if you'll be able to cope up with the coursework. This is what I have gathered from all the seminars in our school where all people are applying abroad.
@@saranyaghosh2003 omg, thanks a lot for replying, and yes even I got into touch with a college counselling company and they said that atleast for the US and canada (which is where i plan on applying) sticking to state board is fine and there's no disadvantage in it. But abt the agencies that you go to in order to convert your marks to gpa, I've heard that WES is the one that you should go to for that evaluation, but do you have anymore info on how and where exactly you should go for this evaluation? @@m.8285 Sorry this might be a bit vague but as far as I know, you have to fill up some forms online and submit all the required documents. The institute you study in also has to send them the transcripts directly.They then verify everything and send the reports to the universities you are applying to. I hope this helps!

Pretty much the same approach. Defer happens in the Early Application round. Waitlist happens in the Regular round
