These days wrestlers usually just show up as who they are in real life. Now its more like an actor just talking about a roll they are playing. I loved when they were the same person in an interview that they were in the ring. Pre internet I actually believed they really were like the characters they portrayed lol. Dustin Runnel's Goldust character really is one of the most unique parts of wrestling history. He did this in the mid 90s when that kind of stuff wasn't common on TV. He pushed boundaries, and then to find out that in real life he is a rough and tumble rugged guy. They gave him this very bizarre gimmick and he ran with it. And he will go down in history. Fair play to him.

Dustin played that character to perfection, Goldust is such a memorable character because of the commitment and passion he put into it. Anyone else would likely not have taken that character as far as him and would be thrown in the trash bin of wrestling history.

Goldust had an odd prime of his career lol I’d say ‘95-‘96 and 2001-2003 and then his last tag team run with Cody 2013-2015. His attitude era run was pretty terrible and in TNA unfortunately he was dealing with a lot of personal issues. One of the best gimmicks ever for sure.
