For my case i know what gonna happened, and feel a little bit relieved because i though Paul Would just lost his live without witnessing what happened after he saved Rudeus, but he still alive when they defeated the hydra, that why he smiled in his last moment. he saved Rudeus and successfully doing their mission to save Zenith, now he can peacefuly leave the world and entrust everything to his son that he proud of.
Think of it this way, Paul was under the impression he was a terrible father, but he dies saving his son, wife AND doing 80% of the work in killing a high tier Hydra. Dude went out like a boss with NO regrets. Why else did he smile in the end.

well, now we know what that "GOD" meant by whether he stays or goes he'll regret it... he lost his dad and his mom's mind became half of a veggie... either way. he lost some important things....
If he had not intervened: - His father would still be dead! - Her mother still locked in the crystal (probably for eternity) - Roxy would have died, Elinalise as well as most adventurers with a few exceptions! The losses would have been much greater than at the end of this misadventure!! So no Rudeus has nothing to regret not having followed the advice of Hitogami!!

I regret watching it today..kinda feeling very sad from inside..dunno what to do now..and especially today is fathers day..feeling bad for rudeus.
Trust me it hurts for all of us..... I've read the LN and WN version of this and this still hurt to watch.
