It always surprised me when I said A110 is based on Renualt 8 and has engine producing less than 200hp, it's like Lotus of France and that this car was assembled practically everywhere from Spain, Mexico down to communist Bulgaria at that time.
They have. Check out the new Renault Alpine looks good, all aluminium body lightweight with a turbo 1600cc engine. Very similar in looks to the original.
I would like to point out that the Morgan in the video is *not* Aeromax, but Aero Coupe (or SuperSport, which is the Targa version, but the video isn't really clear). While Aeromax is limited edition car, the Aero Coupe is basically regular production model of Aeromax with slight changes in the back, while Aeromax had a windshield in the shape of "shield", the Aero ditched that with regular windscreen like the car in the video.
Instead of DB5 I would nominate DB6 as better fastback than DB5, It has kamm tail that some people argued it ruins the DB5 design but personally I prefer that and not to mention DB6 is more slippery than DB5 and don't worry people will still mistaken you as James Bond.
wegenforum... Over here they go for €8,000-€12,000 and they'll be in ok condition. Same with the Escort Mk 1s and 2s. Escorts are getting ridiculous prices nowadays. A friend of mine was offered Lm25,000 (€45,000) for a black one with a lotus in it.
got a 69 gt/j. restored it and had the chassis in a zinck bath, put a 2.8 liter monza engine in did upgrades on the suspension and brakes. Now it and is blowing the 911 away. A realy mini corvette is it. Use it only on meetings and on dry days. In the wet it is a tree climber like the old porsches, but i do miss the 2th model of ford capri here. Bought 2 years ago one and restoring/transforming it to the Zackspeed capri with a 6 cilinder 3.2 litre engine it. Can wait for the first time on the road with it
Some good choices here, although many would dispute the Morgan Aero: that 'hollowed out' rear window is a mess and what on earth is a supposedly modern design doing with running-boards? One more I'd nominate is the Facel Vega Facel II, a more elegant - and rarer - French realisation of the Jensen Interceptor concept (coupé with Detroit V8 + European styling) - although it's not a fastback.
That's the idea out of it, it's a modern retro cars, that is why it still has running board, to make what if 1930s styling evolved until today. Also the windows on Aero is so much better than the "shield" like window design of Aeromax, also would like to point out that the Morgan in the video is either Aero Coupe or Supersport and not limited edition Aeromax.
My old boss had a Facel Vega HK500, only kept it for a month. Every time he took it out, it tried to kill him. It was the worst handling car ever built, and with a 393 Chrysler engine and push button transmission, too front heavy and far too powerful.
OMG, that Citroen is so cool. The Jaguar makes the Porsche behind it look boring! The Jensen looks like a 911, but with a little AMC Pacer DNA. HA. Great video; beautiful cars!
My first thought was that it looks like the Pacer's cool big brother. A lot of Opel GTs got Chevy V8 swaps. There was one here with a 350 in it, and it was a little beast.
Psyko, that's cool. I've never heard about the 350 swaps. Was it just the engine? Or, also transmission and final drive? I can't imagine the original equip could withstand that.
I only got a quick look under the hood at night, but I'm guessing it was a total swap. Probably similar to swapping a V8 into old Nissan/Datsun Z cars. Tiny terrors.
Psyko, I nearly swapped an inline-4 with side-draft carbs in an MGB for a 6-cyl 60HP 2-stroke Mercury outboard motor engine. My engineer Dad made used a milling machine to make the spline shaft needed. I designed the water cooling system and exhaust. Then, end of high school and early college years put this project to rest. I totally regret that I never made this come to fruition.
The SM is clearly one of those automotive what-if, it combines Maserati engine (which is also used in Merak) with Citroen clever suspension and Robert Opron futuristic design, sadly the car price is quite high at that time, especially it wears Citroen badges, the US market didn't really received the car in term of sales either. With Citroen bleeding money, Peugeot take over and canceled SM for good, while in the future SM is set to received V8 of Maserati design. If only....
There are whispers that the Maserati V8 can be eased into a Citroen SM. I hope that anyone doing this will give it a REALLY good limited slip differential, and tame the understeer which this car is prone to. Not that the Maser V8 will be easy to find.... The SM was killed by the 1973 oil crisis.
What killed Citroën in north America - including Canada - is the US insisted on those awfull rubber bumpers fitted on Euro cars to comply with new 5 mph bumper and crash regulations. Citroën absolutely refused, arguing that their cars were engineered to AVOID crashes with better brakes, anti-dive suspension etc. So ALL citroën cars were banned here. And, by the way, Citroën cars were NOT plagued with problems, especially the Hydro-pneumatic suspension and brakes : many were ruined by machanics here who had no idea to maintain them. Once sorted out, it was bullet-proof.
At 6:33 there is a Porsche 911 or 912 behind the Jaguar. IMHO, that Porsche design has a place in this group instead of the angular Citroen or the ungainly Jenson with its giant, disproportionate rear window.
I like Morgans, as they are almost all cool cars. Almost. I have never liked those 'modern' Morgans, as they look like a backward Excalibur, make an old looking car more modern looking instead of the other way around. In my eyes, they are just ugly. The Jensen Interceptor is a neat car, but I prefer the Jensen FF for looks. The back end is the same, but the FF has a longer wheelbase and sheetmetal ahead of the windshield that I think looks better proportioned. It's also the first full time four wheel drive road car (they call it all wheel drive today). Finally, no Saab Sonnett III? That's such a pretty little car and surprisingly rugged too.
what a fail list... Mercedes 300SL Gullwing? Wiesmann GT MF4? makes the Morgen look like a handicaped kid with wrong eyes.. Artega GT? Hommel Berlinette RS 2000? DKW Monza? Lancia 037 Stradale? Alfa Romeo Giulietta SZ Coda Tronca? there are so many much better looking than this list...
they only made 400+ Db5s but other than being used for the "Bond", car, it's a POOR, ughly-sister to the more numerous {4000+} and MUCH handsomer DB-6. If I had a "dog" like the DB5, I'd SELL the DOG, and get a DB-6, --the car that SHOULD have been the "Bond" car, because it's more attractive. Also, no spy worth his "stuff" could have a DB5--too few of them,--you'd STICK-OUT like a chartreuse Yugo! Better to "hide" back in the pack with a DB-6, which was faster and thousands were made, so the "Bad guys" wouldn't see you in the DB5, and say--"There's that Brit-turd 'James Bond'. Can't miss him in a RARE, ughly piece o' Shite the DB5 is"
Oh PLEASE! The Morgan AeroEight looks like something found in a north Florida trailer park! The Alpine A110 looks like something a high school kid would cobble out of a Karmann Ghia, The Jensen Interceptor looks like a whole lot of cars from the 1990's, The Citroen SM has all the styling of a brief case, and.... When you showed the Opel GT as a member of "10 Of The Best-Looking European Fastbacks Ever Made", I stopped the video and left. While the Opel GT is a nice looking car, it is little more than a four cylinder German Corvette. It breaks no ground and while very nice, it is eclipsed by FAR nicer cars like the Porsche 928, 944/951, Volkswagen Corrado, Volkswagen Scirocco I and II, Fiat Coupe, and Alfa Romeo GTV! Hello? I know that design is completely subjective, but for crying out loud... !
The Maserati Khamsin is a spectacular fastback. Near perfection.
7:23 i was not prepared for that, had to go back and watch it like 12 times in a row
It always surprised me when I said A110 is based on Renualt 8 and has engine producing less than 200hp, it's like Lotus of France and that this car was assembled practically everywhere from Spain, Mexico down to communist Bulgaria at that time.
I love it when these so called car guys rev the engine hard while at idle while just starting it up
They'll learn the term spun bearing soon enough
That Alpine A110 looks so cool and tossable. They should do it again.
They have. Check out the new Renault Alpine looks good, all aluminium body lightweight with a turbo 1600cc engine. Very similar in looks to the original.
ALPINE REBIRTH in 2018 with the A110 2018 --> ruclips.net/video/Sva2KtzRYqM/видео.html
I could smell the clutch plate burning on takeoff :P
Jansen interceptor is my favorite.
Must be, seeing as how you can’t be bothered to spell it correctly
Very cool post!
British need Italian designers...
That Alpine A110. I'll take two, please. (And an E-type.)
The Aston sounds like a VW beetle when it was pulling out of the gas station.
, , , And don't forget , the toyota pickup on the right side
has a fake chicken hanging from the hitch. :)
nice car love
I am excited by the horn rig on the Maserati.
Alpine and opel gt so nice cars

The original first generation v8 vantage looks good, but only because it took design after the 68 mustang fastback.
Will someone please give Car News TV a new video of the Jensen Interceptor? Thank you!
That Maserati has Norwegian plates from the 60's. Also I miss the Iso Grifo here.
Oslo plates if I recall correctly.
The most beautifull is missing: Alfa- Romeo Tipo 33 Stradale 1967.
You're right... But there is no 250GTO either. Maybe those 2 are too beautiful for this video :P
perhaps because the Alfa 33 isn't a fastback style - it's a Mid-Engined Coupe'
that morgan is a retro looking car done right
The Capri should be present in the list.
The affordable fastback.
wegenforum Taunus and Granada also. And, of course, Opel's Rekord, Commodore, Manta and Kadett.
wegenforum depends on when you're referring to affordable.
simtalkayak The Ford Capri is still very much affordable, you can buy a daily driver from about 3500 euro to as much as you'd like to spend.
wegenforum... Over here they go for €8,000-€12,000 and they'll be in ok condition. Same with the Escort Mk 1s and 2s. Escorts are getting ridiculous prices nowadays. A friend of mine was offered Lm25,000 (€45,000) for a black one with a lotus in it.
simtalkayak wauw, i'm amazed
Days when Opel was doing good sport cars :/
the Opel GT was an GM offspin of the corvette C3
Beautiful, Cars ok 😜👉👌
Love the Opel GT...but it was never a fast car...or a car that could keep from rusting.
got a 69 gt/j. restored it and had the chassis in a zinck bath, put a 2.8 liter monza engine in did upgrades on the suspension and brakes. Now it and is blowing the 911 away. Renault Alpine was also produced in Bulgaria as Renault Bulgaralpine
That Alfa sounds like the 4.4 V8 M3
Brawo 👏 👍 super 👌
Mk1- mk3 Ford Capri...? Should be number 2 at least
first one:ferrari daytona with the dino v6!!
Der Renault ist absolut der geilste👍
11. :*VW SCIROCCO XD*

Facel Vega!!!!!!!!!!! Get yourself to the opticians.
I'd visit them in a heartbeat if it was the HK500 I'd nominated, but the Facel II? Not a chance!
My old boss had a Facel Vega HK500, only kept it for a month. Every time he took it out, it tried to kill him. It was the worst handling car ever built, and with a 393 Chrysler engine and push button transmission, too front heavy and far too powerful.
Indeed - French philosopher Albert Camus was killed in a HK500.
Good list but what about the Opel Bitter CD
The guy in Aston Martin blinked to the right, but went to the left.
9:00 Alfa Romeos and an Autobianchi!!!💙
OMG, that Citroen is so cool. The Jaguar makes the Porsche behind it look boring! The Jensen looks like a 911, but with a little AMC Pacer DNA. HA. Great video; beautiful cars!

Funny you mention that since Interceptor were designed by Touring Superleggera which was the designer of DB5.

Just use the "red" hydro-pneumatic fluid made by Citroen and nos problems , want to change de dumper ,unscrew the sphères ,put new one and it's done
What about the Opel Monza?
And Ford Capri & Reliant Scimitar.
Mercedes 300SL Gullwing....
Title says : BEST-looking european fastbacks..... so there you go...
ISO Grifo? overlooked Ferrari's: Lusso, GTO, 275 GTB. 250 GT swb obviously more than 10 needed here
vw karmann ghia. porsche 911 ,bizzarini, lamborghini, vector, bmw 3.0 csl, this citroen SM out of this group.
Sorry, but the Jensen is fugly, however, WOW(!) that Alpha Montreal could really accelerate in reverse!
That Morgan isn't a fastback. The Aeromax was though.
Wot no Marcos GT?
Will the Maserati do 185?
6:17 Weird horn
top 10 european muscle cars

ISO GRIFO, ISORIVOLTA LELE, ETC
Very nice cars But what about "Pegaso" cars made in Spain, the best ever, beatufull and faster than british, Italian and German cars.
i see your biased not to mention no taste. it could be what you say but knocking out other nationalities is pure no taste.
Scimitar GTE
Alpine !!
Aston Martin amv8
The Jenson does not make the cut.

.....No BMW E86??...........
Lamborghini Espada?
We have a different taste, IMO the Morgan #1 is hideous.
Really, no 911? BS
Agree with E, Daytona and Montreal. But excuse me, SM and Interceptor are the most disgusting cars ever
How about Australian coupes.Ford Falcon,Holden Torana,Chrysler Charger,Holden Monaro.
david johnston what part of European you didn't get?

Citroen has to be one of the most fuck-ugly cars ever.
HAHA Db5 indicated right and went left....silly old git!
First ever
porsche 911
@anselrb340 porsche is your favourite? :)
At least half of these contraptions were the ugliest fastbacks ever made, bar noneQ
Sorry but the Daytona is one of the ugliest Ferraris ever. And the Morgan is way worse.
Ernesto Gasulla &^
VYpu forgot the Datsun 240Z and the Toyota 2000 GT do your homework Jack, bad camera angles
Err.............wake up, EUROPEAN fastbacks.
The title is European fastbacks you nonce...
You learn to read titles, brainiac.
Lol
