    Fun fact about Electric Soldier Porygon, the controversy and fallout of that episode caused the law in Japan to be changed that any films or anime with a lot of flashing lights need to be dimmed or reduced. If you’re an avid anime watcher you’ve probably noticed scenes during fights where the screen just becomes dimmer, well this is why

      @@yeseniaadames4389 I heard the new one is pretty good, and it is good from what I've seen. But I'm with you on preferring the OG anime, even if it has a lot of flaws, and I also understand why - replacing a story that has gone on for 25 years, even if the new one is of high quality, is going to be a tough sell because the OG version is so ubiquitous and iconic that it's the first thing that comes to people's mind when someone says "Pokémon". If you ask me, I don't think Liko and Roy will EVER replace Ash, no matter how good their story is or how much The Pokémon Company tries to push them.

    What made the loss at the Kalos League even more painful was that, during the subsequent Team Flare arc, they released the first look at the Sun and Moon anime series with the new artstyle and the more comedic tone and people were PISSED. I'm honestly surprised THAT wasn't included after the Kalos League bit.
    At any other time, that reveal would have generated some trepidation but, in the midst of all the League hype and during one of the best villain arcs of the anime's history, many felt like TPC were actively insulting them.
    In later years, some people have warmed to Sun and Moon (me included) but, at the time, the blowback was incredible.

    At the time I was OK with ash losing the Kalo league only because it wasn't his home region. The battle was epic though. However, when the Team Flare arc happens it was ash leading the charge all the way. And Allan even when he realized he was a pawn in Lysandre's scheme it was Ash, ASH, who had to remind him that Allan could be redeemed. This was when I realized that the win should have gone to ash.
    As great as the battle was I cannot in good conscience re-watch the battle now because of the loss.
    If anything, it makes Ash's victory in Alola sweeter because in each episode Alola was made to be Ash's temporary home thanks to living with professor Kukui.

    To me, the regions feel more realistic without a National Pokédex, import & export aside, one doesn't expect to find all Pokémon species ever including all their forms within a single region. But it also is just getting a bit much, the National Pokédex has gotten past the number of 1k, even more Pokémon species will join that number. So it just couldn't last forever, even with the removal of Pokédex entries. So many Pokémon did not have a Pokédex entry in gen 7. To me the National Pokédex phase out was already happening before Sword & Shield, with the removal of non in region Pokémon Pokédex entries. + the Pokédex had been split in gen 6 & gen 7 but hey. I don't mind a local Pokédex of 400 or 500 to 600 personally. Especially since the current system has a game for each and soon more will be able to access at least one game. But that's just my own thinking and opinion + observation

  • @terancetan5503
    @terancetan5503 7 месяцев назад

    I remember what happened when Ash lost the Kalos League. You REALLY had to be there to get the full impact, it was like a 19-year-long story slagging those who had watched it in the most insulting way possible. In hindsight, it's more small fries when compared to some of the other controversies, but for me, while I still watched the anime, I was never able to get over the feeling that he should have won, which made me really look back on the entire series (as in ALL 25 seasons) years later and realize several problems with the anime that I hadn't noticed before. So I guess, if I can give Ash's loss some credit, it's that it was my moment of "growing up" and realizing that this series had far more problems than I had realized.

    • @toumabyakuya
      @toumabyakuya 7 месяцев назад

      It wasn't insulting at all, it was very well executed. First Alain was given the correct amount of setup for being able to beat Ash. Then the type matchup comes into play: Ash-Greninja's attacks were being weakened by Zard's Dargon-type, meaning that instead of being Super Effective, they were regular damage.
      All in all, it was better setup than Tobias was.

    • @terancetan5503
      @terancetan5503 7 месяцев назад

      @@toumabyakuya True, Alain was set up to face Ash (and very well too), but in the case of your second point, it should be noted that type match-ups have rarely ever factored into the anime's Pokémon battles. Most characters utilise quick-thinking and legitimate strategies more often than they use type effectiveness, and in addition, opposing Trainers have engaged in such mockery of the type mechanics before, such as when Cress's Panpour defeated Ash's Pikachu back in Unova. Furthermore, before the battle against Alain, Ash-Greninja had taken down Sawyer's Mega Sceptile, which as a Grass/Dragon Type had a DOUBLE resistance against Greninja. If he was able to beat a Mega Sceptile, then he should have been able to beat a Mega Charizard X, which is a Fire/Dragon type, and therefore, the Water Shuriken should have done regular damage to it, as you have mentioned above.
      In addition, the loss doesn't even make sense story-wise as despite the Kalos League loss being meant to emulate Ash's losses in Johto and Hoenn, which were pretty well received, this one got an incredibly vitriolic response from the fanbase. However, Johto and Hoenn happened early on in the series, so he had less experience. By the time of Kalos, the SIXTH league he participated in, he should have gained enough experience to defeat Alain instead of losing in a very contrived way. And to be honest, not only did I see his Kalos loss coming from a mile away, but I predicted the fan reaction to a T. Regardless of how well-written or executed said loss would be, it was going to be hated, and not unreasonably either.
      Finally, Ash's Kalos league loss (along with his losses in Sinnoh and Unova) point to an altogether more glaring factor - it didn't teach him anything. When he lost the Indigo League, it was because of extenuating circumstances, but it was also because he didn't train hard enough, which stuck and he learned from. When he lost at the
      Silver and Ever Grande Conferences, he was going up against fully-evolved and stronger Pokémon (in fact, it was a testament to his skills that he came so close to beating them in the first place), and that he was placing too much faith in his Pokémon's abilities alone-a fact that was picked apart a thousand times over before it sunk in that it was holding Ash back, which is part of what made him beating Paul so satisfying. By comparison, his losses in Sinnoh (to Tobias), Unova (to Cameron) and Kalos (to Alain) didn't teach him anything invaluable to his growth as a character, and felt like a contrived way to keep him from winning a championship. Because, ultimately, what lesson is there to learn from losing to someone who you had no chance of beating from the start, or someone who snatches victory away in a sheer stroke of pure dumb luck?
      TLDR, there are legitimate grievances for the way people reacted to Ash losing the Kalos League, and those grievances were the result of years of mistakes and errors being made that culminated in the biggest one that they could have ever made. The only consolation is that Ash DID win the next League in Alola... and even THAT can be seen as an apology for what happened on August 18, 2016.

    • @toumabyakuya
      @toumabyakuya 7 месяцев назад

      @@terancetan5503 *"it should be noted that type match-ups have rarely ever factored into the anime's Pokémon battles."*
      That wasn't my point. My point was that Zard wasn't being hurt as badly as people thought he was thanks to his Dragon type.
      *"If he was able to beat a Mega Sceptile, then he should have been able to beat a Mega Charizard X, which is a Fire/Dragon type, and therefore, the Water Shuriken should have done regular damage to it,"*
      That's not how this works. Zard could easily have been in another level compared to Sceptile, something that does make sense after you see the kind of opponents it had prior to facing Ash in the finals.

      An exaggerated one at that.

      You are forcing your logic here. This being his sixth league doesn't have to mean that he's forced to win it. Especially when (excluding Pikachu) he always had a new team every single time.

      I will give you both Cameron and Tobias, but that's not the case for Alain.
      *"Because, ultimately, what lesson is there to learn from losing to someone who you had no chance of beating from the start, or someone who snatches victory away in a sheer stroke of pure dumb luck?"*
      This only fits Tobias and Cameron, not Alain.

    Let's not forget the time people thought Pokémon was satanic for a while until Pope John Paul II give his blessing to the series on November 8th, 2000

    And the most annoying and the most toxic moment what happened to pokémon are religious evangelicals slandered the game by calling it satanic which is xenophobic

    The most controversies in Pokémon franchise is, Tobias. This feel like Pokémon Company pull an action replay back from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl anime because, the writers are made a dumb move to make Ash lose is pretty messed-up. The theory is, What is Tobias's origin?

    Dude if you’re not epileptic it doesn’t affect you. I can view your screenshots that you were pretending hurt your eyes just fine. Hell I can even watch the flash effect in full speed. If you’re going to do this you’ve got to be honest. Why do you even feel it necessary to over exaggerate how a red screenshot affects your eyes? wtf dude for real

      Uhm he shows screenshots instead because that is safer, you can look up the actual episode to view the scene as it is available with subtitles. So unless you want a youtuber to get in trouble with Google, youtube etc, you have to respect the editing decision that was made concerning a triggering scene
