Great video as always, but you're a bit late. This would have been better to post the first day of Next Fest instead of now, when it's over and we can't try the demos.
@@RichGilly I wish I could have, but with other videos getting in the way and the fact that I still have to play like 40+ demos, it's hard to get it together even before the week is over. However, the majority of these demos are still available. Even Ghostrunner 2 that comes out tomorrow. Of course, Forgive Me Father 2's demo is gone because the game's already out...
I'm definitely going to check out a few. I really like how you tied in the script from one game to another, pretty smooth transitions. I always enjoy watching your videos, even if I don't leave a comment on every one of them.
Hear me out: RoboCop meets Alien Isolation. You and your crew of punks do a break-in Payday style. Then RoboCop shows up, and you have to escape that cyborg freak with your head unexploded.
I would play it. Except the guy sounds like a falling boulder every time he takes a step, so it might be easy to stay ahead of him. But where else could you have a game where you get your dick shot off?
Nice rundown. Cool to see some games that we passed over in there! This wave of Next Fest games should be called "Steam Next Fest: Rise of the Robocop Thumbnails" 😆😆
I was literally just starting to watch your video. I was waiting to finish editing because I wanted to see what games we both had. Everyone likes Robert Cop though.
Bullet Heavens Summary: "removing as much interaction as possible - but adding as many things happening on screen outside of your control as can be generated by pixels."
So many rogue-likes these days. Not a bad thing, but I do find it interesting. I imagine most of these aren't exactly inspired by Rogue or Nethack, but enjoy the arcade-style shorter play sessions that come with the territory.
I gave up on trying to differentiate "Roguelike" and "Roguelite," though I do use both randomly. I used to be a little more averse to Roguelite's, but people have been putting together much more interesting experiences with them. With less repetitive struggling in the beginning, I am much more likely to keep playing even when I lose. I don't know if I could ever enjoy a true Roguelike these days.
Mentions of some best demos I played this next-fest: KarmaZoo, roguelike iteration of PicoPark. Published by Devolver digital and will be out within a month. Cowboy 3030, while it looks (and mostly likely is) a small team's "unreal asset store objects filled" game, the gameplay is actually good and "active reload" mechanic fits well. Mutant Karate Canary, erase crimes as a night-time "batman", with cards that play out in 2d fighting arenas. Kiborg, clunky feeling arena fist fighting roguelike that takes notes from batman arkham franchise. Goliath depot, throwback to 80-era kind games (but a solid game non-the-less). Ending Tau, top-down view roguelite like Hades or Children of Morta.
I thought KarmaZoo was interesting for a bit, but it just seemed like most of the challenge was getting everyone to work together. I'm also always concerned with the capability of multiplayer-only niche games. Especially when they're not F2P.
Cool. At a recent steam festival, I played the demo of another potentially good game - Arnold Bounty Hunter. It looks more like the first Battletoads - there are not only fights, but also various adventures with platforming, hydrocycles. It also looks interesting. I liked the demo.
I actually managed to play some demos this Next Fest! Not any of these demos though; just a card-based sci-fi rougelike (Cobalt Core) and a dice-based sci-fi rougelike (Lonestar). They both seemed pretty decent.
Chezoslovakians were kind of assholes, betrayed and killed the white army general they agreed to help (although he was kind of an idiot), committed numerous war crimes and run away with a huge chunk of imperial gold. I am sure they forgot to add that part to the game :p A lot of retroshooters and repeats of the old this time. I feel like the previous fests had more variety and unique stuff.
I don't recall encountering many war crimes or gold. They very much portray the Red Army as looters and murderers while they were the friendly people just trying to make their way across the country. But with how little I know about it, I definitely didn't want to tread in that territory.
They definitely weren't the friendly people. The towns they went through remember them up to this day and not for excessive kindness. The whole civil war in Russia thing is pretty controversial these days with some people liking whites (very roughly imperial loyalists) others liking reds (communists) but everyone dislike the legion. That's not to say others were much better - because they didn't. But this is why I dislike playing modern "historical" games. They always try to spin something and trivialize the complex historical context away replacing it with simplistic narrative to fit the modern agenda. Fiction is so much better.
@@tristanwegner That's true, but even releasing this video after it completed already means some aren't available. It can be disappointing for some people to have games recommended that they can't try and I'd only have more of that if I waited longer. But Valve has a new event practically every week so I guess they have to keep them going.

I think it's more fun to watch if it sounds like I'm telling a really weird story about all these games I played.
The real secrets were the friends we made along the way

Ol' Robert Cop 😄😂

Those both look pretty interesting and somehow very similar but very different from one another.
Great script!
This is gud
Thank you :)
My favourite game of the steam fest is a secret, so I don't think you'll get it :D
I'm lucky I even found this comment.
Your massively undersubbed dude
Playing the algorithm game is a nightmare, but every now and then I feel like I'm making progress.
Unreal videos man, these deserve so many more views
Thanks for checking it out! It's a battle to get views these days.

That's some messy politics, even for a war game.

Great Video. Very useful to sort the the flood of demos
I wish the event was longer. They're like "hey he's 900 demos, hope you can play them all in a week."
@@AbbreviatedReviews about 90% of the demos are still available for download

What's the game at 13:32?
