    Nice to see the tenor player working hard - lovely relaxed quartet sound, not too forced or strict. Bravo !

    La música del Maestro Astor Piazzolla , perdura en el tiempo y en las nuevas generaciones. la obra del maestro Astor fue y sera vanguardista en un 100% , sino, no se explica como se escucha y se toca en todo el mundo

    I need advice for alto sax. I just started in music class for about 3 months now, but when I play, I make an extremely weird sound. What can I do to improve the sound? Any advice helps! Thank-you! By the way, it sounds so AWESOME!

      Search around on google. Sax has been around so long you can most likely find someone with the same problem with a way to fix it. Beyond that, PRACTICE. A LOT.

      Trust me, just practise :) And try positioning your lips a bit differently, but other than that, practice makes it perfect :)

    • @saxmusicmail
      @saxmusicmail 5 лет назад

      First, can you suck your thumb? Of course you can... with the bottom lip over the teeth, suck your thumb. You will form the embouchure of the saxophone just like that. Now, with the mouthpiece/reed only, place the mouthpiece in your mouth just like you had your thumb, and move it in/out until you can get a clear even tone. You are finding the place where the lip will cover the "break" of the facing, where the gap between the reed and mouthpiece begins. If you have too much mouthpiece in the mouth, you will not be able to control pitch and tone. If you have too much, the lip will damp the reed and you will produce little if any sound. You will soon find the right place. Now, how much embouchure tension is too much, too little? For the alto sax you should be able to produce a concert A, which is one octave and 6 steps above middle C on the piano. Not Bb, not G, but an A. (for tenor, G, for baritone Eb, for soprano, a C two octaves above middle C, for clarinet, a B). Practice this A on the alto mouthpiece until you can play a steady, clear tone consistently. NOW when you place it on the sax, blow the exact same way. Begin each practice session with a few minutes of blowing the A. And it does not hurt for seasoned players to check their mouthpiece pitch every so often. This is the method you will find in Dr. Eugene Rousseau's book, and he learned it from Santy Runyon (Runyon Products - mouthpieces) who had many famous students.

    Tenor sax playing not too loud , mellow but clearly distinguishable warm full sound.The baritone and alto not clearly audible and soprano too screechy on top notes. I used to lead my own sax quartet on soprano.

  • @SmertMC

    in band louder isn't better... it makes it sound worse and make it have better chance of squeaking for reed players
