- Perris Monte Carlo and Atelier Fragranze Milano (AFM) allowed me the privilege to go behind the scenes and tour an operating perfume lab.
I was give a guided tour by The Master Perfumer and Founder of AFM, Luca Maffei and had the chance to understand the process that occurs as a perfume is first imagined by Luca and then taken all the way through to creation.
A massive thank you to both Carlos and Alessandra from PERRIS MONTE CARLO for making this happen!! It was a great honour to meet Luca Maffei and to be shown around AFM; a thousand thank you's!!! (or "Grazie Mille" as they say in Italy❤️)

This is what sets you channel apart from any other fragrance channel...this is your life and you get out to the producers, your friends in the industry and to the shops/stores too....watching your channel is a joy each time. Awesome to read your comments here @SirSillageSniffington, and I totally agree with you. It's interesting listening to the recent Ed Sheeran and Marvin Gaye song similarities and how serious this is within the music world (and so it should be)....yet no one bats an eyelid when another company imitates note for note a fragrance from one of these perfume creators (who have spent months/years creating the perfume) and sells it as copy 🙄 personally, I think it's unfair on these creators/artists (I realise that I've opened a can of worms on this point 😬...but I'm opened to hear the conversation on this 🤔)

That's the mission Ricardo🚀 As much as possible, I want to surprise you guys to discover something new in this brilliant niche perfume world and connect with these amazing artists (that in most cases go unnoticed....meaning that we give a lot of love to a musician who creates an awesome song, but give little regard to a perfumer who creates a magical fragrance that the world falls in love with, but we have no idea about who this artist is 🤷🏽♂️)

So glad that you enjoyed this Ryan; it was a blast going behind the scenes and Luca was super generous in showing me how everything worked....there were more things, that I didn't include in this episode as I didn't want to give the competition a heads up 😉 so I really was like 'Charlie' getting the chance to see the full operation.
I would love to do another one of these episodes with another fragrance house and now see the care that goes into packing and bottling...next adventure!

It’s also interesting, after googling it, to learn how many perfumers Luca Maffei has created (169 on Fragrantica).
Stuff like Zoologist Field Mouse, Masque Milano L’Attesa, Gallivant Naples, and loads more for brands like Laboratorio Olfattivo, Jacques Fath, Histoires de Parfums, Houbigant and many more.
I didn’t realise he was quite so prolific and well known. Very cool.
Yep, for such a young man; he's really a superstar😎 (winning an Art and Olfaction award in 2015 & 2016 and again this year! So yep, the man is a genius) and super humble and really approachable. What you see on screen, is who he is.

This was sick. I loved seeing all the greenery too in the studio. Really cool to get an inside look. I've seen videos similar to this but nothing of this depth. It would have be cool to do like a documentary style for really big nerds to hear about the process in loads of detail interviewing everyone throughout the process - truly seeing behind the curtain in almost tedious detail.
The Paris video was great. But this? Amazing! What a treat to see behind the scenes and hear what these creators have to say. Thank you!
