My Teochew mother taught me how to plan ahead by growing money, my Hakka father taught me to survive. We should all be proud of our Chinese heritages / dialect groups! @@danielponidi2722 it’s a self deprecation joke among us, there were historic rivalries between teochew and hockkeins in Singapore. Teochews often said hokkien people are untrustworthy, and hokkien said teochews are show offs that ‘want face’.
Being a Teochew is hard, but we are resilience against hardship, even someone who try to destroy our culture we all trace all our root back to old homes.

My grandfather surname 詹 .he immigrated to Thailand from Puning (not sure maybe Pow Leng).I want to travel there oneday 😊

Tiechew not Teochew, Teochew is Hokkianese pronunciation. Wa see Sing Gia Bo Gai Tiechew nang.
潮汕人是海洋民族。打魚為生。又稱水上人。白話人和客家人口中的鶴佬便是所指潮汕人。潮汕鶴佬雖然源于福建莆田但又于閩南人有分別。陳元光到福建把閩越土著潮汕佬從苦莆田趕去現今潮汕地區。所以潮汕人不是白話人又非閩南人。
