Thank you so much for this video. I teach engineering and have a brand new (older model) Pitsco structure tester that was not working. They claimed it was the force sensor that was not working anymore and wanted to replace the entire tester for Almost 1K. Found the data sheet for tester and your video. Force tester is working fine...found out that the cable that they had running from the sensor to the onboard output/LCD screen was actually wired incorrectly! Circuit Board has connections SSEE and the sensor schematics have it SESE...It was wired SESE in the clip that connected it to the circuit board...so it was never able to read data! Wondering how many of these models were sold this way...this was not a refurbished structure tester.
I'm thinking about making corner weight scales for a car I'm building. Is it ok to leave the weight of the car on the load cells at each corner at all times? In other words, just build the car on the scales and whenever I add weight, turn on the scales and move the load around to try to balance things out, then turn them off when not in use, but NOT remove the load of the overall car?
Good question ProfessorOzone! You may leave the load on the load cells at all times, the issue you may have to take into account is sensor creep, meaning your load cells will tend to deform over time so you may have to account for zero and span drift. We recommend recalibration once a year from the time of installation by sending them back to us and getting them recalibrated/certified. @@DwyerOmega Well, right now I'm still in the research stages, making calculations for the suspension. I have to finish my current project first. But the design is looking like: Two seat street legal sports car, gull-wing doors, front-mounted mid engine, rear wheel drive, 400 ft-lbs torque, 400 HP minimum, double-wishbone independent pull-rod suspension front and rear, six-speed manual transmission and the weight is absolutely critical. The goal is 2000 lbs (~900kg). My favorite car is the Mercedes SLS, but they are over $100k, so I thought I would build my own version. I have to be honest, though. I don't intend to use Omega load cells. Corner scales for cars are very expensive and I believe I can roll my own using an arduino and some load cells. That's how I chanced upon your channel, but piecing together your products will also cost more than I'd like. At this point, I intend to build one and if it works ok, I'll decide if I want to build three more or just move the one from wheel to wheel. When I start building it will be on my youtube channel: antimatter garage Thanks for the info and showing an interest.
Thank you. I want yo read the changes in voltage during a tensile test from our load cell. But our load cell is socketed to a (R232 i think) and is not bare wire. What should i do now?
Hello, we have watched few videos,in two videos the teacher denoted out-put Red wire and white wire, and in-put by green wires and black wires. While your videos you said red and black wires use as in-put. And green and white as output . I am little confuse. Please clear my concept thanks
Dear Sir , I have an old model of instron 2511 Load Cell which is tension and Compression type , please help me which wire color is used for comression and which one for tension .
Just like to ask if the normal resistance value is around 350ohm, and suddendly after using the it sometime, the scale becomes dead and upon measuring the resistance of the excitation and signal becomes double. Its reading is 850ohm on excitation and 780ohm on signal. Whats the cause of it that its value double? Is the load cell damage?
Thank you for the explanation, while programming in psoc, are the four resistances at the bridge 350 ohm resistor or the values changes? What is the best way to amplify the milli-volt signals?
Great video ,thanks :) I'm struggling to find any info on what angle to mount a load cell in relation to the direction of force. In sim racing pedals they seem to be accepting an angular load rather than perpendicular to the load cell. Have a look at Heusinkveld Ultimate pedals for example. Thanks again :)
Hello im having a issue in my load cell where checking the strain gauge resistance between input and signal excitation the resistance is same but when giving voltage to the input and checking at the signal inputs in dc volt ,without applying load im having voltage in signal input as the given input. how can i rectify it??

Excellent & simple explanation 👍
Glad it was helpful!
Very clear explanation! Keep it up brother!!
Loved the clip. If only all presenters had the English you have, with clear accents.

@ProfessorOzone - Just out of curiosity, what kind of car are you building? We'd love to hear more about it and how your load cells performed.

Can you help me on how to wire a glinted Loaecell on Marell scale!?please
Is the output linear with applied weight?
Is working both tension as well?
yes, the same goes for tension.
When I measure the load cell I get the reading in volts and not in millivolt/volt. Why?
Sir nice information tell me if we have 8 load cell in weigh bridge and value is 2 mv/v how much should be value at out put.

hello what about 6 wire loadcell test is it the same ?
This is awesome
This helps a lot, thank you
Great Video, would have been good to use a smaller load cell though. 25kgs or 50lbs then your mV would have changed ;)
Very good, thank you!
What if the input read 380 ohms and the output read 350ohms?
