2020 FH Global Summit Session 5: New Frontiers in FH Care

In Session 5 of the 2020 FH Global Summit we explored some of the newest frontiers of familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) care - from gene editing to personalized risk assessment of FH through genetics.
In his presentation "DNA is not destiny," Dr. Amit V. Khera, Broad Institute, highlighted how both polygenic risk and a favorable lifestyle can impact the severity of cardiovascular disease in individuals with FH. Dr. Kiran Musunuru, Penn Medicine, shared the latest data on new treatments for FH, including gene editing using CRISPR-Cas9 base editing.
The session also included perspectives from an individual and family living with FH and HoFH, Kate Robinson.
