- This sandwich was in the movie, Spanglish, and this feature was on the DVD. I have made this sandwich myself, and it is so delicious; the best sandwich I've ever tasted.
Love this scene since I was a kid, now I’m a culinary student at Roosevelt University.
I was watching Spanglish on TBS HD and when they did a close up of him cutting the sandwich, my mouth watered!! Sandwich looked bomb!
Best part of the movie it's the Sandwich.
Unknowingly, iv'e been making the worlds greatest sandwich for my entire life. Who would have thought?
So is that was Barristan Selmy has been doing since he got fired from the Kingsguard? Sandwiches?
2:32 Thomas: “We got our beer”
Me: “Where?!
We saw the movie some years ago, and the sandwich scene kept stuck in our mind. Today we wanted to make it, suddenly, eventually - and of course had no idea how exactly it was done....For example I had no idea there was cheese needed! So thank god for RUclips - and thank you so very much, Leespeed91, for uoloading it! You saved our dinner, and we'll toast to you before we take the first bite!:)
Been wondering for many years thank you for posting the recipe !
PBJ still beats this because of Fool's Gold Loaf
I’ve made this many times, and it’s fantastic. My architecture is a little different, though. From bottom to top, it’s bread, mayo, lettuce, tomato salt, pepper, bacon, egg, cheese, bread. I think the order matters for the taste and for the bread not getting too soggy from tomato. That said, sometimes I’ll put a bit more mayo and the tomato right on top. The mayo protects the bread somewhat, but let’s some juice through and the tomato and mayo blend nicely. When I do this, I make the tomato the top and the cheese the bottom, and everything else the same relative order. Also, I toast only one side of the bread by stacking them in the toaster oven so the inside is still soft, then I add the cheese to the soft side of one slice and melt it in the oven. This way, there isn’t so much toasted bread that it chews your mouth up. I also do this for regular BLT’s. It’s important!
I'm sitting here eating the "world's greatest" grilled cheese that I'm developing, while watching the world's greatest BLT add egg and cheese, ha.
It is....and I've made it for all 4 of my kids and they all believe it to be the best ever too...
We call it a runny egg sandwich.
And have for over 25 yrs
It took Sandler quite a while to grasp the concept off alternating far and thin ends of bacon. He may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer..
... here I am running across this ludicrous comment 9 years after it's conception. I still would abort it if I were you.
Thomas Keller is an amazing Chef associated with the French Laundry. It's a revolutionary restaurant. He's a god in the culinary world.
Associated with?
I love how the fact that Adam Sandler is there isn't even acknowledged. No! Sandwich more important. And also, I agree
The sad part is most people watching this have no idea who thomas keller is, I bet more frenchies know him than our own people :(
Oh, believe me, I know who Thomas Keller is. His chicken and waffles at Bouchon is a near religious experience.
Well, to be fair, most people watching this have no idea this was for a movie...or that it has Adam Sandler, so...
If he's a regional chef, where only people in the state of California know who he is, then nobody outside of that region will know his name. Hence the reason why Keller made an appearance here with Sandler.
I love that effing Sandwich.
Sandler looks nervous
Best Sandwich ever, is peanut butter, marshmallow fluff, chocolate spread, and bonanas
So the mayo slice of bread is not toasted? I think, I would put both slices in the toaster oven/broiler (one w/cheese) and then start the prep with mayo on the one , about a minute to broil the cheese (according to the spliced video though). Adding in the onions after the tomatoes?
That commis might have a future in the entertainment biz.
The only change I make to this sandwich is that I sub applewood smoked cheddar instead of the Monterrey jack.
The ultimate stoner sandwich imo try it
Spanglish was great, and that sandwich looked delicious.
i believe it is him, the description says this is a DVD extra from the movie Spanglish which he played in.
When men elaborate on simplicity , it implies their sights hv been short circuited
I have no idea never before food scenes
Soooo good. When I first saw this on the movie my mouth watered and I wanted it sooo badly! Then I watched this special feature and made it myself and oh yum... it lived up to my expectations... such a good sandwich.
i was watching friends and Joey was talking about 'the best sandwich in the world' and that made me hungry and curious :P
This movie made me cry so hard
wow..i'll try this. what's the thing on bread & pan @2:46? is it butter? and also- are the green stuff lettuce?
Correction; Not- "The Movie Poster", Is; The DVD Featurette Recipe: “How to Make the World’s Greatest Sandwich” featuring Tomas Keller of French Laundry. on the DVD.
My son in law and I made this sandwich one freezing Ohio night. It's good. Late Night and cold beer. The movie is good ,light entertainment. No surprises here ,just relax.
started salivating.... incredible... wow a high end BLT with cheese and egg... wow... just wow
sickened im watching this at 1 o clock in the morning and now im starving
It's true, you won't find a sandwich that can taste any better than that.
Cover for 1 minute, then turn off heat. Leave cover on for another minute, then the egg is ready. Perfectly cooked with still a runny center, no need to flip it. Add the egg on the tomatoes, then break the egg (if you break the egg by cutting the sandwich in half with a knife, you just make a mess and lose a lot of the egg "sauce"). No need for the bacon either, which is unnecessary. Add the melted cheese slice on top and there you have it, a perfect sandwich.
Makes me want to watch "Spanglish". I love the movie and I love the sandwich. I think maybe I'll make it, tomorrow.
+mysterycheez DID YOU MAKE THE SANDWICH OR WHAT!?
It's a BLT with Fried Egg and Sliced Cheese. Love the way Adam Sandler was impressed with the egg flip hehehe! Love Adam Sandler!
This is great
@TheRealMtnDewDude
It actually is, the sandwich is from Spanglish, a movie he was in.
It may be a good sando. But I think the narrator is a little star struck here. I eat prolly 300 sandwiches a year and I'll share with you what I think the best is: home oven roasted turkey, roasted red peppers, melted provalone, lettuce, tomato, toasted French roll with homemade walnut pesto! Eat your hearts out. The godfathrt
that looks like the worlds greatest snack sandwich, Google Ike's in San Francisco, they make the top . Cheers to Chef, fried eggs are good!
this is the worlds best sandwich.
Was this filmed in his restaurant in Yountville? Would make sense since I used bump into Adam Sandler a lot when I lived there.
This sandwich is a" work of art" I do love it.pass theonions.
sure there are some bakeries that have some good stuff but you can't buy this bread at wallmart or any regular shop. to get good bread in states is a pain in the ass
so simple yet delicious
So it's the greatest because it's the most appealing? smh
Where can I buy this kind of bread? Cuz I’ve never seen it heard of it
@sleighte I believe this is the sandwitch he ate in "Spanglish" movie lol from that espaniol servant?
I wonder if there is a video out there of the other sandwich that his daughter makes. It doesn't get quite as much coverage in the movie as this one, but I want to make it. If anyone knows, please tell me. This is a great sandwich btw. I knew it would be good, but it surprised me.
It's essentially a BLT on nice rustic bread with a fried egg and a slice of cheese. Nothing wrong with that I'd say it's a damn good tasty sandwich, but this dude is really over hyping it simply because Thomas Keller made it. Pretty sure there are literally hundreds of better sandwich's that this guy has never even heard about. The worlds a big place....
Yeah, agree.
Back here again...
Chef Thomas has done an episode of the The Bear S3:E10. A Master
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm omg ive been eating bacon and egg sandwich since i was a little girl. My nanna used to make them for me, as I got older I added stuff myself and ended up with pretty mcuh the same sandwich as this minus the mayo. I'm gonna go to the 24 hour store on the way home and make this tonight. Omg I'm so hungry now! Oh and for all the losers who go on about calories. Bite me you spoilsports!
Best sandwich ever!!!
Greatness.
lol at about 2:05 you here Adam Sandler go "OOooohh" after the the guy flips the egg in the pan. first time you could tell for sure that it was him
I will try it. Is that Adam Sandler in the back ground? What soup would go well with this?
uuh, they were teaching him to make this for his movie spanglish. he was a chef...
yes, yes it is
A sandwich is only as good as it’s bread.
It’s all about the bread.
If you've only seen this video and made the sandwich, watch the rest of the movie. One of my favorites of all time.
What the hell, RUclips knows I was watching Spanglish 😂
@DTS19790601 I position the tomato in between the lettuce and mayo/bread so the egg never touches it and thus no mush. although I don't really think it matters as it's best eaten right after it's made anyway.
@bullet0wwn Yes. It's on the set of "Spanglish".
hmm...my recipe is sorta lik this...but im vegetarian, and i messed with it a bit, here we go:
2 slices of toast,
2 slices of regular cheese,
4 slices of vegetarian stripples,
4 slices of pickles,
butter lettuce ( as much as u lik ),
some mayo.
and at last not overeasy but fried egg, taste very good and salty, good day
This sandwich is the single thing from Spanglish that I remember.
that comment would be like in the movie American Pie, with that guy doing that apple pie..!
So, what beer did he use in the movie?
HOLY CRAP THATS ADAM SANDLERT!!! :D
no salt no egg,best EVER!!
OH MY GOD THAT'S THOMAS KELLER!!!
I Told EpicMealTime to give me a video to laugh at and they gave me THIS!!!
His salt box must be magical :'D
You can literally order this at Togo's just a BLT W/ an egg
What the hell is so great about this? Any fool who has made a breakfast sandwich has made this sandwich by default. Whippteeee dooo.
Sure you do! i mean kellers restaurants are in america so you would think he gets his bread in america
oh and.....yummmmmmmmm
looks good
Spanglish! good movie!
I'm so hungry now.
your kiding me, tht took them 4 minutes
I don't think I'll start eating meat again, but I'd love to go to Ireland and have a nice Guinness. I don't drink, but I think I would in that case.
they should call that sandwich the clogger
a seafood poorboy is way better any day of the week!
Thats a good looking sandwich!
anyone else drooling?
i was hungry so i typed best sandwich to make it
Who doesn't keep a dash of salt in their pocket?
No one can really dispute that a good quality BLT w/ egg made be Thomas Keller ISN'T the best sandwich in the world. Seriously.
The best sandwich in the world for the everyday stoner, maybe..
yeah sure thats a "salt" box you keep on you all the time
bacon and egg? hmmm... how does it stack against a philly cheese steak sandwich using steak-quality rib eye and lots of melted jack cheess?
I'm gonna make me that sandwich.
yes
I saw this movie, and I got to say that I didn't expect this from Adam Sandler. I thought the movie was going to be funny. It was serious. But it was o.k. ....... Why am I'm tying a review of a movie when this is about the worlds greatest sandwich?(P.S. the sandwich look delicious)
This will work great considering I'm having BLT's in the near future.
SPANGLISH♥
SO, because Adam Sandler played a chef in a Hollywood movie he gets to hang out and cook with Thomas Keller??? u win cruel world.
